why is the cut off 20 and 5? wouldn't 27 passing td's and 1 rush td be even better?
It fits their narritive....

LOL...........cut him he sucks.
Where are all the petty trolls? Remarkably silent.
The stat underscores how hard it is to rush for 5 tds from qb.why is the cut off 20 and 5? wouldn't 27 passing td's and 1 rush td be even better?
There is no narrative. The stat speaks for itself. It fits their narritive....
FTFYThe stat underscores how little interest QBs have in rushing for TDS.
Couple it with 20 tds...that is pretty much nothing.

This is a good point and one I have mentioned before. It is a different game than it was. You cannot accurately compare records set by Romo or Dak to Aikman, Staubach. Different environment for QB's and receivers.I'm of the opinion (and not just about Dak) that all such accomplishments have to be understood in the context of the game. We're at a point where quarterbacks are smashing passing records all the time because the rules of the game have continually been changed to favor the offense, especially the passing game.
We've never seen as many QBs with 100-plus passer ratings like we are seeing now, so the conclusion is either the game is favoring the QBs or these QBs are just so much better than their predecessors.
It's a good accomplishment for Dak, but it isn't something we can even compare to what he might have done if this was five years ago or 10, so there's no reason to use it as a measure against other QBs. It stands on its own merits IMO.
Then Dak is one of two people ever to have 19 and 5 in three consecutive seasons to start their career. It's a technique called "multiple endpoints." The stat was designed with the specific intent of finding something that makes Dak come out better than anyone. At least 20 passing TDs AND at least 5 rushing TDs AND first three seasons. Nobody would ever look at this stat as something meaningful out of the blue. Instead, someone noticed that Dak happened to just clear these numbers in each of the 3 years and built a stat around that fact.
Cam misses only because he had 19 TDs his second season, one short of the requisite 20. Never mind that he had 7 more combined TDs in the three years and only in his second year did Dak out-TD him, by one. The stat is designed to keep Cam and everyone else out.

You really don't know how records work
They are all technicalities ......consecutive matters..... ask Joe DiMaggio
Are you just guessing that he is at the bottom of the league? If that's true, then it fails miserably. Dak's passing TDs total is at the bottom of the league over the last 3 years, and running three yards into the endzone while 11 defenders chase Zeke the other way is not a significant skill.
He actually had 22 this year.. so...there is that.A strange thing to say, when in fact he's getting worse...
I wonder what happens when you add 18 rushing tds to the total? This is not true.
Here is the Passing TD rankings according to pro-football-reference for Dak.
2016 16th
2017 14th
2018 16th.
Hardly "at the bottom of the league over the last 3 years".
It’s an abitrary recordIt’s not a record.

If it was a record, it would be a really, really dumb record.
Patrick Mahomes threw for 50 TD's this season. That's 16 less than Dak did in 3 years. Cool stat, though.
They are when your qb has the most game winning drives in the nfl over that time period.QB winz aren't real... so it's not only not a record, it's imaginary trivia.
However the Cowboys 32 wins in spite of Dak over the last 3 years is an official all-time NFL record.
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott went into the NFL record books today, having at least 20 touchdown passes and five rushing touchdowns in each of his first three seasons.
What makes the stat even more impressive is that no other quarterback in the history of the league has done this in consecutive seasons. Amazingly, Prescott has done it in all three of his NFL seasons.

Congratulations to Cam on his new record. If he can sit still, I can conjure up a new record in about 60 seconds.
This record is actually more impressive because that’s a lot of rushing yards. Far more impressive than Dak running one way off of a ball fake while 11 defenders chase Zeke like keystone cops...
Seriously such a fantastic and impressive accomplishment, 20 & 5. That is astounding I tell ya!
