Throw in Tampa this season, I'm pretty sure Tampa is going to make the playoffs this year, and that is 0-7 vs playoff caliber teams.

I'm sorry, but for $40 mill a year I need better than 0-7 against playoff teams.

Yep, and to be fair we're converging into the cross roads. In the recent past there's been a number of contentious considerations: Offensive play calling, gameplan strategy, injuries, O-Line deficiencies, RB's, WR's. It appears, over the past 3 weeks, alot of the question marks have been overcome (not totally eradicated but improved).

The Dak situation always seemed to have been shrouded in a blame game and apportioning contributory factors (inc as you say the differential between performances vrs playoff and cannon fodder in the East). Everyone is in agreement that the Defense is providing a winning scenario, so with the overall improvement in Offense (since Denver) the stage should be set for Dak to take over and steer this team to something extremely exciting.

The benefits of where we are now is that; we dont have to rush Dak, there's no playing when unfit (which could be attributed to second half of last season) and if the gameplan isnt successful with Dak at the helm there is a decision to be made.

Defenses are going to play Dak the way the last 2 teams have, from now forward.
Those stats are the ones who need to get used to for dak.

So far Dak is 40 million dollars worth of meh. Rush has been 1 million dollars worth of let's go baby!

Let me ask you (and others ) this.......would you give Cooper $30M today as your starter? $30M is 2022 franchise value for QBs which is likely the floor for the starters.

Absolutely not. While Rush is playing a hot hand, he is a game managing QB. While he may get a look by a team to start after this season, he is not a $30M QB....just as Dak is not a $40M QB. Dallas needs to find a blended QB that has Rush's poise and field vision with Dak's former ability to scramble and slightly better arm strength.

It helps tremendously when your defense is being compared to those in the 70's.

I see what you are saying but it's the floor for starting QBs. In other words, this is what it will take to keep your starting QB off the market with the franchise tag.

Leaving out rookie contracts, there are guys like Trubisky (just relieved of starter role), Winston, Mariota, and Bridgewater who have lower salaries in starters roles. While they signed as back-ups, I think a debate can be made for Rush earning high back-up money to be a starter. I doubt his agent can make a viable debate to receive anything near $30M/year money.

Regardless, let's hope Rush keeps helping Dallas win in the here and now.

He's a free agent after the season. If you want to keep him as your future starter, there are two options......long-term contract or tag ( $29M ). Otherwise, he walk....

Oh I agree and do not see Dallas offering Rush a $5M-$7M/year contract to be a back-up given their other contract issues and you have to wonder if Rush wants a crack as a full-time starter role elsewhere....or if a team will offer that to him.

Looking at the post injury Dak last year and having concerns I think is more than valid, and shouldn't just be dismissed as hater talk. It's quite a mixed bag when you really dive into each game, but something was very wrong with the offense last year, and it does nothing for people to hide behind the #1 ranking. It may have been Dak, it may have been poor OL play, it may have been KM, and truth is it's probably some combination of those plus more. The reality is when Dak gets back you may see good Dak or you may see bad Dak. Not sure anyone really knows for sure what to expect there.

As always, good stuff @thunderpimp91

No matter what statistics anyone presents the simple facts that everyone should agree on is that it's always a roller coaster with Dak regardless of his statistics and that he has always come up pretty small not only against the best competition but when he is surrounded by anything less than great play. I don't mean the team has come up small, I mean his individual play has left a lot to be desired.
Sure, there is a possibility even if he had played relatively well we would have probably still lost some of them but because his play was so bad it sure felt like we had no chance. Personally, I just have no confidence in him to play at a high level & find a way to win on a consistent basis. Sorry, it's just where we are after 6 years.

Uhhh or course not. He has accomplished nothing. If he took us to a superbowl or even a conference championship game this year then perhaps I would consider paying him out. At least then you are paying a guy who has brought some success. Even if he flunks out after that he can still be fondly remembered. So far he has worked him way up to 10 million per year in my books. He still has a long way to go.

While rush has had some recent success he’s been available before and I simply don’t see a long list of takers
Beyond the zone most people know it’s the defense that is the main reason for the 3-1 start rush hasn’t been a deterrent but yes certainly not scaring anyone

Agreed but hypothetically Cooper Rush manages to help Dallas beat the Rams and Philly thereby making him 6-0 as a starter; Dak comes back and plays the rest of the season. Rush just positioned himself out of Dallas as you know how teams sometimes reach for a starter at QB (look at Jimmy G.).

Elite QBs can have a pass for a bad game every now and then, it happens even to the best

Nothing truer than this. Folks go crazy if an elite QB has a bad game as if it proves he isn't elite.

Fact is the reason some elite QB's have statistical bad games is because they are trying to help out remedial receivers or overcome adversity to find a way to win.

I was watching Rodgers a few years back and he was working with young, inexperienced, not very talented receivers (think his best receivers were all out with injury). Defense was of course sitting on routes. Guys couldn't create any separation. AR was putting balls where only his guy had a chance or intentionally putting it in the ground if there wasn't a window. His guys still only managed to catch like 1 out of every 4-5. At the end of the game his stats looked horrible but reality is he had put almost every ball right where he wanted it and at least gave his guys a chance. It was a high level performance regardless of what the stats indicated.

Nice analysis of Dak in game one from an admitted "Not a Dak guy."

As much as I think Dak does not have the leadership or maybe the skills to lead this team where it needs to go. I am totally against giving Cooper anything close to franchise QB money. Too many memories of Matt Flynn or Nick Foles or other countless NFL back ups that caught lightning in a bottle and plain flat out sucked when it became their time. That being said something different needs to be done.
