Cutting Dez is a Huge Mistake

This club is doomed one way or another, but cutting Dez is the only thing they did right.

Dez’s ability to catch fades and jump balls made him a huge redzone threat. What he brought in that area can’t be replaced. Dak wasn’t consistently able to put the ball where Dez could make a play. Romo discussed during a telecast where Dez likes the ball. The Cowboys are a worse team without Dez. Can’t see how anyone could think not having him on the team makes the Cowboys better. Of Dak’s 44 TD passes the past two seasons Dez caught 14 of them.
For the Official Record

This is a gigantic mistake...... should have learned from DWare....... could have saved almost as much with a simple restructure

He could have been traded at worst....he will sign elsewhere quickly and he will play for 5-6 more years like ABoldin

Monopoly money is still monopoly money. Moving around money to pay players isn't the same as making/earning money. Everyone is limited by the same rules and same overall cap limit. Your cap expertise is tantamount to owning lots of little green and red houses and hotels on a boring board game. When you're ready to make 9 figure deals selling Coltan to the chinese, Koreans or department of defense, send me your resume for consideration.
Wow you are insecure...... tell us your resume again please

1. can you say they are not without ever seeing them take the field for us?
2. define premium pick....1st, 2nd, 3rd?
3. our LB's are not as weak as you think, and I'll agree we still need to draft one.

1. Yes. If they were they would still be on the teams they played for (they were cheap for the position and could have easily been re-signed).
2. I did leave 3rd out so I'll concede a WR in Round 3 (if we don't have an LB by then we're doomed anyway).
3. Wilson is not a starting caliber NFL LB. Smith is pretty decent, but he's not there yet. Sean Lee is terrific but a huge injury risk. Wilbur is a role/sub-package player. Hitchens was a huge loss. He was our most consistent LB on the field for the last few years (as Lee has spent a lot of time off of the field). We need serious help at LB!

The club is doomed because they move on from good players like Ware, Dez and Hitchens and continue to keep a stiff for a head coach.

Garrett is not a terrible coach, but the mix of him JJ/SJ/WM and the assistants just don't seem to work. They always seem to come up short.

Dez is no longer a good player. Hitch will be sorely missed. Huge loss. Garrett is a poor excuse for a hc .

Garrett is a terrible head coach and have fun trying to convince the masses he isn’t. Just look at his track record the past seven seasons.

You watch garbage like ace Ventura??? Between that and your incessant capology postings, for which you are unpaid, you have way too much time on your hands. Ever considered gainful employment?

How many times have you seen Dez get behind a defense? with Thompson and his speed that's now a possibility.
Hurns can run the whole route tree; whereas Dez could only run 3 of them.
Have you seen Hurns or Thompson as a distraction on the sideline? or easily distracted out of their game by a DB?
the only advantage we had with Dez is his jump ball ability.

If Dez isn’t a good player than what does that say for the rest of the receivers we have? Name a receiver we currently have on the team that’s better than Dez? Let’s see the stats.

Cannot agree. Garrett remains because Jerry refuses to admit a mistake. Jerry is also the reason dez was allowed to be such a distraction. As Stephens influence increases the team will benefit. Jerry seems to slowly be giving up the reins. Just not fast enough.

Cutting Dez is only a mistake if he's something other than what the Cowboys team and their FO believes he's not. They've seen enough of him to be an expert judge of what he's able to do and what he's not able to do. I strongly believe they made the right decision and I'm sure the team will stand by their decision. The future of the team is yet to be determined. Hopefully, what they have in tow now and in the near future will be enough to convince their fans to remain patient and pull for them to succeed. They're at a crossroad now and so is their fan support. Be a fan first and a critic second and give them a chance.

I'm not a stat guy. Hurns might turn out to be better than the dez of 2015-2017. Or he might not. But ridding ourselves of the distraction makes the move justifiable. Imo

Wait until they get a load of the guy who's throwing the ball to them here, lol.

Again, these guys did not command big bucks in FA. The reason? They're not as good as you're saying they are. Thompson's speed is great (now if he could only run routes and catch the ball). Hurns is not a go-to WR. Never has been. Expectations will be high and if he can't get on the same page with Dak (which is this QBs M.O. so far in his time here), production will be lower than with Dez.
