How many years does Zorn get to collect a check?

i think it is whatever his deal was minus what he earns in a new position. He'll be working for Holmgren again is my bet as an QB coach or OC.

Zorn really played this right. Danny did everything possible to make him quit and he wouldn't. Had he quit, he'd be owed nothing so this was the right move financially.

HE'll probably have to pay him that much to come and coach up those losers. Speaking of which: why are you on our board? Get a life Bro.....

Easy now. It's got to be so sad waking up every day in Skin Nation. Poor guy.

I have never understood the whole being escorted out by secuirity thing.

What is Jim Zorn going to do?

That piece seems a bit of spin ... sounds like the team wanted to keep reporters away from him and let him get away without being bothered.

Now the countdown is on till he fires Mike Shanahan.

I would say 3 years?

2. He'll get angry when they don't immediately contend for the Superbowl and he'll blame it all on Shanahan being washed up.

Hey lets cut this guy some slack. He's been a real good poster here as a fan of an enemy team and I see no reason to be rude to him.

Except that didn't happen :)

And seeing that there is no "cap for coaches" Snyder could pay Shanahan 100 million a year for all I care

So you're saying that they didn't tell him at 4 this morning, prior to his leaving, that he was fired?

Come on. You know they did. They told him he was fired, he was asked to get stuff and leave.

At least they didn't escort him out with security but it's a classless move by Snyder to not wait until a decent time on Monday morning to call the guy in and do it the right way.

Of course Snyder and classless go hand in hand like Al Davis and crazy.

He deserved to be fired, but not to be humiliated like that. Shanny, don't be surprised when it happens to you.

I am saying the timing is off. I know enough people at the Park now that can confirm the Washington Post version

Zorn came in after the team landed at 2:30, spoke with Bruce Allen, packed up and left at 4:30 am.

Why even make the guy wait until 12:30 today when there is a lot of work to be done for both Zorn and the org?

Security didn't escort the guy out like a criminal, it was more so, as the WaPo article states, so he wouldn't get bugged like the media

Remember how stupid Barry Switzer looked after not quite being fired following the 1997 season and his pass code to enter the Cowboys complex didn't work and he had to buzz in saying "I am the head coach"

Yea, that situation was avoided last night

How is that humiliating? It would be more humiliating for him to have spent a few more days twisting in the wind.

And the awkward parking lot interviews. Those are always tough

I remember when Norv got fired in 2000, along with LeCharles Daniel (or whatever his name was, the special teams coach)

Norv had an awkward press conference, and the media caught poor LeCharles in the parking lot with a box of his stuff packing his car :lmao:

I felt bad for the guy at that moment

as I noted earlier -- that is likely why he was "escorted by security"

Who said anything about days? How 'bout letting the guy get a good night's sleep after a long, cross-country flight? That's asking too much? His firing was inevitable, but throwing him off the property like a trespasser was not.

For the record, they did have security escort him from the facility.

Yes, you get a real good night's sleep knowing that you might get fired in the morning.

And again, "throwing him off the property" as you say was much more likely "let's keep the press away from him so he can get out of here without being hassled"

was fired when he got off the plane at 4am. He was escorted to his office by security, cleaned his stuff out and left. I'm glad he got his money and didn't let lil' Dan cow him into quitting and not getting paid. He deserves every cent for putting up with that scumbag. Stay classy Lil' Dan!!!!!!:lmao2:

Link?

Because that was refuted well before you posted this...

How is it classless?

Would it be classier to make him wait a day when you have your mind made up?

No.

Me, I'd prefer to get the news ASAP and get on with my life. But, hey, I'm a grownup.

He's known his fate for a month or longer, so getting some solid shuteye shouldn't have been a problem. There was absolutely no good reason to rush this firing or treat him like he was caught embezzling or something. A number of coaches will be fired this week or next, but none will receive the Zorn treatment.

And again, "throwing him off the property" as you say was much more likely "let's keep the press away from him so he can get out of here without being hassled"

Um, that's what farewell press conferences are for. If the Skins worried about him being "hassled," then they shouldn't have fired him in the dead of night. Jerry has his flaws, but he'd never humiliate a coach like this.

Jim Zorn new qb coach? Hmm...

he'll be working for Holmgren. Keep in mind the Walrus is his mentor and would not discuss the 'skins job b/c of how Zorn was treated.
