I had a big fight with my vet.

When she collapsed on me..

I realized she was in despairate trouble.

His assistant told me my vet was unavailable.

I told them she problem needed to be put down as she was suffering.

Punkin weighed 110 lbs and I could not pick her up by myself to take her anywhere.

His assistants shugged and there was nothing they could do.

I went back home and nursed her as best I could and stayed up all night talking to her.

About 6am she whimpered loudly and exhaled a deep breath and she was gone.

I sat and held her for 2 hours and told her how much I loved her and told her her story about how we met and all the good times.

I begged her forgiveness I had failed him in the end.

I would not talk to anybody for a week.

I went back to the vet and he was there and I read him the riot act.

He had to ask me to leave as customers were arriving and could heard what I was saying about his lack of care and letting my dog die like that.

I left finally.

It had been a freaking horrible week.

But I am looking for another Golden as I miss the companionship.

We will see

* you wouldn't know it, but, I've " put down" a longtime pet dog/ family member one time(and never again ) as it was back when my nurse wife& myself had split the sheets & she'd kept this big ,1/2golden Chesapeake retriever& 1/2 yellow lab that we'd had for years, it was a female of easily 130lbs, hated "cops"
( which was kinda' pretty cool to see them recoil back& drop a hand to their pistol on the couple of occasions I'd seen her charge the fence when they've showed up)
And that dog would actually ' talk' to me, like,one time I'd be drinking at the kitchen counter top and said "hey Shelby, you wanna' go run a rabbit?" , this dog spoke&said " yes,I wanna go run a rabbit",,, it freaked me out enough that I booted her outside, then that time I'd grilled up a bunch of steaks& she was outside scratching on the door & I'm talking crap to her while sitting on the couch, like " oh, boy Shelby! are these steak good, yum-yum" " it's too bad there won't be any left over for you Shelby" ,,,and that dog in a huff& quit lightly scratching on the front door & huffed " oh ,F*** you",,, and my wife looked over at me and said: "did you just hear what she said to you?",,, I was like,"ya ,I did" so I let her in the house and gave her a steak,,, well that dog had suffered from degenerative hip dysplepsia( ms) and got old & was dying, the ex called me up crying, wanting me to put her out of her misery ( and I had the cash flow to have taken her to the vet to be put down ,but didn't) and said " hey girl, you wanna go run a rabbit?" Man Alive, flaming orb of fast sky travel,my friend!, that dog perked up and got all happy like a puppy, and I still had to pick her up in the quilt she was laying on to shovel her into the front seat of the truck,,,,and when we hit the desert, she was a bit more spry& springy following me down a drywash, & *groan* when I 'd turned around & put a pistol bullet in the top of her head, she yelped& said
" you rotten f***",,, well ,I was bawling like a little girl with an uncontrollably heavy stream of tears gushing down,,,Man, that's something I could never ever do again ,ya know?
( I'm kinda' crying about it right now,man)

Cats were fine ad I own 4 and they loved her. They would come up if she was sleeping and cuddle b/with her paws. She would wakeup, roll her eyes at them and go back to sleep.

She replaced the GF. Unlike my GF, Punkin never went in my wallet and took my ATI card and went shopping.

Thats the truth right there. Bully breeds are very hard dogs to own if you are not experienced with them. That's all Bully breeds too not just pits. They also love to get into trouble when bored. Not dogs that just get left at home. THere is no bad dogs , just bad owners. Of course there is some that are just defects in the world .... but that can be seen way before it bites someone. Person interjecting herself also at fault ... Only do that when its a MUST like its attacking a person , or about to kill your own dog.




The public changes its minds on dangerous things like animals all the time. German shepherds were once in the light, as well as , Dobermans and Rottweilers. Its all about what in fashion to blame at the time. When I was 4 I was bitten in the face by my Dads K9 " German Shepard" I had 54 stitches in my face and almost lost an eye. Most would say the scares are an improvement as it takes away from my face . THe dog was never put down and there was no report. My father wanted both and was pissed ..... The Police said the dogs value was too much and it outweighed my accident. My father quit the force after that

He should've sued the department. Leaving a dog like that in service is a danger to the public. The response tells you everything you need to know about their willingness to serve and protect

Ajo & East to the San Pedro river/north to mammoth az./south to Benson az. ( and all in the same day sometimes), I met all kinds,,,race & creeds with their favoured breeds of dogs,,, never had any problem from the dogs,
( I've had to turn my head away while driving past some apparently illicit white powder bulk unloading operations from Mexican registered produce hauling 18 wheelers a time or two,though)

When people say there is no bad dog just bad owners, its the truth. People get dogs that they should not, say be family, experience, housing ect. Some people by dogs because of the stigma involved. Bad owners, about 80% of attacks are from unrestrained dogs , most of those numbers are when the dogs on the owner's property. less then 20% of attacks are on owners property being restrained. Less then 1% of attacks were restrained dogs off property .

Children and dogs are most attacked by dogs. There is plenty of blame to go around when it happens. Owners at times , parents and but children as well .... you never leave a young child around a dog alone .... no matter if you know it , it yours or its a stanger. The media does not actually do its job when it comes to reporting... They on average say its Pit over 50 % of the time .... when in turn true reliable ID of the breed is only around 20%

Maybe check out the 2-year-old killed by a hound right in Houston? The list can go on and on with just about every breed. All dogs deserve respect and should be treated accordingly .... Ignorant people buy animals and have no clue how to take care of them properly. If Fewer people bought Pittbulls that should not or can not take care of properly .... then it would not be a big deal ... the public outrage would still be German Shepards, Rotties and Dobermans You should google about public opinions on dogs.

Apparently the Frisco police twice before have had to cite DAK for letting his dog run loose in the neighborhood before.

He obviously can or does not control it well enough.

I do not see a happy ending here for the dog or it's owner.

When most animals get outside people fear for the safety of the animal. When one of these dogs get loose, people fear for other people's safety. You have to think Dak is very busy and can't provide the level of attention this breed needs. Unfortunately, the dog will pay a price, as well as Dak.
