Romo, for some reason never got the respect from other players(assumption based off the top 100).
I don't know why. Wasn't a diva/trash talker or controversial. Carried a team on his back for almost a decade.

I feel Dak was rated that high for how poised he was, and he didn't looked overwhelmed as the season went on. Made smart plays and reads-with a few mistakes here and there. But for a guy to come in as a rookie and be thrown into the NFL like that and not falter was impressive. Is #14 too high? Maybe. Hard to say based off one year of play. But there's no doubt in my mind he has the work ethic and drive to be listed in the top 20 here on out.

Please provide some semblance of reason or stats to show me different. Romo is a great QB. Ive always said that and ive always loved Romo. However. If you listen to the defense speak about Dak, if you listen to Dez speak about Dak, heck if you even listen to Witten talk about Dak. Its night and day different then when they spoke of Romo. Im just saying what i see. Not like im making it up.

You show how it's different. If you haven't heard similar praise for Romo, it's from choosing to ignore it.

Im not saying he didn't have praise. Im saying the team seems to believe in Dak more than Romo. He commands the huddle better. Thats just my personal opinion from what I have seen. Lets not forget we are talking about a kid who also led a HORRIBLE Mississippi team to being one of the top in the country. He is a leader. Period. Romo had questions most of his career about his leadership ability. Havent heard that ONCE about Dak.

It's the offseason. Gotta have something to talk about until regular season.
Yep. And I don't have an issue with it, at all. It does provide good discussion. Some, however, take it way too serious, and treat it as Gospel. It's just some random interns masquerading as players offering opinions. lol

I completely respect the person who posted this but I just can't believe it's even a topic. There are so so many factors as to why this is and alot of is not a knock on Romo. It's just another vehicle to bash Romo ( not saying this was the poster intentions at all ). I just think it sucks for Romo. The man deserve the respect but you can't convince everyone. So to each its own

I am a huge Romo fan but this ranking is unfair to Dak. Getting too much credit for a small body of work sets the stage for overhyped expectations

I recall someone being awarded the Nobel Peace prize before they ever stepped in office and actually earn it, ( even though they had previously been spotted walking on water).

Sure. That another way of looking at it for sure. I mean we all know he prob will have worse numbers than he did his rookie year , and when he does people need to know it's ok. It's realistic. This kid is going to special but let it happen guys, don't anoint the guy so quickly. Let him earn it. He will be a much better player and leader for it

Nice slant

At least Dak had an epic rookie year before getting the recognition. Much better than the tarnishing of the Nobel Peace Prize:muttley:

Unfortunately, Romo has no chance at the hall of fame.
Ironic that he obliterated the Cowboy passing records of the two greatest QB's that Dallas ever had. He has like 83 more TD passes than Aikman and still 31 less picks than him.

Romo's worst full season has as many TD's as Aikman's best season. Aikman only eclipsed the 20+ TDs once in 12 seasons. Heck, Dak scored more TD's last year than Aikman ever did in a season.

Just sayin

Sadly, I can see voters saying, where's the success in the postseason?
Or keeping up the mantra that he was a choker.
Which is unfair, but sometimes how it works out.

But but but he is a choker. He is not clutch. He sucks. Blah blah.blah. The singke biggest misconception in pro sports. Why people hate this guy is beyond me. The only reason why the cowboys were ever relevant was because of Romo. Without Romo Jerry would have been the laughing stock of the league. He sure as hell saved Garretts *** for sure. Can't we just stop comparing who is better. Let's just be thankful and appreciative for Romo and let's enjoy Daks future.

Tony Romo’s supporters have even more ammunition in arguing the former Cowboys quarterback was underrated and underappreciated during his 14-year career.

It took Dak Prescott exactly one season to rate higher in NFL Network’s top 100 than Romo ever did. The poll of 902 NFL players ranked Prescott 14th. Among quarterbacks, only Derek Carr, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and Matt Ryan ranked higher.
Romo, according to Barry Horn of the Dallas Morning News, never ranked among even the top-20 players. Romo’s highest finish ever was 34th after the 2014 season when he led the league with a 69.9 completion percentage and 113.2 passer rating in going 12-3 with 3,705 passing yards, 34 touchdowns and nine interceptions. NFL Network has conducted the poll since 2011.

Romo retired holding most of the team’s passing records.

In his rookie season, Prescott went 13-3, completing 67.8 percent of his passes for 3,667 yards with 23 touchdowns, four interceptions and a 104.9 passer rating.

Running back Ezekiel Elliott is the highest-rated Cowboy in the poll, ranking in the top 10. NFLN will reveal the order of the top 10 on Monday.

The poll, of course, has created controversy among both players and fans, so let this debate commence.
Great post

Well.... I value the opinions of players more than writers. I love Romo but Dak did this as a rookie which is being lost on most casual fans. Listen players notice more than you think. Did Romo get slighted in previous Top 100's I am sure an argument can be made for that but it's subjective.

Thrilled that we landed Dak.

But yes, just put it this way, in Romo's 2014 season, he had a higher QB rating, compl %, and TD/Int differential than Dak in BOTH the regular season and playoffs.
Yet was rated much lower in this poll.

He has always been vastly underrated..imo. He's no Brady, but who is?

Im fine with those that disagree, as long as they're rational about it.
I think the 'Boys would've had huge playoff success if they had defenses like our previous SB teams had. They didn't, so the results were what they were.

He's also gone now and we have a potentially great one replacing him.
Cant wait for year two in the Dak and Zeke era to begin.
Best 4th round pick of all time :yourock::yourock::yourock::yourock:
