Dak on getting the ball to Dez

This is what people don't seem to get. Good teams don't overspend on resources that the scheme doesn't require. If Garrett's scheme isn't built on having a Dez-type receiver, then you either get rid of Dez or get rid of the scheme. Otherwise your salary cap is always going to be out of whack.

In some sense having a WR that scares opponents enough to have them scheme to take him out does help out in JG's protection scheme.

The obvious problem is when your scheme is designed around ball control in order to protect your defense and protect your young QB there is little margin for errors that turn TD's into field goals.

You can only protect so much and if you've got that much to protect you better be luckier than you are good.

Think of the things we do best offensively.

1. Running the ball which involves more imposing your will than actual scheme.

2. Romo running around and making a play outside of the scheme.

3. Dez jumping up over people and making a play.

I agree. So a couple of plays I saw Dez in the slot, so what does he do. He runs up field or it's a run. I would put Dez every dang where on that offense to get him the ball. In the back field, motioning to the slot, and EVERYTIME I see the defense coming up, my first read would be Dez. I'd put him in a bunch formation, at FB, at TE, any and everywhere possible. Why? Because he's a scoring threat, and that's what this offense needs.

Also, I'd ditch the 2 TE set and bring in Dunbar because that automatically puts speed on the field. He would be in my base set with either Morris or Elliott. Also, I would have Butler starting opposite Dez, and I'd use Butler in the slot as well. My receivers would be catching balls all over that field.

Another thing I'd do is put Whitehead in to "catch the ball". Whitehead has the type of speed that blows the top off of defenses and we need speed on offense.

Trading Dez does not help our offense. Period.

Frederick played like garbage we should trade him too. And Collins he got beat a lot.

The thing is.. I've seen Dez catch a 2 yard pass and take it to the house.

All quick passes don't need to go to Witten and Beasley but we'll run 21 go routes with Dez so he clears out space for guys like Witten and Beasley who aren't going to beat defenses and make big plays consistently.

It's not one game. It's game #17....and counting. Last Sunday was simply a re-run of last year.

There's a handful of posters that keep repeating this in multiple threads, as if they say it enough it will somehow make it true.

It's a new season. Last season is gone. Done and and over with. This is not the same team.

We lost our 1st game. What does that mean? It means we're 0-1. That's it.

Makes no sense to pay Dez that kind of money and have that "take what defense gives you" approach while calling the same game with Dez EVERY GAME. Im not saying force dez the ball I, but feel like 13 year olds in madden are more creative with dez.

He did it with TO, Miles, and now Dez.

The Giants played two deep and took Dez out. That left the middle of the field open and some of the underneath stuff particularly the drags and seams to the S and Y. They were all over the RBs and the short stuff as well as the outside.

That's kind of my stance. As long as we are building towards something and its had to stomach a season where we suck and our future....no one. But factor in that our base is Zeke and Dak....hopefully Jaylan Smith is a part of that.....its kind of exciting.
