That could be argued given both possible outcomes....That’s quite a risk the Cowboys are making financially.

I tend to lean more with what I’ve read here locally that it will cost the Cowboys more next year. That could be argued given both possible outcomes....
I’m confused by your response . I’m only interested in what your opinion is of what the Cowboys are doing. Meaning do you think they are convinced , not whether you are.Yes..as in not convinced.
This whole thing is like planning a marriage.
Remember when they had to admit they made a mistake to play WR by Committee?
That to evaluate Dak he needed a clear #1 guy and Amari luckily appeared?
That helped Dak temporarily. Then 2019 came and we were a frontrunner for reaching a SB?
Dak had a good stat season but his W-L faded.
Now we have added Lamb to again address DAK's inability to raise his game enough.
So yes, this is clearly saying so far not good enough to get married but the engagement is still on.
Total compatibility and children are still hanging in the balance.
Dak needs to get it done..then we get the off spring.
Championships.
Then you get big Daddy money and a share of Daddy's business.
Daddy being Jerrah of course.
It’s not as frightening as 2015 after Romo went down.Im frightened at the possibility of Dalton being our quarterback. I am.
Could be but the bigger point is he won’t be cheaper after today."Dak will never be cheaper to sign than today" has been true every single day since they traded for Amari.
Apparently it’s a risk some are willing to take regardless if it cost us tens of millions.Maybe. Or, maybe not.
If there is a season...I tend to lean more with what I’ve read here locally that it will cost the Cowboys more next year.
“Indeed, if Dak goes after 2020, who would they replace him with? They got lucky with Dak in the fourth round of the 2016 draft. How lucky will any team get in 2021 if there’s no college football season and a draft pick who hasn’t played college football in 20 months suddenly is expected to perform at the NFL level?
Barring a catastrophic injury or a dramatic dip in performace, Dak is looking at $69.08 million over the next two years, followed by either a gigantic payday from the Cowboys or a chance to see what the open market will bear.
Considering how that worked for Kirk Cousins in 2018, Prescott should be exited by the possibility of becoming the first quarterback in league history who received the exclusive version of the franchise tag, didn’t sign a long-term deal, and then became a free agent. If the Cowboys want to keep that from happening, it’s time to do what they should have done the moment his third regular season ended:
Make him an offer he can’t refuse”.
That’s a risk the Cowboys apparently are willing to take.If there is a season...
If no season, cap goes down and so does the offer...
The bigger issue is do the Cowboys think he’s hot stuff. And do they think he won’t be as hot next year?I'm not sure if that's possible, an offer Dak CAN'T refuse? Dak thinks he's hot stuff.
We missed our opportunity to sign him last year choosing to wait and see how he performed in 2019. Now if we wait until 2021 he’s going to be much more expensive .
At least about 7 million more just on the Franchise Tag but an extended contract next year will surpass anything we could arrive at today.
Assuming we still want Dak for years to come if we don’t sign him today it’s going to be a poor financial decision compared to next year or years ahead.
The only conclusion we can arrive at today if we don’t extend him is we aren’t sold on Dak and that message will be loud and clear.
Or want to pay him more next year.if they dont sign him today the cowboys have decided to move on
I can't wait until y'all get to see happy feet Dalton. Y'all gonna love it lol.
We don’t know what they are gonna get. They signed mahomes but he isn’t getting the 45 a year. It just looks that way. We could have dressed up a contract to look good if Dak wanted a long deal.Or want to pay him more next year.
Maybe Jerry is waiting for other QB’s to resign next year like Jackson or Watson for more so he won’t look as bad over paying Dak.
He has the ability look worse than that. But unlike Garrett, I don't think McCarthy will sit there and allow for Dalton to get sacked 6 times. Will he look as bad as Dak did against Atlanta?
Maybe our Oline and Zeke will help in that department.
He don’t want Dak going anywhere. I am telling you, something happened. I think his agent ticked the FO off..He isnt a do whatever it takes to sign him type player.
Problem is, his agent is treating this like he is.
For that same reason, I cannot figure out why the team didnt use the non exclusive tag on him.
Oh wait....yeah I can. It's the learn as we go (at best) Jones idiots running things.
Mahommes contract already hurt his negotiating power - current economic reality could hurt it even more next year - Dak loses from here into next year if he does not take the deal - then, heaven forbid for him he decides to force his ouster from Dallas - then he really loses on endorsements when he goes to some team nobody cares about or in addition he has to pay 6-10% state income tax on half his salary. Time value of money, endorsements, loss of salary cap possible, injury - all bad news for DakThese are facts @Diehardblues. This team would be foolish to not sign him today. Then next year they will be trying to sign him for the same deal they want to sign him for this year except he will want even more.
