David Moore Lowdown on Dez

That is a terrible plan.......you pay top dollar and carry the full load on the cap for 2 years and then lose him for nothing......this way DAL minimized the cap hit and after next year owe him $0 guaranteed money....the have basically team options for 2018 and 2019 for 12m each, no guarantees

I like the idea of burning off the hit on big contracts in the first two years so they have leverage and flexibility after those two years and no dead money.

I wish they could get ahead of the cap by a big chunk where they could come into each season needing to spend 40-50 million where they could do this on a consistent basis going forward. I get the impression Denver is doing this with some of their contracts but I haven't done the research to confirm and could be talking out of my ***

Not that I agree, but how would you suggest going about this?

Well I wouldn't have given him the new contract so I wouldn't be in this position. I'm not a cap man. What I'm saying is as soon as it's possible to do they should get rid of him. He'd be the #1 player I'd want out of there.

DAL only has 12m in dead money for Dez after this year........he is very trade-able with a 13m guaranteed salary for 2017 and 12.5m each for 2018-19

I find the following a bit difficult to understand, so I may be wrong but isn't the dead money $25 million after this season?

I sure hope you're right because your scenario is much better

At least he didn't hit his mother again.

Or buy a monkey.

Guy is a joke, he's another one I'll be fine replacing. Great players can act like this, average WR's who disappear for entire games can't.

I'm a Dez fan. He's a great player, and probably my 2nd favorite on the team (under Witten). But let's not act like the dude is NOT a whiny little kid. He is a diva. I talked to David Wells a good hour in St. Louis in 2014, and he told me a lot of stories. Also, Dez will be broke qithin 5 years of retirement.

I agree he isn't Michael Irvin. Irvin had better coaches that knew what he was good at and used him this way. I'm glad he isn't Irvin and won't stab another player on the team, won't spend his career on drugs, won't get caught with prostitutes, won't throw trash cans across the locker room.

These threads today show how simplistic some fans really are. The guy plays with a broken bone a few days ago and now you have a bunch of people tearing into him. I've read today how Dez can't catch, is Classless, Stupid, immature, unreliable, overrated, can't learn the offense, a distraction, not worth the headache, selfish, lazy, (and more).

And this is coming from "fans" because he didn't feel he was injured and waited a day to have an MRI...

It's not my views that are simplistic.
Spent career on drugs? Never failed a drug test.

Why would you want to be 40m under the cap......that is a tremendous waste of resources for a team trying to contend.......we are roughly 8m under the cap this year and that is too much......next year with with 5 pen strokes we will be 40m under the cap with about 20 positions to fill

The 25m number includes his 13m salary......if someone trades for him they are liable, like DMurray and Browner with PHI.......DAL would owe 12m in dead money but could spread it over 2 years.....they would save 13m in 2017 and 8m in 2018

I agree.

We are seeing the team smokescreen this whole deal with Dez.

Garrett talks out of both sides of his mouth and is using smoke and mirrors to deflect his responsibility as HC.

This comes direct from Jerrah.

Don't tell the truth and cover things up until we know what we want to say.

This is not **** Germany, but you would never know that.

As far as the team is concerned..

we fans can't handle the truth.

Mind sharing a few stories?

*Takes a knee.*

I wonder if he's mad because he wasn't a factor in the game?

Zoner : But he scored a Touchdown?

He wasn't a factor in the game. Trust me, he knows it.

What did you guys talk about? Or did you have to sign a nondisclosure? Was this conversation that led you to believe Dez "will be broke within 5 years"? Or is that pure speculation? Lots of questions, take your time. Fascinating stuff :)
