Dak did not play well

He is the cowboys number 3 qb and a fourth round rookie. Many have gotten ahead of themselves with him.

I thought he was very good in the first half and pretty terrible in the second half. The giants got a sense of where he would throw the ball at the half and attacked in the second half.

its to be expected of a young qb.

Accuracy is an issue though and I am not sure how you coach accuracy. I hope it improves.

Let's be clear on that. Yeah, there were some missed catches by the receivers, but there were also some really bad throws that were missed interceptions by the defense. Let's just focus on the facts. Of the 28 quarterbacks, Dak ranked...
  • 26th in passing efficiency
  • 28th in yards per attempt
  • 22nd in completion percentage
  • 21st in adjusted net yards per attempt
In no way did he play well in an absolute sense. He was poor yesterday. You can argue that he was OK for a rookie, but he did not play well yesterday. At all.

If you are comparing him to Brady, Romo, Brees...then no he didn't. But for a rookie in his 1st NFL game he did just fine. Most importantly he was NOT the reason we lost the game and even PUT us in a position to win the game.

Play calling wasn't good at all. We have bad coaching...we all know that. Having a rookie have 45 attempts is just asinine. Sure the game did dictate throwing at the end but even after the 1st quarter Dak already has over 10 pass attempts (poor game planning). Morris had the hot hand at RB yet he played only 2 series in the game. As a coach you go with who's hot and not who got picked in the 1st round (reason to get you fired). Our OL played like Giant OL and the Giant OL played that our OL with 3 pro bowlers. It's a miracle that Dak wasn't sacked or knocked out.

Stats are the reality of what happened and do not lie. Your eyes lie if they told you Prescott played well. He didn't. He was bottom quartile of the league yesterday.

Thats ridiculous. He had no running game, key drops and evaded alot of pressure. He was put into a very tough situation and still made what very well could have been a game winning drive. It was an impressive start to his career. Stats alone can be bent and twisted to support most agendas. Thats why you have to watch the game. Any fan should feel encouraged by what our rookie qb did yesterday.

I hate to be critical but some of the guys on this site define stupidity. I read constant complaints over nothing. Yes we are the Dallas Cowboys but we are not PERFECT.
Here are some examples;
Dak played poorly= Absolutely not true. Let's remember he is a ROOKIE and yet he kept us in the game. GREAT first start.
T Will needs to be cut= Laughable this comment almost does not deserve comment. Yes he made a mistake but to go as far as to cut him....REALLY. not to mention some guys here really believe they have to power to command things at the STAR. You are a fan for a reason!!!!
Ezekiel played poorly= Ridiculous. He is also a rookie. It takes time to get your time down with the o-line. Not to mention the Giants are a great run stopping team. They often sell out on the run. Remember #22 did not light things up in his first few games either.
Garrett needs to be fired= Again Ridiculous. He can go over game time situations for ever in practice but it still falls on the player. HE IS NOT ON THE FIELD.

All in all, some people expect the Dallas Cowboys to win EVERY game. That will NEVER happen. So if you want to continue to complain, please there are 31 other teams you can cheer for please help yourself.

Interesting that the people who have been the most vocal supporters of the 'Dak will never give the job back' contingent are also the ones who think his 65 rating was everyone else's fault - he was after all, great. I'm sure those things are not at all related.

I never said Dak will never give the job back ....... Romo is 100 times better at this point ...... I have only said Romo's body will not let him play again

Dak did just fine. Had his teammates not derailed him in that final drive, he leads us down for the win.
Dunbar inexplicably turns up field for 2 extra yards with an easy path out of bounds. This cost us at least 10-15 seconds and a down to clock the ball.
Witten loses the ball in the sun. Zach Martin costs us 5 precious yds with a false start and the T will drives home the final nail.
The 3rd and 15 completion on that drive was money.

He was fine. He is a rookie. He was extremely efficient, and moved the chains. He was very good on 3rd downs as well. What did we have? 2 punts? What more can you ask? Two dropped TD passes and we win this game easily.

He was not extremely efficient. He dinked and dunked all day. Same as Weeden and Cassel last year. When the field became squeezed and we came down to the red zone, the dink and dunk died.

No.......Garrett definitely needs to be fired. He is terrible. If you cant see that then that is the definition right there.

what in the living hell????

the "not all on dak" is in response to the idiocy of "this is all on dak" crap.

NO ONE is saying he lit the world on fire - and are you saying (2) TD's were NOT dropped?

Poor guy. They are talking all over the NFL about how good DAk looked.

So when the media rips on a player, we call it hate and say to ignore it. I guess we only listen to the media when they pump the sunshine.

Dak got a B+ in my book. The reason he didn't get an A+ is due to his poor footwork that caused some passes to sail. But, he can throw the ball away, has pocket awareness and knows this offense. Better playcalling, i.e. calling a TE screen to Fall Down Jason, or running some outside zone stretch plays for Zeke would've opened up the passing game. Hell, even sticking with the run instead of going pass happy would've helped Dak even moreso.

He threw two bombs to Dez, one TD and both were dropped.

And 2 dropped tds. I'm sorry dak did his job. He made some clutch throws too. Especially on 3rd and 15

The 2 for 10 for 36 yards in passes over 15 yards is troubling, I grant you that. You have to be able to stretch the field to win in the league. But it is way early and not time draw any conclusions yet.

B+ for dinking and dunking. I guess Weeden and Cassell get B+'s also.

My impressions with the disclaimer that I had a few beers:

He was settled and the game was not too big for him.
His short passing was mostly accurate.
He did sail a few intermediate passes too high or behind the receivers.
His deep ball needs some accuracy.
The running game did not help him.
He showed some escapeability.
He put the team in a position to have a chance to win the game but was sabotaged by TWill.
