How do you judge a QB's performance relative to the rest of the league?

Do you watch all 32 teams play every weekend?
How is that freaking possible. I watch maybe five games a week. How are you? Judge them lol.

That's what they said entering this season too.

Instead, he's the highest rated QB in the league again.
Only for a little while, I thought it was Mahomes that was on top lol

McCarthy is to blame.

Putting his QB in 3rd and 10 all game long.

The first series in the 3rd quarter McCarthy ran on 2nd and 10 backed up in his own endzone.. 3rd and 10 before his QB has a chance to do anything.

The 2nd series he ran on 1st and 10, and 2nd and 10. And we're at 3rd and 10 again. Luckily the next play was that big Pollard YAC play.

Only a buffoon runs the ball right into the tackles that late into the game with our running game averaging 2.0 yards per play, and the Chargers pass defense being so weak.

Plus that awful decision at 8 seconds at the end of the half.

So I'd say...... yes, without the contributions of Dak Prescott.... we're 3-3.

However, I will say give Big Mike some time.

I'm sure Dorsey and McDermott is being blasted on the Bills forums for their offense doing nothing for 2 games - despite steamrolling everyone for 3 straight games before that.

I remember some of the same posters crying about how the Romo supporters kept bringing up stats like that and how it meant nothing since there were no rings on his finger

Well the same is true here and now; all these fancy stats mean nothing as long as there is no ring on Daks finger

Dak totally sucks when facing the very best defense in football, especially without any semblance of a run game.

Not nearly as big an indictment as you think it is.

Maybe the whole offense and OC suck when facing the best.
When Dak is really good, the team around him is usually pretty good.
When Dak is really bad, the team around him is usually pretty bad.

To be honest, even the QBs on a tier above Dak often play poorly when their teammates play poorly, especially when it’s the OL. Even Mahommes has looked poor when his OL was in shambles or Kelsey has been out.

Oh, okay.

So the Week 5 blowout loss to the 49ers didn't bother you, right?
What? Of course it did. They look looked like crap. Whole team did. Dak didn’t raise his game at all. He stunk. But ill wait to see what he does in playoffs. I have a feeling based on his history that he will suck against a very strong team

What kind of stat is this. What does it prove? What does it mean?
Not downing Dak, but this is another stat they come up with for what reason.

Expected pass situation.
Where are QB”s in expected win situations. Even though it is a team thing as well. I mean his is probably good at that.

Maybe it means and proves he can read defenses….unlike some say he can’t.
It's a directional of note value...

While the offense has excelled in areas such as third-down conversions (4th in NFL), scoring offense (6th in NFL)

MVP - CeeDee Lamb – While the offense has had about as roller coaster of a start as it could have, CeeDee Lamb has found success in bunches at times in providing the biggest spark through six games. His 475 receiving yards are 11th in the NFL and his 34 receptions are 16th in the league. When he's on, it's hard to stop the passing game. When he's not, the offense doesn't operate to its fullest potential.

Best Play - Pollard for Sixty – Improvisation hasn't been good to Dak Prescott and the offense since the start of 2022, but when things broke down against the Los Angeles Chargers, QB1 was efficient and surgical. The highlight of his ability outside the pocket came on a fourth quarter 3rd-and-11 when Prescott escaped a broken pocket and found Tony Pollard leaking across the middle of the field. Pollard took the reception, bounced off a pair of tacklers, and accelerated sixty yards downfield before being pulled down deep into Chargers territory. The play would help set up a Brandin Cooks touchdown that gave the Cowboys a 17-10 lead in the final frame. Without that play, the result most likely looks different – as does the Cowboys record going in the bye week.

Biggest Surprise - Jake Ferguson – It was expected that Jake Ferguson would play a bigger role in 2023 as the starting tight end, but his usage and efficiency within his opportunities has exceeded expectations through six games. His 21 receptions for 190 yards are both third on the team as he's become a safety net in the pass game for Dak Prescott. Even aside from the receiving game, Ferguson has stepped up in a major way with his run blocking ability. What was once a liability in his game, his protection for running lanes has him ranked as one of the top run-blocking tight ends in the NFL.

Key Stat - 0.6 – The Cowboys are ending drives with punts just 0.6 times for every time the offense scores which is fourth in the NFL behind only Miami, Philadelphia and Buffalo. Why is this very specific statistic important? It proves that while the offense has had its struggles, it has still been able to execute with a score on the end of drives. Taking care of the football was a big emphasis for the Texas Coast offense over the offseason, and the Cowboys have done just that with only six giveaways in six games. Even though drives have typically stalled out in the red zone with the offense, Brandon Aubrey's stellar start has kept the Cowboys on the board consistently

We have yet to see where Cooks real contributions will end up being...

You kind of prove the point......... When you don't have anything else to hang your hat on (playoff success, NFCCG, super bowl) you have to come up with useless garbage to prop up an average QB. And then we have whatever your post here is supposed to mean to add to the useless stat conversation.

I'll have 1 of whatever you're drinking.

This is probably the direction real commitment will go next...(the draft)

RB Trey Benson, Florida State

Running back could be one of the positions Dallas could afford to go younger/cheaper next season considering the money they are expected to pay out for extensions to some of their key players. While re-signing Tony Pollard or Rico Dowdle, both of whom will be free agents, can't be necessarily ruled out, finding a new RB1 could be the way they decide to go.

Trey Benson is someone who could be a strong possibility for the Cowboys if they decide to draft an RB early. He is arguably the most complete and talented backs in the entire 2024 draft class. He could step in as the starter from Day 1 with little to no loss in production. Pair him with Deuce Vaughn or Malik Davis and Dallas would once again have a solid RB duo.

That’s 6’1”, 223 of Trey Benson reaching 22.0 mph on this 85-yard TD run.

That’s unfair. pic.twitter.com/zRASRicEvo

Sure, that's all about money...now, smart guy, explain how this will go and I'll remind you following this season...

Jayron Kearse, safety

For a time, Jayron Kearse was a versatile, indispensable piece on Dan Quinn’s defense. Before Kearse’s and Quinn’s arrival, the Cowboys had a cavalier approach to the safety position and regularly invested minimal financial or draft capital to address the position. The philosophy was similar upon signing Kearse, except Kearse was anything but. He proved capable of defending the run and covering tight ends.

Following the 2021 season, the Cowboys signed Kearse to a two-year, $10M contract. Since then, Quinn has developed a knack for molding players to play a similar role to Kearse. Donovan Wilson is the most recent example who has flourished under Quinn, culminating in Wilson signing a new contract with the team earlier this spring. Quinn has also found another safety to work with similar skills in former undrafted free agent Markquese Bell, although Bell has been moved to linebacker. Retaining Kearse may come down to numbers and a belief that Quinn could find a suitable replacement.

Then explain this one!

Tyler Biadasz, center

The Cowboys may have to replace two starters along their offensive line if they decide not to retain Tyler Biadasz and Tyron Smith. Biadasz is a player who has seen some inconsistency after being named a starter in the middle of his rookie season after being drafted in the fourth round in 2020. Framed as the heir apparent for Travis Frederick, the Cowboys were content with allowing Biadasz to grow in his role.

Biadasz’s development peaked last season as he was named to his first career Pro Bowl. The decision to keep Biadasz is intrinsically tied to Tyron Smith and the Cowboys’ resources tied into their offensive line. The team paid Terence Steele a sizable contract a few months ago. Also, the team reworked the contract of offensive guard Zack Martin. If Dallas chose to pay Biadasz, the cost would not be cheap. The average yearly salary for top-five highest-paid centers is $13.1M. A new Biadasz contract could reset the market, currently at $14.25M dollars being paid annually to Eagles’ center Jason Kelce.

Must be time for the meaningless Dak stat of the week.
Since you are so on top of all real football matters, jump right on in now and explain how this is going to go on down, because all stats and money don't matter. Now own up with real football knowledge...

Stephon Gilmore, cornerback

If the Cowboys chose to negotiate a new contract with Stephon Gilmore, it would make sense for several reasons. Gilmore has a reputation for being a cerebral and instinctive cornerback. The veteran leadership he can provide is invaluable to a Cowboys team with several young secondary players, such as DaRon Bland and Israel Mukuamu. Gilmore still has the ball skills and understanding of route concepts that made him an NFL Defensive Player of the Year. However, the foot speed and the ability to carry receivers across the field are waning.

At any rate, Gilmore could be a valuable insurance piece for the team in 2024. Regrettably, Trevon Diggs was lost for the season when he sustained a torn ACL earlier this season. ACLs are tricky injuries, and the timetable for Diggs’ return could take longer than expected. Gilmore, playing alongside DaRon Bland, has given Dallas a layer of stability they’d be lost without. The team signing Gilmore beyond this season would provide some assurance, otherwise they will be venturing into the unknown of searching for a boundary corner while Diggs recovers.
