You did see Ward rush for 200+ yards right? Manning threw for only 180 yds. I'm sure if MB3 runs for 200+ in a game, Wade Philips could put up 180 yds.

I'll give you a pass on Manning's desperation heaves in the Superbowl, two of which, hit defenders in the hands and should have been picked on that final drive. That was destiny.

Manning has one 300 yd game this year. One.

In fact, their running game has been so good, Eli went almost the entire month of Oct and Nov without throwing over 200 yds.

Jacobs goes down for two games and they lost both. But I'm sure that's just coincidence.

Now excuse me while I go throw up after reading that post.
Finally someone with some common sense!!!

Nope. Its not Eli.

He is lucky for "Earth, Wind & Fire" = THEY won the game.

^^^ HOMER ALERT ^^^

Look- for years in the 90's, I had to defend
Troy against people who were saying the EXACT SAME things
about Emmitt & the running game!

Do you guys go back that far? Do you remember those days?
According to some, Troy Aikman was an "adequate" QB, who
simply handed the ball to Emmitt & got outta the way!
Remember that?
Why is that invalid when it's used against us, yet we have
our fans bending over backward to say the same CRAP?

To say that Eli benefits from Earth, Wind, & Fire is like
being a member of the Captain Obvious School of Fandom!!
Well, DUH!??!

I'm not suggesting that Eli is anywhere close to Troy right now. But,
until Troy proved himself, the doubters were saying the same
things about him, that they're saying about Eli!

Give it up, fellas!
It's UNBECOMING as serious Cowboy, NFL, indeed, Sports

It's consistency in the running game. We don't have it. Teams that do well this time of year need that. We haven't consistently run the ball since the mid to late 90s.

Hard do consistently run the ball when you don't run it, though, especially with a player like Tashard Choice.

You cannot throw all the time and win. Look at the Eagles.

Let me straighten you out my friend.... just for the simple reason that "YoMick" came before "CutMeMick".... on HERE and IN THE MOVIE!
:laugh1:

First of all I like Tony alot but I am not homer. Ask anyone on here. I call Romo on his "stuff"..... as I do with TO. I am pro both of those players but I will call it against them when I think its the case.

With that said. You cannot put Eli in the same boat as Aikman. Aikman was an ELITE QB.

AND... Aikman gets MORE credit for making "good/great QB decisions" THAT right there made him a better QB... more than his physical skills.

gotta laugh at people who say aikman didn't have great physical talent!
he had the most talent of any dallas qb ever, and i grew up with meredith, morton, and staubach. he couldn't scramble like roger the dodger, but his arm strength and accuracy? no comparison.

Fine- but will you concede that EARLY in his career,
Troy was considered shaky at best?
In fact, it wasn't till Emmitt got there, AND the run game developed,
that Aikman became a superior QB. He had the tools, but no support.
Cause & effect? Absolutely!
I sorta picture Romo like an Elway, early on in his career.
Until Davis came along, Elway won because of spectacular plays
& talent. Until Terrel Davis shored up that backfield,
then & only then, did Elway get his rings!
If MBIII, TChoice, & Felix can provide a consistently effective
run game, then there's no reason for Romo to fail.
So, the question remains, why the costly ints., fumbles, &
bad decisions?

BTW- I'll concede the "Yo Mick" vs "Cut Me Mick" debate.
Fact is I've even been accused of being you in a few
other threads!

Here's to the Rocky Balboa Posse!:fight:

If Ken Hamlin has some Lester Hayes stickum and can grab that fumble we win. Damn how close these games are one play makes the difference. I still can't believe he didn't recover that fumble. H U G E play in that game.

The sad fact about most NFL fans is that they don't know football. (I can feel this is going to get me into trouble even as I type it, but here goes anyway)

As a result they are much more impressed with style than substance. Give them someone who looks flamboyant, someone who laughs and winks and jumps around and seems like a fun loving guy, and "he is the best", ESPECIALLY when he has STATS. (All those who think that Favre is superior to Aikman) That is another thing about non-football knowing NFL fans.... they think it is baseball. "What are his stats?" What are his numbers?

*Did you look at the time of possession and yards gained in the Denver vs. Buffalo game yesterday? That will tell you the value of stats.

The bottom line in the NFL is WINNING. The best QB's are the QB's who do what is necessary to give their teams the best chance to win, game in and game out, YEAR AFTER YEAR AFTER YEAR.

Yea, you can get a dog QB that rides a great all around team for a 1 year wonder, but that doesn't happen season after season. And if they are really good, they will have good stats at the same time.

That was Aikman. Great in his own right. Would have been great on any team. Was willing to limit what HE COULD HAVE DONE INDIVIDUALLY in order to make the team great COLLECTIVELY.

Now Romo. What do we make of him? Great stats. I would say he has been a winner too. With Romo at the helm full time this team has won football games. We have a chance this Sunday to finish 10-6. Not bad at all in today's NFL. We have a chance to go to the playoffs for the 3rd consecutive time under his leadership. We are waiting for him to take the next step, to lead us to some playoff wins. I personally hope that this turns out to be the year. So far, he has struggled some in the biggest games. Lets hope that this year is different and we see HIS BEST PERFORMANCES IN THE BIGGEST MOMENTS.

I'll say again, that was Troy Aikman. His game got BETTER in the post season.

We sometimes want the answers before the test is over. There is no way to know what the answer is, until the test is over. Tony's test isn't over yet. This is only his 3rd year as our starter. Give the guy time. I think he has something special. We will find out soon enough.

In the beginning? for Aikman... of course, no one knew how he would turn out for sure... but there were glimpses of greatness. He just needed to see it through. Part of "seeing it through" was being smart enough to use HIS chess pieces correctly.

Be more sensible with your posting and maybe I will let you in "my posse" ;)

Eli is a bus driver. Romo is a play maker. Both types have their advantages and disadvantages.

give romo a running game that can net you 300 yards.

Tashard Choice has been playing very well and the Cowboys are not built that way.

This is no way the Cowboys would run for 300+ with the number of playmakers in the Receiving Core.

I know, it's blasphemous!! But think about it.
That DOOFUS can march his team downfield for the
tying TD, & 2 pt conversion.

He's done it in the Super Bowl for gosh sakes!

We have yet to see Romo pull one out when it really matters!

Right now, Eli's playmaking in the clutch is the difference
between him & Romo!

Now excuse me, while I go throw up!!!!!!!!
:puke:
I don't agree. True, Romo has yet to win a clutch game in the playoffs, or be consistent in December, however, I'll take Romo any day over Sheli. Our problem is with the Red-Haired idiot, who runs the most predictable offense in the NFL.

Here is where I think people make some mistakes.

If the defense is going to overload against the pass, it is to your advantage to run the ball if you can do so effectively. Until Choice emerged the last few games, we could not consistently run the ball with Barber even when defenses were selling out against the pass. The difference is Choice's vision and quickness to the hole. He takes advantage of situations that Barber couldn't/wouldn't. So in the past, Garrett still tried to force his vertical passing game even when the defense was keyed against it. The ace in his hole was the mobility of Romo to buy time and the ability of Witten to force the passing defense to stay somewhat honest over the middle/underneath.

The potential development of a consistent running game will over time bring the safeties closer to the line and slow the LBs drops into the passing lanes which should eventually re-open the passing game. The key is for Garrett to now trust he has a new weapon and to learn how to harness it.
