Dak Prescott is better than Derek Carr and it’s not even close

More years of playing the quarterback position.
At this point, Dak is still an unknown. He had a great rookie season - no question. But he'll need to build consistency, something Carr has already done and Dak hasn't.
If Dak has a great year this year, I'm ready to move him up the ranks, maybe above Carr given what Carr does this year. But I can't put him up there yet.

And yet, all those more years playing the qb position, Dak had a better season last year in terms of completion % and qbr than Carr has ever had. So much for that so called experience.

Dak was consistent all thru preseason and all thru the regular season, and the 1 playoff game. He was 3rd in qbr behind Matt Ryan and Tom Brady.

You make good points. But Elway and Young evolved from scrambling quarterbacks to pocket passers.
Also, Dak was not really a scrambling quarterback. His scrambles were by design. He was not a one-read, run-first quarterback like RGIII and Johnny Manziel

Agreed. Where do people get the idea that Dak is a scrambler anyway? He has some decent power and straight line speed, but he's not particularly elusive. He's a traditional pocket passer for the most part.

Lazy viewers with an agenda/bias.

Agreed, Scipio, Dak is a legitimate pocket passer. I had threads last season that I made where I compared him to Brady. Way before Kellerman and Co were doing such, but who's counting :)

He's stroic in the pocket and has laser-like accuracy.

He's no damn McNair/McNabb/etc, that's for sure, and such a lazy comparison.

He takes flight only when he has to. He's almost a Brady/Rodgers hybrid, if he is to reach his ceiling

The cowboys offense is built in such a way as to make only the best of defenses a real contest. With the best O line in football you set the tone with blocking up front either pass or run. There are only a couple of DL's in the league that can fight it to a draw. The Giants are about the only ones we will meet that have a D line that could do that.

In this day and age of FA and salary cap there is no way to build a complete D like you could in the years past; the Ravens were the only team and that was fairly early in the cap era that had one; none have come lose since. The talk about Seattle's D and even Denver's D comparing them to the past is BS. Each had significant holes that the great D's of the past like Doomsday and others did not have.

to beat the Boys offense you have to be able to handle our O line and frankly there is probably only 2-3 teams in the league that can.

I would bet everything I own on it.

Derek Carr is the next great NFL quarterback. It's up to the Raiders to not screw it up, which is difficult for that knucklehead franchise.

I've seen a ton of Dak Prescotts have promising rookie years. He's still potential. Carr is far more polished at this point. He makes far more difficult throws on a regular basis.

Certainty doesn't mean you can't win with Dak, but not without being a run-first offense at this point.

We'll know what Dak is by 2020.

It's safe to say you've not seen a ton of Dak Prescotts since no QB in NFL history has had a rookie season as good as Dak did. He is now the Gold Standard that all future rookie QB's will be judged. Carr is a fine player but he's only had 1 great year out of his 3 seasons in the league. Dak is 1 for 1. If Dak actually improves this year, which is possible given his dedication and work ethic, he could very well be the face of the NFL in a few years. Time will tell.

I couldn't agree more. Those that think Dak could have (for example) an RGIII -like fall have no idea what they saw last year. Robert Griffin in 2012 wasn't even in the same galaxy as Dak in 2016. Plus, RGIII's legs were a bigger part of his game than his arm. Once he blew out his knee, he lost that part of his game (remember that read-option with Alfred Morris that nobody could stop for a while?).

Dak is a pocket quarterback with running skills. He's going to be a force in this league for a very, very long time.

Believe what you want, and I get the "Cowboys" love you have for Dak, but I would bet it all that exactly 32 general managers would trade Dak for Carr.

I would take that bet in a heartbeat. Maybe you have forgotten how bad Carr was last December when he played the Chiefs. This was a very meaningful game with huge division and playoff ramifications. Carr wasn't just bad, he was historically bad:

Carr was 17-of-41 for 117 yards. Read that real quick again. He threw for 117 yards.

Carr averaged 2.85 yards per pass attempt. NBC reported that yards-per-play average is the second-lowest in the history of football. Jesse Palmer has the distinct honor of holding the lowest at 2.6, set when he quarterbacked the Giants. So Carr barely beat out The Bachelor dude.

This is it.

Carr coming into 2016 was rather meh.

He had a good 2016.

And it wasn't as good as Prescott's 2016.

It was a horrible game. Far worse than any game Prescott had last season.

And now with the cap hit I greatly doubt a majority of GM's would take Carr over Prescott.
