It was THE reason. Before Mahomes's contract, KC was going to have to release Jones. Pat's contract allowed them to keep him.

If there is no season, then it is very likely that the cap goes down the next year and possibly more after that. There is going to be ALOT of lost revenue if there is no season this year.
Cap goes down - Dak's contract offer would go down.
That shouldn't be too hard to understand.

This is shrewd assuming there is even a season this year. NFLPA is talking with owners to guarantee 500k to each player if the season is scrapped. Philadelphia has already said no fans allowed at sporting events this year.

so Dak plays on the tag and could get 500k this year. Even if we tag him next year he has a lot of actual money to make up to come out ahead of not signing last year or this year.

my thoughts exactly, Dak is definitely rolling the dice. With a new head coach and his abilities still in question, not to mention a backup QB capable of starting, he's taking a risk that frankly doesn't favor him.

    The reward simply isn't there.

If he'd signed for the offered 33 mil last year, he'd already have a huge signing bonus and would be way ahead of the game.

The "Con" fell flat on Dak's face as Jerry didn't take the bait.
Dak is done in Dallas after the season and his next destination is another team's bench.

You know why they're about the money? Because owners raked players over the coals first and had to be forced to share the pot. A history conveniently forgotten by those begrudging "dumb athletes" making a ton of cash. So players hired professionals to advocate for them because owners already showed they couldn't be trusted. Same as if you ever needed to contend against charges brought against you by municipalities looking for money or someone to blame. Would you be looking for a mediator or someone who has your best interests in mind?

You hire an agent to get you the most money. You hire a publicist for you image.

Jerry Jones does not believe in Dak or he would give him a 4 year deal. Think about it. The Dumbo GM said that you would not believe the check he would write for another Super Bowl. Dak's agent knows this and will have him write big checks (if it were true). But, Jerry is thinking the face of the franchise and the franchise QB is around somewhere that is not Dak Prescott. Dumb butt move which is why the Deadskins is still looking for a name and a QB after letting Kurt Cousins walk to the Vikings and beat the Saints in a playoff game for the first time after 2 franchise tags. Dak 1-2 before his first franchise tag. So you are playing around with a young playoff experienced QB over 1 less year on a contract. B.S. He does not like the face of his franchise QB.

Cowboys have signed all the free agents the Cowboys are going to sign. Anymore players on defense would insure Dak Prescott's agent strategy (he has never had a losing season as a starting QB at any level).

Actually, Dak is going to get what he wants. A short term deal (2 franchise tags) with a better defense, and offense and then be free agent QB in 2023. The agent is doing his job.

"Do your Job!". Jerry the Dumbo GM Jones needs to do his job and keep his franchise QB and stop following the football brilliance of Dan Snyder.

Damage of player politics? Riiiight. This was said some years ago and the NFL is still just as strong. Those people are full of hot air on social media on this boycott stuff. This will never come into play. NFL will always be king.

I agree with Dak's stance here. QB's salaries will continue to rise. Why lock in long term to a booming market? He'd be a fool to. Go the Cousins route. Play on the tag for a lot of money. Then sign a longer term deal. He will maximize his earning potential going this route. I know fans won't like this because they don't care about the players and only want to win while having the players make as little as possible. Good for him.

Well he is insured, probably to the tune of 50 million, but yeah that's a factor.

This guy is getting awful advice. That's obvious.

    Yep.

And how many more endorsements do you get as QB of the Dallas Cowboys as opposed to the Jacksonville Jaguars?

Could have gotten over 100 million, guaranteed. And likely a fat signing bonus check right after he signed his name. Likely more in just the signing bonus then he had made in the last 4 years.
