If they trade up for ANYONE it would be a mistake.

I don't think its good for a team to think like that though. If the value is good and you have a player ranked high enough sometimes its smart to trade up. Especially at the tail end of the 1st. This team is not so talent devoid it has to stay put. They could always drop down out of the 2nd to recoup a pick. I think going into the draft being inflexible is a mistake.

No way in hell are we starting the season with McFadden, Randle, Williams, and Dunbar as our RB core..............an Oakland castoff, an underwear thief, a practice squad guy, and a change of pace back.

That has disaster written all over it.......................its either going to be AP through trade or draft a RB with either the 1st or 2nd round pick. They have used 17% of their pre-draft visits on RBs and if anybody has been paying attention, Dallas drafts who they bring in. Over the last couple of drafts, they have had over 8 guys drafted that came in for a visit. In other words, they are not just bringing these guy in for the hell of it, this is their draft pool.

And even trading for AP does not mean we don't draft a RB as well. Maybe they want to give AP some rest during the season knowing that 400 carries would be way too much for AP, so he and a rookie RB could basically tag team and both would stay fresher longer.

They say we're crazy but Gurley is a stud if he's healthy, anyone that has seen his highlights should be impressed.

Amazing see replay at 2:45 min....his vision his style translate to production on the Pro level.

Plus Dynamic Kick Returner = Check

MURRAY ranked very low in pass protection. So mcfadden should be an upgrade immediately. I do think we go w BPA at 27. Either RB cb lb even safety. I know they've been looking at safeties early which shocks me considering how good church has played and how high they are on wilcox

I think it's because Church and Wilcox are both SS.. If they can get a ball hawk at Free Safety watch out..

to me Gurley is the best prospect since AD but he has a big injury history culminating with the ACL tear,i would be still be thrilled if we get him though because we are not going to run him into the ground like we did for Murray.

I think we draft best player available in the 1st round. That is what they have been doing, and its working.

If Gurley is on the board, he very well may be the best player available. Teams have been shying away from RB in the 1st round, but Gurley was looking like a top 10 pick before his injury.

The RB I want is Jay Ajayi. Would love to grab a Cornerback in the 1st round and Ajayi in the 2nd.

The Last Sentence is what I agree with. I would trade down, pick up and extra pick and try to get Peters and AJayi.

My point being that they feel RB is plug and play with our OL so any RB drafted should be viewed with a 4-5 year horizon and not likely to see a second contract with the team.

Most RB's can be seen as plugs but some backs are "special" and Gurley is seen like that by most scouts.

Now Murray was a good back, if he didn't have his injury history, the team may have pursued him more.

Exactly. If Adrian Peterson was a Cowby at 27 and was set to be a Fa, do people really think the Cowboys would have just walked away?

I think we will draft a RB early,we are not bringing in all these RBs to interview as a smoke screen.

Maybe... But if they are all gone I don't see why we can't win it all by RBBC? It's the patriot way. It can work for us.

Romo probably has maybe 3 more years at top performance and of course just like any other player in the NFL is one hit from ending his career.

Since you can count on the fingers of one hand teams that have been able to go from one top QB to another in one year or so (SF Montana to Young; Indy Manning to Luck; Packers Favre to Rodgers) in the last 30 years, one has to accept that the reality will be that it will take several years to draft one and go through his growing pains (assuming we do not draft a bust).

We were INCREDIBLY lucky to go from Eddie Lebaron To Don Meredith to Roger to Danny with only a few hicups along the way. Almost 25 straight years of Pro Bowl Quality QBs. What happened after Danny lost his effectiveness and what happened after Troy retired is much more the norm then our early history.

So we must face the reality of us spending several years at best and maybe more at worst finding our next top QB.
Yes we can be competitive and have winning seasons if we have the O line and a decent D. But we would be no threat to win it all.

To that end of going all in before our closing window slams shut I would be open to a move to get a top RB in hope of making that last jump to win it all.

I would also be open to a similiar trade for another top pass rusher or top CB. Each of those moves might be just enough to hoist another Lombardi.

I hope they continue to focus heavily on the trenches. When Romo retires, they'll likely have to be a defense-oriented team and pass rushers take a few years to develop. If they keep a strong core of offensive linemen (wouldn't take a lot of picks at this point), then that can help a lot with ball control/field position. I agree they're unlikely to find another highly productive qb so they'll need to build a core that can win with a different style of play. I don't want them to go into next season with scraps at RB, but a 2nd-3rd round pick shouldn't be scraps in today's game.

I can see that. to me they would have three priorities:
1) If they can get a Top CB one way or another
2) another Pass rusher that they think can come right in and get sacks his first season
3) top RB which is the one position in the NFL that you can reasonably expect high production in a rookie year

I can't say I would be surprised about a pass rusher if one is available, but I'm thinking Lber is a close 3rd to RB and Corner.
