That was never intention. Jethro played it well in public’s eye.
Bingo! He knew the backlash he and Dak would have rec'd if this same contract was signed in March, especially after the GB game. Both sides always knew it was going to get done before the season started.
Hell, Stephen Jones stopped short of admitting it to Albert Breer. As he put it.....it gave the media/fans something to write/talk about but they were never that concerned.

Top pay or Market Price isn’t a pecking order for QB’s.
Well then perhaps it should be.

It's kind of like an auction in my mind. Bunch of people standing around bidding on a classic car. There's nothing really remarkable about the car but it's the only one for bid at the time so everyone keeps upping the bid.

End of the day, someone is going to grossly overpay for a somewhat unremarkable car.

$60 million a year (with virtually all of it guaranteed) is grossly overinflated for any current QB not named Mahomes

I see what they did.

They could cut Dak post June 1 in 2027.

RELEASE

2027 Dead Cap: $17,000,000
2028 Dead Cap: $17,000,000
2027 Savings: $45,000,000

they basically kicked the can for 2025-26.

If things don’t work out, they can even do a post June 1 cut in 2026.

POST-6/1 RELEASE

2026 Dead Cap: $28,005,000
2027 Dead Cap: $34,000,000
2026 Savings: $40,000,000

Since the team was on the hook for $40 mil in 2025, and $12 mil in 2026, this is actually a smart move by Jerry.

Bottom line. Dak gets at least two seasons to finally win some playoff games.

if he fails, Jerry can bail.

the no tag / no trade doesn’t matter.

Your comment only makes sense, if he wasn’t on year nine with multiple head coaches, offensive coordinators, wr, tight ends, o lines, running backs, etc. He’s in year nine, what you see or have seen is what you’re going to get:/. Stupid to pay a bus driver that kind of money. By his resume I should be ceo of apple, what have I done, nothing besides be better than him at what I do. Apple unlike the cowboys expects proven results which means at least one year of winning the Super Bowl of tech world with minimum of second place with a conference championship. Heck he’s not even in the top ten when it comes playoff performances amongst active QBs.
But this is the Year it all changes for Dak and the rest of the team in the Playoffs...:star::dance:

we must have been watching a different game. Under 60% completions and 179 yards on 32 attempts? I will grant you that he looked sharp on the first touchdown drive with a couple of really good throws but other than that there was nothing about his performance that screamed "I should be paid more than anybody in NFL history"

the defense and special teams won this game plain and simple

Dakota drove the bus well enough, but again that's not worth $60 million a year
Jerry thinks he is lol, and jerry is the worlds best GM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He even said that recently.

The signing bonus was $80 million... How do they pay that? Do they pay a percentage of the bonus added to his regular check for each game over the length of the contract?
They don't pay that in one lump some do they?

They can extend it over the life of the contract.
