Meanwhile, Trey Lance is looking sharp at training camp. Jerry needs to take notice and understand there is another way to fill the QB1 role. Do not sink the Cowboys' ability to acquire talent just to sign Dak beyond this season. In the entertainment business, they say "break a leg" to wish for good luck. Break a leg, Dak.
Lance is a free agent after this season, just like Dak.

Serious question, why should Lance not ask for Jordon Love money if he indeed is going to be the starter moving forward???

Love played exactly 1 season for the Packers before they handed him $55 a year..........If that is the market, why would Lance sign a long-term contract for anything less than that himself???

Dak hasn't accomplished anything. He feasts on the NFC Least and mediocre or bad teams. Lots of qbs can do that.
What has Tua accomplished???

What has Herbert accomplished???

What has Lawrence accomplished???

These three QBs have a exactly 1 playoff win combined and yet all of them make over $50 million a year...............but Dak is delusional thinking he can get paid more than these guys on the open market???

They aren't worth it either. But they are younger going into their first contracts. They have an upside. We know what Dak is. He's never going to take us where we want to go. Looking at that deer in the headline look last year in the playoffs, I don't know how anyone can doubt it. The pressure will be even greater after he gets paid. Dak will get his money somewhere else. If Jerry caves in this franchise will be crippled for years to come not that it matters with Dumb and Dumber in charge. .

He can get more. If Dak was happy with more as in 55M-57M he would be signed IMO. They made him an offer two weeks ago, doubt is was lower.
He said he has an obligation to his NFL brotherhood to maximize the contract, not an obligation to win for his team mates or Cowboys fans. Many think he wants 60M +/year.

Tom Brady took less than other QB's and has 7 rings, but Dak needs to take care of his brotherhood.

Serious question. Do you think those same teams would offer those QBs 60M if they were going into their 8th or 9th season and they still didn't do anything?

This is a problem for today’s GM’s and owners. The rules they wanted changed over the years to result in more offense to get more of the casual fans is where we are at. Now average QB’s can put up stats in today’s NFL. You no longer only pay an elite QB who can actually get you super bowls you now also pay a QB like Dak who can put up nice stats but isn’t taking you anywhere. The NFL is all about the money, if stats bring more money well than you have to pay that average QB more.
The NFL isn’t about winning anymore it’s all about the money. That goes for both owners and players.

For one thing they are all significantly YOUNGER than Dak. It is almost certain that all three will exceed what Dak has accomplished.

What quarterback sir? We lucked up into getting Romo and Dak. So again. What quarterback?
You answered your own question. It isn't hard to find mid level QBs if all you want to do is tread the waters of "staying relevant" like Jerry does.

You guys made the same doom and gloom predictions of 5 win or less seasons in perpetuity if we got rid of Romo, but that didn't happen did it?

We can easily find the next mid QB who can pad stats against bottom feeders, but isn't elite enough to win 3 straight in the playoffs.

If he has a season like Love just did he will ask for that kind of money.

Dak is getting high on his own supply.
He's under the illusion or delusion that he is an Elite QB.
He doesn't understand or refuses to understand that Jerry can't and doesn't want to lock up the cap for a QB that has failed to produce any playoff success.
If he signs him to a long term deal not only will it affect the ability to sign or resign players, it will be a disaster too if the team doesn't have any playoff sucess this season.
The fans will be ready to move on from him and resent Dak and Jerry for doing the deal.
Dak isn't a Force Multiplier type QB where he helps elevate the talent around him. He requires superior talent around him to succeed.
Having Dak at such a high cap rate will hurt in getting the talent necessary to help him succeed. So Jerry doesn't want to commit himself to Dak and continue to be a mid level team. He will likely want to go the route of acquiring and keeping superior talent while having a QB who doesn't eat up so much cap space and could possibly give you the same or better results than Dak.
Regardless of all that he’s not delusional in knowing what he will either get from Jerry or from someone else. He knows what his value is and he has nothing but time before he gets it.

Spoken by someone who probably only became a fan with Romo and Dak. They weren’t here during the Hutchinson, Carter, Bledsoe, Testverde, or Flowers days.

I was here then and it was awful but I can't say the years since haven't been much better. This fanbase is a lot like Jerry. As long as we stay relevant it's okay even though we have no chance to do anything. This team is snakebitten and so are the fans. If Dak leaves it will force Jerry to actually do something because his one great fear is that the Cowboys aren't relevant.Only putting off the inevitable anyway. At least when you hit rock bottom there is nowhere else to go but up. We've been in the middle for 25 years with no hope to ever get out of it. The Cowboys have been lucky the NFC East has been so weak and so have the NFC the last few years. Sooner or later they will leave the Cowboys behind.

I'm a Dak hater.

But I understand that he will reset the market when he signs.

It won't be in Dallas, thankfully, but there will be a team (probably Vegas or Giants) that will be dumb enough to reset the market for him.

He's not elite. He's not even very good. That will become clear when he leaves Dallas.
If the Giants sign dak and they go one and done in the playoffs Giants fans will burn that stadium to the ground. My money is on the raiders.

WTH are you talking about? Have you watched camp? Have you watched reports? Have you listened to anyone? In 10 days Lance has had one good two minute drill, and less than a handful of good throws. Some have said he’s the worst player at any position on the field. Others have said they couldn’t trade him for a 7th because of how bad he’s been. Y’all never stop do you?
