When has a team won a Superbowl with an average/good QB being paid as an elite quarterback? Never springs to mind. People reference Stafford but he's better than Prescott for a start and he wasn't being paid like Prescott. This model does not work. Computer says no. Unless the Cowboys are able to draft a generational defense with an amazing offensive line then...prepare yourself for further disappointment my good man.

I know the number one thing for the Jones-apologists-who-masquerade-as-Cowboys-fans is to deflect blame away from their idols, but how do you spin this one?

If you truly believe Dak is the problem, would that make the Jones' willing victims? Because they keep (over)paying Dak. Last time, they gave him the most leverage an NFL player has ever had in a contract situation. This time they waited until the last minute to pay him.

95% of NFL teams will try like heck to get these deals done in the off-season and then use the immediate cap room typically gained from these types of extensions to improve the team. Not the Jones'. They wait until the last possible minute and have completely waste the opportunity to improve the roster.

Years from now, they are going to do a documentary on just how bad Stephen Jones is at contract negotiations and (mis)managing the cap.

So Dak will be 35 by the time this contract ends, I dont see him playing past that. So I guess we can be glad that this is pretty much his last contract here
Interestingly enough, this season will say a lot about Dak. He's been pretty well protected by the OL, despite what the homers say, now he is an older quarterback with less talent around him. There two camps here, those who think that Dak has been covering up some of the deficiencies of the team he is on, and those who think that some of his supporting cast have been covering up some of his deficiencies.

Good.

But we had no choice - and that is the GM's fault.

Yup, and, other than maybe Ewers, the QB options in the draft for the next two or three years look terrible. So, it's not like we had other viable options. And Ewers will probably be in a top 5 pick.

Only in the NFL and under Jerry Jones can a player who’s been a significant factor in recent lack of playoff success be given such an unmerited contract to him. Any SB winning and competing for it organization would’ve passed a while ago and not have been intercepted.

Welp, hope he can at least get us to the NFC hampionship game in those 4 years, at the least......like the guy but but still needs to lead this franchise somewhere, these playoff losses are getting old.

Let me be clear here this is not that far off from the $230 million contract that deshaun Watson signed it was fully guaranteed somehow this is dumb and yet deshaun Watson's contract was what 3 or 4 years ago he hasn't done anything to deserve that this contract while it's four years 240 it only has $231 million guaranteed which makes it a bright in the same neighborhood that deshaun Watson got three years ago Prescott coming off a record breaking year for him where his best years led the league in scoring second in MVP voting second team all pro the last three years he's played exceptional yes we're falling short in the playoffs most people see that it's not only him you have to have a quarterback in this league to compete at all and we've been contending we've been into the playoffs 5 of the last 8 years..

Do as much as people keep saying by far he's the highest paid player in the NFL that is not true it's not by far it's by $1 million if you look at the details deshaun watsons was $230 million and Prescott is $231 million..

And I'll take Prescott over Watson every single day and twice on Sunday he's a better person he's a better leader and he's a better player it may not be by much but don't tell me Prescott in the last three years compared to Watson's last three years since he got that deal who's played better?

By the way I'm gonna post this on every single thread because I don't think people realize that deshaun Watson made that kind of guaranteed money and if the contract details are correct they're only $1 million more Prescott literally is only making $1 million more on his deal then deshaun Watson got on his that is not that big a deal Jerry did not just go way overboard with this that's probably what they were looking at...

So what was it when he said he didn't play for money or he was only doing it for the brotherhood? Lying?
Those two items aren't mutually exclusive. Just because the money is available doesn't mean that's it's an end to itself.

Though I would not argue with anyone who says Dak only plays for the money, if for no other reason than I can't get inside the man's head. Whether he does or does not play just for the money is only known for certain to Dak himself...
