:laugh2: I didn't know that but that's typical tyrannical snyder for you.

Who was the guy that found out he was fired when danny boy put frozen ice cream on their desk, letting it melt all over everything?

Former Skins and current Saints DC Gregg Williams.

He left a tub of Ice cream the first time saying he did not like Vanilla and Gregg took it as a joke.

Did it again and left a note something along the lines of he was not joking.

Ah! Thank you for elaborating.

I didn't quite have the story right. Though, he looks like a bigger j/o in your version.... which lends more credence to your's :D

4am? Good grief. Can't even let the man sleep until a decent hour before you can him. Or they could have told him last night.

Zorn knew this was coming long ago now it's official.

I thought it was Mike Nolan?

It was Mike Nolan.

Yes, here's the story:

Early that season, after a Commanders loss, Snyder told Nolan that his defensive calls were “too vanilla.” Like the other coaches, Nolan had figured out by then that trying to explain football to Snyder was pointless, since he already had the game figured out. A few days later a gallon of 31 Flavors ice cream showed up on Nolan’s desk with a note that said, “This is what I like. Not vanilla.”

Nolan laughed and sent Snyder a note: “Thanks for the ice cream. My kids enjoyed it.”

“The first time it was actually kind of funny,” Nolan said. “I didn’t mind it at all.”

The next time wasn’t as funny.

The Commanders lost on the road to Dallas, and Nolan went into his office late Sunday night to start looking at game tape. When he arrived, there were three giant canisters of melting 31 Flavors ice cream on his desk with another note: “I wasn’t joking. I do not like vanilla.”

Damn Snyder is a ruthleses *******! Don't get me wrong. Jim Zorn was a terrible coach, but he didn't have to be tossed out like that! That is just flat out cruel!

How long could it have took Zorn to clear his desk? He was semi fired weeks ago.

They were pimping this site on tonight's local news. The main nerd who runs it has lifted his "boycott" due to Zorn's firing and Allen's hiring.

It would have been a better story if they went on a hunger strike.

How is it classless?

Would it be classier to make him wait a day when you have your mind made up?

No.

Me, I'd prefer to get the news ASAP and get on with my life. But, hey, I'm a grownup.

he knew he was getting fired. Do it during normal hours. Doing it at 4am shows no class.

No kidding. Shanny could get a job elsewhere and if he takes this one? Wow. I man, Shanny is supposed to be an extremely classy guy. Why would he take a job from a classless jerk?

I would feel pretty sorry for Shanny if the same thing happens to him that's happened with Zorn. That's not to say I don't feel sorry for Zorn either.

Why? He got a ton of money, plus assaulting an owner would severely limit his future employment opportunities.

I dunno, maybe the public castration would have something to do with it.

I don't think Zorn would hit him but any person with dignity would have a few choice words.

Accoring to Bruce Allen, Zorn asked to be let known as soon as they'd made a decision...

If i was Zorn i would have stood him up,oh
i would have told him sure i'll be there. If Shannahan
has any integrity he should pass.

more importantly, if Shanahan takes the GM/Team President/Head Coach thing, how successful will he actually be? When he started his power grab in Denver it can be argued that it took some of his focus from coaching...and the Broncos suffered.

Another question is how long will Snyder give Shanahan before he "Zorns" him in a similar fashion if the Commanders don't win RIGHT AWAY?

Snyder has hired some good coaches in the past but none of them seem to win once they are in Washington. The common denominator? Do I even have to type it out? LOL

Well he won't be GM...I like the idea of Allen and Shannahan working together though. I agree though -- if he does the player personnel AND the coaching? That never goes well...

Zorn was Cerrato's doing. By all accounts I have read, Cerrato was the one who kept pushing for Zorn. And Snyder did give Gibbs as long as he wanted. Gibbs wasn't fired, he retired again...So Shanny might be here as long as Shanny wants.

dont think they decided at 4am.
Then they should have let him know when they did make the decision (4 weeks ago) or did it at a respectable time.

next time u have to fire someone try doing it a 4am and see if HR isnt marching you to the door as well.

They did it as soon as the plane landed. Really -- is this THAT big of a deal?
