Good for him. He has as much leverage now as he may ever have in his career. He'll probably get the contract he's looking for.
It’s amazing how fans expect players to take friendly deals rather than maximizing on their generational wealth. Only reason dudes like Mahomes have incentive otherwise is because they know they have a potential legacy to build so it makes sense to shave off a little bit of money in exchange for that

Jones was in a make or break season and had the best season of his career. He had career highs in yards and passer rating and he only threw five INT’s. Plus, he led the Giants to the playoffs and won a playoff game. He may have only had 15 TD passes, but he rushed over 700 yards with seven rushing TDs. Some of his lack of TD throws was due to Saquon Barkley having a career year with over 1300 yards and 10 rushing TDs and the Giants were trying to limit his mistakes this season. Don’t know why the Giants would want to move on from Jones and go with Derek Carr who’s been inconsistent his entire career and is clearly on the downswing. Carr has a losing QB record and has never won a playoff game. He’s only led the Raiders to the playoffs twice. He got cut for crying out loud. Lol
I'm not even a big Carr fan, but he's better than Jones. Go ahead and add Jones rushing tds, he had 22 total tds, he went from the 70s to the 80s era lol

You’re basing it on yards and TDs. Carr has been mistake prone his entire career. He barely completed 60% of his passes this season and had 14 INT’s some coming in critical situations. There’s a reason the Raiders cut him. Jones clearly had a better year and has improved. Carr isn’t a winner.

Name all the QBs in the 80s era that put up 700 rushing yards with seven TDs to go along with the 3200 yards passing. Lol Jones has nothing at receiver. Give him a Davante Adams and I bet he would have more than 3200 yards passing and 15 TDs. By the way, Jones had over 300 yards and 2 TDs in the playoffs against Minnesota with a 114.1 passer rating. He’s already accomplished more than Derek Carr.

Now Philly gets to pay 50 million per year for their qb. Now we get to see their gm in action.
Likely, yes. But given their draft picks, they could also just draft another one if they wanted.

But Stash.........Seahawks now have to Geno $40-45M and the Eagles are looking at $45-50M for Hurts. Point is, if you win, you either pay the piper or recycle/reset the position with a cheaper guy.
I don’t think there’s any chance Geno Smith gets anywhere NEAR $40 million a year.

As a cowboys fan I hope they give him $200m per year, fully guaranteed for 10 years.

If I was the Giants GM, I would look to trade him and if there were no takers, I would feel comfortable giving him one of the lesser tags. Its really hard to beat Patrick Mahomes if you are paying Daniel Jones Patrick Mahomes type money.

People on here love to talk how Dak has no weapons, but Jones sucks? lol A QB on his 3rd HC and really no weapons or Oline on top of it.
True he’s had nothing most of his career.

Pointing up? He threw 15 TD passes this season, is this the 70s or what?
Ok, but who did he have to throw to? I mean seriously, was there a worse receiving corp in the league? I can't think of one. Especially when you consider the injuries.

Jones is a decent QB. Not elite, but better than many here are giving him credit for. He struggled early in his career after being drafted high by a mediocre team. I blame the team and coaching more than the player, but it does take some players longer than others to develop. He is playing well now.

He will get paid. The Giants are not going backwards.

And that’s exactly how we got to this same spot with Prescott,

What are they supposed to do? It’s either pay him well beyond what he is worth or start over.
That’s the issue every team faces. Only a few guys are gonna be elite. But if a guy is top 15 or so he’s gonna cost close to the elite guys
You have no choice but pay or start over
And getting a elite QB is really hard
