Jerry's words and the fact that this team finished the season with only 4 wins is enough for Jerry to do some things in the off season that will ultimately prevent another sub par season. Jerry and family are about to make some huge decisions that will put this team back at the top of the NFL. The CAP will be exhausted in an attempt to bring the best players to the 2016 roster. The question is... who will be the biggest impact in 2016? I personally like a playmaker on Defense like Bosa. I know most people don't like Manziel but I believe giving up a 7th round pick for a guy who has Romo tendencies would be great as well.

it seems every year there is a handful of people who say JERRY WILL MAKE A SPLASH!!!! IT ALL ADDS UP!!!!

but he never does, really. yet here we go again.

must be the offseason now. it already is sucking.

correct....foreskins will play Green Bay and I would say have a good shot at beating them. Cousins is on fire.

Green Bay is faultering for whatever reason and they are ripe for the picking for an early exit in the playoffs. Being solid at QB goes a long way in this league.

Just read Kellen threw for the 2nd most yards in NFL history for a guy making his first home start...Let that sink in. Not saying he didn't make a couple of mistakes....but for a guy that was making his 2nd start...I'm not sure what more you could expect from a guy that has a team going through the motions just trying to end a season.

He also threw multiple bad picks, can't throw the ball longer than 20 yards accurately, is consistently late with his release, and was playing against scrubs on a team with no reason to play. Anybody with eyes sees that Moore is nothing more than a 3rd stringer

How about Eric Berry if the team wants to make a splash in free agency?

The team has to get better at Safety. Whatever that it entails, it must get done.

The team must get better at DT. Again, whatever that entails, it must get done.

I don't think huge splashes are required at these spots. I see other teams starting late round draft picks or even undrafted rookies at S and playing well. And obviously the current Cowboys DT could arguably be the easiest position to upgrade in the entire league.

Fixing those 2 spots make a huge difference.

It amazes me how Dallas continues to run the "golden cock" out there at DT and then cry we don't have enough pass rush? Most other teams get at least some pass rush from all their DL positions. But not us! He never even comes close to the QB ever. This insane stubbornness is only a glimpse of why this team was so putrid this season. It is time to move on from unproductive players no matter their draft position, and bring in some better talent to work with. The safety, J.J. Wilcox #27 is another example of a wasted roster spot. Move on please! Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity!:-(

I think the safety they go after is Eric Weddle.

Given his age, I think his market and asking price will be significantly lower and there's zero chance the Chargers keep him.

I recall the Cowboys having interest in him before he signed his last deal to stay in San Diego.

Johnny can make all the throws. Just have to keep him out of the club.

Im ok with Moore coming back for camp competition. but he is far from being a legit backup.

KC has to let him go first, which I strongly doubt.

maybe Dallas could work a straight-up trade with KC: berry for his old backfield mate carr. Carr makes $10 million a year - so he must be really good... right?

Possibly. Not against it. Hes obviously proven to be a good player in the league. I would prefer a younger player and cheaper. But given how this staff horribly evaluates the S position, it may be better to take the surer thing in Weddle or Berry.

:hammer:

Ramsey and Reed. See the Sig. Golden Cock, Church and Wilcox never impress. Need immediate improvements here.

Romo has a tendency to drink, to disobey his coaches, to read only part of the field, to run out of the pocket instead of stepping up in the pocket?

I must admit I was infatuated over Johnny Football when he was in college and when he was in the process of being drafted. But that infatuation is over.

He is too small. Too frail. Too slow. Too "dumb" (in terms of reading defenses). Too stubborn (he won't listen to his coaches) and too much of a risk.

He is NOT Romo-like. He can be easily defensed. Just get edge rushers on him and get your hands up when he throws the ball.

Berry scares me for several reasons, price and health first and foremost.

if Dallas can acquire manziel for a seventh - take him and never look back. the guy is still just a kid. yeah, some kids go a little overboard on the party thing - but any assessment of manziel as 'washed up' at this early stage of his career is difficult to take seriously. The kid still has lots of athletic potential and Romo (among others) could be a solid influence and possibly offer some needed mentorship.

I really believe he'd be worth a shot if the cost in minimal.

It will be interesting.

I'm inclined to think we won't make that big splash given the contracts he's given to FA's and new deals to players on the roster. We've been pretty shrewd the past 2 offseasons. Even for all of the hoopla over Dez's contract, it's actually a good deal for the team when you look at similar WR's...we just need Dez to be healthy.

Hardy and McFadden were basically on pay-for-play deals. Free was a pretty tight contract. McClain was only given a 1-year deal after a very good 2014 season. We were pretty tough on Hatcher's deal and almost re-signed him until the Skins came in and paid 3 times what he was going for. And we kept our offer to DeMarco pretty tight as well.

We didn't have to do all of these contracts that way, but they did. And I think Jerry still has a sour taste in his mouth after the Ratliff deal, so anybody approaching 30 years old isn't going to get much, IMO.

What I would like to see is the Cowboys going after Eric Weddle, assuming he gets cut. That would solve one major issue with this team, provided he's healthy enough to play at a high level.

I don't think we have a choice but to go after some FA cornerbacks. I think we want to look after a MIKE backer, but those are hard to come by in FA. The good thing is that it's still a 3-4 league and we have a better chance of finding a smaller MLB in FA than a bigger, 3-4 oriented MLB.

The splash in free agency I believe is more likely to be RGIII than Manziel. Betting both are released before the NFL 2016 year begins March 1st.

What makes you think Johnny Manziel will even take to mentoring from Romo?
Johnny has some serious issues that keep repeatedly playing themselves out. If he comes to Dallas, he will be a sideshow. And that's not going to help him. In fact, it will feed his celebrity.
No, I don't believe it's worth the risk. But Jerry loves publicity so he likely won't listen. We'll still be 4-12 next year, but we'll have the lights, cameras and actions that Manziel will undoubtedly provide. :(
