I'm not inclined to make predictions about Dak's level of succes beforehand but would be delighted if he proves himself gloriously. As always, good fortune plays a big role in the level of success a team and its QB achieves. The Cowboys are definitely due for their share of it, and then some.

There’s a lot of fans on this board that thought Jalen Hurts having an MVP year was far-fetched and he was second in the voting last season. Not even the Dak haters were ranking Hurts ahead of him heading into last season. According to the fans here Hurts sucks. Lol

I'm not a big Dak guy but some of you all refer to him like he's Mark Sanchez or something. Dude is seriously not that bad.
He's not that bad. He's top 10-15ish but him winning mvp ship has sailed. If dak wins mvp that means he's putting up decent numbers and Mazi is better than anyone thinks because mvp only comes with a great record

If anyone thinks Dak and Romo are on a comparable level, then no, it isn't far-fetched. Romo should have won it in 2014 and came close.
If he should have then he would have. Rodgers had the better year. The votes were Rodgers 31, J.J. Watt 13, and Romo and Murray both got 2 each. Not close when a guy on your own team is considered just as much and you have QB bias on your side. Brady only got 1 vote if that means anything.

Feel like you want to feel. I think Romo didn't get the votes because of Murray's year. Rodgers had the better year in some categories, not all.

Be nice ........LOL

Seriously, I can see him having a career year with fewer career stats and Jerry paying him top 3 $$$$$. In other words, ALL ducks are lined up for this to be a huge year for him.

Why Cowboys QB Dak Prescott winning league MVP isn’t so far-fetched

Published Jun. 22, 2023 1:43 p.m. ET
What exactly would a Dak Prescott candidacy for NFL MVP look like?

I can feel the question sparking a social media meltdown already, but I'll press on. After all, it's mid-June and this is the time for idle speculation. The topic is in the news cycle already, as NFL.com's Adam Schein listed Prescott as a top dark horse candidate to win this year's award.

Prescott has the benefit of being the starting quarterback for the one team that's guaranteed to be in the headlines regardless of its record. But, as evidenced by the past 30 years, that's not enough on its own. Emmitt Smith is the only Cowboy to win the AP's NFL MVP, all the way back in 1993 when the team's '90s dynasty was at its peak.

What would it take for Dak to buck that trend? Honestly, not all that much more than we've already seen from him.

Someone gets it.

I will do the same. If Dak Prescott wins league MVP then I will never post on here ever again.

Also Dave Helman should be called Dave Helmet. Far more fitting. Never known anyone in the media to be so obsessed with Dak Prescott. He must have a shrine of him in his room
Lies. Helmand been 50-50 on Dak most of the time.

In 2014 Demarco Murray set the new Cowboys single season rushing record.

Not unrelated, it was also the only season that Tony Romo was the #1 ranked QB in the league. It was the season in which Tony threw the fewest passes while playing a full season of 14 or more games.

Dak is 27-1 in games with 28 or less passing attempts for a 96.4% win rate. For all QB's in the past 10 years with 10 games of 28 or less passes, Dak is ranked #1 in winning percentage. McCarthy knows this which is why he stated that he wanted to run the ball more. It's pretty simple, the more the Cowboys run, the less Dak passes. The less Dak passes, the more they win.

This is not an indictment of Dak's abilities as a QB. The simple fact is that Dak has many great attributes as an NFL QB, enough to qualify him as one of the best. However, all QB's have differences in some respects and Dak is not one of those naturally gifted, strong armed blue chippers that get taken in the top of the 1st round.

Dak can be extremely successful when used the right way. If Garrett or Moore wanted a prolific Coryell type passing game then they chose the wrong quarterback, that just isn't Dak. However, if the Cowboys want a strong running game complemented by an opportunistic passing game with the leadership of a QB that protects the ball and keeps drives alive then Dak is their man.

Ironically, Dak could be the league MVP if the Cowboys are a balanced offense with a strong running attack.

Of course, that begs the question, why wouldn't Pollard be the MVP then? Well, when you look at the last 20 league MVP's, 18 of them have been QB's. It's a simple NFL reality that QB's get the love, especially in today's game.
Good post. The haters are just mentally incapable of being objective. It’s all hate from them. They don’t care if the Cowboys win or lose as long as Dak sucks.
