Dak wasn't that good last night **merged**

I can say the same thing for a long list of QBs in HOF who don't have a ring....an accurate QB gives you a chance...one who is not accurate gives you zero chance...all you have to do is look at all the QBs who played in the superbowl....

so if you want to believe Dak can get us there.... that's your choice...but be prepared for disappointment.... blame the coaches....then next set of coaches come and blame them and then blame original coaches for ruining Dak....as if he was once in a lifetime talent....

I take his predecessor over Dak 11 times out of 10

Well Said Bruddah

In 2016, Dak Prescott played under better conditions than any rookie QB in history, if not any QB period. His offensive line was a step beyond dominant, giving the Cowboys a commanding running game and its quarterback routinely clean pockets from which to throw. Defenses were still treating Dez Bryant like a No. 1 receiver, rolling safety help his way. That clarified Prescott's reads, presenting obvious one-on-one throws in other parts of the field. Underneath, Prescott had the ultimate security blanket in tight end Jason Witten, and a mismatch-maker in shifty slot ace Cole Beasley. On top of it all, Prescott was new, so defenses had little film on him. The young QB capitalized on these conditions, posting a 104.9 passer rating and guiding the Cowboys to a 13-3 season.

To outside observers, America’s Team had its franchise QB. But within the NFL, some of the old guard cautioned to pump the brakes. History suggested—nay, guaranteed—that those perfect conditions would not last. Prescott should only be evaluated once his circumstances normalized.

Sure enough, they have. This season, that offensive line has been less imposing without superstar center Travis Frederick, who is out indefinitely while he recovers from Guillain-Barre Syndrome, a disorder that affects the nervous system. Without Frederick, Ezekiel Elliott and the ground game has been, at least by 2016 standards, spotty. Defenses figured out last year that Bryant was washed up; they stopped rolling coverage his way, and so this offseason the Cowboys stopped employing him. He’s now out of football. So is Jason Witten, who retired to fill Jon Gruden’s vacant MNF seat. Beasley is still around, but as anyone with even a smidgen of football acumen suspected, he’s more dynamic as a third or fourth option.

These aren’t dire straits Dallas is in, they’re regular NFL “straits,” which is why the Cowboys’ record since 2016—10-8, including their 1-1 start this year—is almost perfectly average. Quarterbacks get paid to spin gold from “perfectly average.” Head coach Jason Garrett and offensive coordinator Scott Linehan must figure out how to help Prescott do that.

Not Dire Straits? How about George Strait? The Bering Strait? Just what Strait are win in George?

he never had a defense like this and a running game like this or an OL like this, except for 2014 and we saw what he did....

so now, this gives you 10 years opportunity to come up with excuses for Dak...

And yet he got bounced out the 2nd round of the playoffs with 1800 yards of rushing from Murray, a BETTER version of the o line than 2016, a younger, preinjury dez, a younger jason witten. He hasn't been any further than Dak in the playoffs.

Lol, it's hilariously ironic that the second posters with hurt feelings over Dak threads are the same incessantly complainers that were creating Dez thread after Dez thread.
I never created one Dez thread, nor was I particularity sorry to see him go, his time was up. The one thing I was unhappy to see was that we didn't do an adequate job of replacing Dez. I'm not talking about Dez the last couple years, but the playmaker version of Dez. I'm not a Dez fan boy or a Dez hater. Cutting Dez presented an opportunity to upgrade the position, but our FO failed.

there is no denying that he has regressed. everyone is making excuses for this year's team is different, but last year he was awful too. yeah yeah yeah zeke wasn't there...but we had a decent running game....then its zeke we need not Dak...and any other QB could simply accomplish the same thing.
Dak missed Tyron Smith more than he missed Zeke during the time you are talking about last season. Dak didn't regress then, he was repressed then because he had no protection. That's not Dak's fault and I get the distinct impression you have no interest in fairly judging Dak.

Any qb period? That's a stretch.I would say Bradshaw and Montana had far superior casts from owner, coach on down. Their results speak for themselves.Anyone care to tally all the hall of famers they played with? Not sure what Dak will be. Maybe just a bus driver. Time will tell.

What was stretched ? He gave a clear picture of that 2016 roster , and how the league has adjusted . What is a stretch is your continual delusional fantasies about Dak improving .

This is laughable .

Aikman is HOF . Aikman was a warrior .

Romo : Injury riddled , Bad Luck ( Dez No catch Catch ) : But Romo was a warrior.

Dak : Dak can't be compared to either above .

Dak is analogous to RG!!! or Tebow : Dak blows
When did I not say Aikman was a warrior or is not a HOFmer? To me, it looks like you want to use Aikman as a big stick to beat up Romo, White, Meredith or any Cowboy QB who didn't win a Super Bowl or NFL Championship game (prior to the Super Bowl). You don't have to push Aikman on me. I've got his jersey and he's always been one of my faves. I know what he did and how well he did it. I also know what he looked after just eight seasons in the league and the decline was pretty steep after that. By no coincidence, he lost Irvin, Novacek and several key cogs from those championship teams. Troy was a great QB, but he wasn't the best all-time and he wasn't close. Not even the best Cowboys QB (though in the discussion). Just being objective here.

Saying he had the best situation of any qb ever. Read slower next time. I have no vested interest in Dak. Hope he succeeds. You are obviously suffering Dak derangement syndrome.

A writer for a newspaper that can not be mentioned here recently pointed out that Dak Prescott is very good at avoiding turnovers.

In 34 career starts, Prescott has not turned the ball over in 19 of them.

Dallas is 18-1 in those games.

The offense is trying to find itself and has so much to improve on, but the defense may be ready to hold the fort down this season.

A QB that doesn't give the ball away goes hand in hand with that.

I'm speaking of verdict and bleustar specifically.

Oh look. A Dak thread. Never seen one of those before. What a unique collectors item.

So has ET phoned home yet? I don't feel like looking for updates on all of the threads you created this summer.

Shut that bs up. Romo had a good defense at times. And still we didn’t win. Romo had two good running backs on the same team. We still didn’t win. Romo had TO and Witten in their primes. We still didn’t win. Romo had an Oline built for him specifically. Not once but twice. We still didn’t win. Now all you clowns are butt hurt because Dak came in and shattered many rookie records while helping us to a franchise best record of 13-3. You guys are straight up haters and I’d really expose your true feelings if it weren’t against forum rules. But I see the ignorance in guys like you. Instead of wishing all the players on the team the best, you’d rather bash players you have personal agendas with in hopes theyll be replaced by someone you personally like better. This **** is sad.

At this point, can we just agree that Dak is who he is and just drop it?

Alex Smith and Blake Bortles struggled for a long time before putting it all together. 2018 is eight quarters old. The national media needs to give it a rest with this Prescott stuff.

As I said, he is who he is. He's Dak, not Patrick Mahomes. Who, I might add, still has plenty of time left to fall on his face, too.
