I'm sorry but I don't converse with people who speak in cliches or crowd speak. Up your content to something other than 28years drivel, just more of the same Blah Blah Bligedy Blah Blah

It's like talking to to a Deaf Dumb mental growth stunted Dog. I can't
But yet you replied :)

Dak's value was going down then he won Man of the Year catapulting his worth in his eyes. His 49 million cap figure is now a bargain.

It's pretty inevitable that Jerry is going to extend Dak. Between his 2023 cap hit being untenable and being able to cite two playoff births and one win (I know it's not good enough for us but it is for Jerry) since signing the deal, it's going to happen. I don't know much about the contract process but I'm curious if they can nix that no trade clause when they do an extension/restructure, or does it stay in automatically?

I guess it's pretty counterintuitive to think that Jerry would trade Dak when he will almost certainly extend him, but it would be nice if the FO at least had the option, especially if they can somehow luck into a good QB in the draft since it sounds like QB will finally become a priority in the draft again. I do think that the second Jerry has any sort of a health scare that we may see the urgency to win ramp up considerably and he may actually consider trying to upgrade at the QB position, especially if we have another one and done playoff year. Or maybe just wishful thinking on my part.
Nice post.
Was curious why you think Jerry may be drafting a QB?
Why would QB now be a priority?
Thanks, John

Dak needs to be extended and his no trade clause needs to be taken out, I agree with that.

If your going to spend some 40m-50m on a player, it needs to be YOUR asset that you can trade if you choose.

But again, we all know this will never happen.

And yes, upgrading to an ELITE level QB like mahomes or Burrows is wishful thinking. Despite what some of you may think "upgrading" isnt something you just go and do. Its almost near impossible to do.
They elite QBs at Walmart on asle 5.

If Dak was really serious about his own football career and pursuing a Super Bowl, he would want a trade. It's beneficial for both sides that they separate if the goal for both is a Super Bowl. There is a 5-year window for starting QBs with a team. Going back to 1991, every SB-winning QB has done it within his first 5 years as a starter for that team except for two: Elway and Peyton Manning. Dak is definitely not a Top-10 QB all time like those guys so that ain't happening!

But if Dak were to be traded elsewhere, that 5-year countdown resets and starts over for him with his new team and judging by history, he would have a better chance to win a Super Bowl than now. And the same goes for the Cowboys with a new QB.

You think they're rueing consecutive 12-win seasons and being among the top 8 teams this year?

What world do you people live in?

We're a pretty good team and the QB is a huge part of it. Downgrading at QB to save money is easily the dumbest option possible.

This team can win without Dak. He's not the reason they are winning

What a weird comment.

You say "this team" as if we're loaded with talent outside the QB position on offense. Um, we aren't. Lamb and Pollard are studs... yeah, that's about it.

Who should be the starter if not Dak? I don't think KC is trading us Mahomes.

Jerry and Stephen are fully invested in Dak. He’s marketable as heck and just won man of the year. He’s gonna be here for another 6 years or so barring a massive nosedive or career threatening injury.
Jerry and his son are marketing an empire. All the pieces are in place to do that.
Nothing else really matters.
Talk is cheap, and Jerry is a Master of it.
Things couldn't be better for the empire.

FWIW, he's our QB unless he is injured and our next number 2 comes in and plays lights out ball. Hopefully we surround our QB with some good talent. Brock the rookie QB for San Fran played well because he had superior talent around him. Great Running back, good Wide Outs, Good O line and excellent defense. Talent wise Dak is better then Brock right now. Brock was just in a better situation with a better team overall. PS. Dak could be out of the league with a big injury. Happens from time to time. Remember the QB for the Commanders (at the time) who leg break was so bad he almost lost his leg. **** happens out there.

Dak won't agree to remove the no trade clause because that's his assurance that he will remain a Cowboy and not get traded away to a basement dwelling team that is willing to give the Cowboys high draft picks.
LOL, he doesn't have to worry about a team giving the Cowboys high draft picks for him.

Dak is as marketable as the next guy who would take his place on the Cowboys. Dez Bryant had a huge mouth, but even his jersey sales were top 5 in the whole league. Zeke was accused of being a woman beater and when his jersey was top 4 or 5. Romo and Witten the same.

Dak is expendable. Dallas sells even when they are losing, just like the Lakers. The game is about winning and winning brings in even more money.

i was thinking about this today. What iF Dak took a pay cut ALA brady and others to field a better team around him say 4 years 25 mil per season at 100m GUARANTEED at 25m a season fully guaranteed he's set for next 4 years IF he wins superbowl in 4 years with good team around him he can negotiate again at 34 years old break the bank and if he does not he's made 200m+ over course of this Career Not to mention the other millions he's made off endorsements. put in a Trade Clause where Dak can Opt out if team does not spend the cap to fill a team around him.
Never going to happen.

While I agree that part of the negotiations with Dak to lower his 2023 cap hit (and yes, Dak will be restructured) should have a mandatory removal of the previous no-trade clause Jerry & Co. will cave as there is no way Dak allows that to happen and there is no way Jerry & Co. have the stones to let Dak play the 2023 season under his current cap number.

This^^^^

Most Cowboy fans would love to have an Elite QB. Unfortunately there simply isn’t enough to go around 32 teams.

All we can do is make the best of a situation our ownership and front office provide. And that’s where the criticism should ultimately rest.
