One played the Giants and the other played the Browns.......

Cling to it.

Had Wentz been a Cowboy you'd be at the tattoo parlor.

Throws are throws. He displayed elite arm talent that Dak Prescott could only dream of.

A guy can play poorly on an absolute scale and great on a '4th round rookie making his first NFL start' scale. Games are won and lost on an absolute scale. Nobody gives you bonus points because you are starting rookies, there is no handicap system.

On an absolute scale Dak was Weedenesque. But when you consider how long it took Weeden to reach that level, and how ridiculously little time Dak has had to learn the NFL game, Dak's play was honestly about as good as anyone could possibly expect. I can't imagine any but the most deluded fans, drunk on pre-season kool aid, thinking Dak would come out and post a 100+ passer rating or something equally ridiculous in his first live action.

Dak Prescott was number 18 in ESPNs total quarterback rating. That's decidedly middle of the pack. Middle of the pack is a great place to be for a guy who had never before experienced NFL game speed, or seen the blitzes and disguised coverage that the Giants threw at him. Now he's got an idea of what real NFL games look like, and I expect him to perform better on an almost weekly basis. Based on his development so far I don't think that's outlandish.
`so all these rookie quarter backs in the history of NFL had loosey games if they lost

I agree dak didn't make the throws wentz did. But it's also vs the Browns who are a bottom 3 team. Plus wentz doesn't play in scared offense. I was OK with daks performance being a 4th rounder.

I think you meant lousey, and no - quarterbacks who lost didn't necessarily have bad games. Frankly I'm not sure how you even came to that conclusion based on what I wrote. I never stated anything like that or even intimated it. I think you might want to re-read it, because you missed the point entirely and in fact read something that I never even hinted at.

Valid points here, so basically what you're trying to say is... Leave Dak alone right?
Im saying its your first professional game in your career, you were a 4th round draft choice. Now, on opening day, you are the starting quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys.

The game is more complex, your opponents are the fastest, biggest, strongest and most talented you have ever faced. You have a national TV audience.

You are expected to replace one of the most productive quarterbacks in history.

I will take his game #1. Unlike a career backup or an aged veteran in the twilight of his career, Dak will get better as the next several seasons unfold.

He is now an experienced starter.

Do yourself a favor. Don't compare Dak and Wentz. Not even remotely close. One has all the skills. The other has half the skills and questionable character.

What Wentz did on Sunday was one of the most impressive performances I've ever seen. Division 2. Barely a preseason. Suspect talent around him. None of it mattered. He's the real deal.

Then Dak had the same opportunity, coming from the SEC, full preseason, better talent around him and he looked like a rookie. And that's okay. But that's not Wentz.

We are settling at the most important position on the field.
I'm not sure the decision has been made if they will "settle" for Dak long term.
I know they are excited and like what they see so far, but I heard today that they plan to evaluate him with hopes he progress and maybe even takes over in 2-3 years. But that's a long way off...according to the radio talk.
I realize that he's been crowned as a future HOFer already around here, but Spags (fwiw) says that is not at all the case within the organization.
This does not at all take away from what he's done so far--including on Sunday--or how they feel overall about him.

Dak is better then expected. That doesn't make him elite. It just makes him better then what we expected him to be given where he was selected in the Draft. People are saying he is going to be another Donavan McNabb. Time to pump the breaks. McNabb was a first round pick and made the Pro Bowl 6 times.

yeah it was so obvious they should have switched to morris from 2nd qtr on.
Morris is better at finding a crack or seam to run thru, or when to cut back or bounce it, elliot, was just running straight into piles.
Giants DL won the batttle with our OL. as far as our run game.

It is because he is patient to let the hole develop.

Of course Dak has a long way to go, but he's far and way better than the 2015 Romo replacements.

EE had no timing with the oline. I'm curious to see what the offense looks like when the timing isn't a issue.

Of course I would. I thought Wentz looked great. I don't get why you have like Wentz but can't appreciate Daks performance. Dak was good and Wentz was great. What's the problem?

I'd still rather take Dak in the 4th than Wentz with two first rounders and a 2nd.....

is it worth a post for me to say " I don't know if I agree or not"? five years from now will those
tow first rounders and a second be all that, [dont know]
I think we'll be fine with our 4th round pick
