Davon Coleman waived for Pellerin

What I find funny in that is that you felt that ham and egger was potentially a future starter.
You mean like many others we have had in the history of our team that we gave a chance too that went on to have productive careers as a starter?

Here's hoping Davon Coleman clears waivers and is available next year for a return to TC. I believe the kid has real possibilities to develop into a valuable contributor as a pass rusher at DT. Wish we'd waived someone else.

The day will come when everyone on defense is a Lawrence, Crawford or a McClain. I think thats why they cut Coleman because he didn't fit the criteria (sarcasm alert).

We probably had similar discussions about Ron Leary back when you wanted to spend $60M for a FA OG. I don't really remember. Or about Tryone Crawford at one point where you thought he was a JAG and I thought he had a lot of potential. I'd look it up if I were more interested in your previous takes.

Either way, there's absolutely nothing sad about fans hoping for the best from young players. Or about the team liking one player more than another when they make a personnel decision.

I can't say the same thing about your desperate reaction to the discussion about it on a team message board, though. What are you trying to spin? I liked a rookie DL prospect. Better than I liked a couple young OTs we kept on the roster over him. You apparently don't. Ok. I can live with that just fine.

It's amazing how RS has been wrong about players over and over, yet keeps on posting as if it never happened. He's still trying to claim that T. Crawford is not a good player. It's comical.

Crawford is good, but he isnt a 3tech. He just doesnt have that burst that Melton has. He can penetrate but he just doesnt have the extra gear to chase a QB down that Melton brings. Id love to see Crawford add some weight and start next to Melton next yr. That is one helluva middle if you ask me.

That's a valid criticism.

I wouldn't change anything about his weight or position. He has been terrific. Bob Sturm chronicled just how good he's been here:

They do play him and Melton side by side in some passing situations. The last Gif in Strum's article shows them together. IIRC, a couple of Melton's sacks came when the OL over-focused on stopping Crawford.

We're all in awe of your ability to be absolutely certain about a player before ever seeing him play a snap of NFL football. Less in awe of your ability to actually be right about the players you're certain about, but, hey, at least you're certain. That's gotta count for something, right?

It counts for me not looking like a complete tool in an effort to look all fair and balanced.

I had this same discussion about the slop along the OL a few years ago. Nobody could admit it then. They all can admit it now.

It'll be the same with the DL. The roster as it stands today is filled with JAGs that nobody should care about.

Yes. We remember your position that players like Free and Leary and Hatcher and Crawford were 'slop' as you like to say. Prophetic.

You act like every single one of us doesn't recognize that high first round picks are better than developing players or stopgaps. This is not news to any of us.

Your MO is to complain wherever there's not a top flight talent at a position on the roster, and then to pretend everybody else is a homer for not expecting the same. Only the rest of us know you only get one first round pick per year.

Your transparent grandstanding and desperate attempts to ignore every case where you're dead wrong wears really thin when the team wins. You're in the unfortunate place where you need us to lose more for your arguments to carry emotional weight. And that's just sorta sad.

So its all crawford and melton is just avg? Is what ur trying to say? Id take Melton over Crawford anyday and always on sunday. Crawford just cant get sacks. period.

That's Mike's stance.

If you don't take the time to do your own rankings, you must rely on PFF. Since, ya know, we don't have the slightest clue what we're watching on Sundays.

I'll take that as a confession.

Potential future starter.

This stings.

On the bright side, maybe this allows us to continue the development of Jack Crawford.

Even sadder. Keep digging Risen. It's illuminating.

Well that's it right there.

That would be a called "An early round snob."

Everyone drafted after round 3 should be released.

really guys... devon coleman... JAG

Every single young player on every single team has his roster spot because somebody believed he has potential. The odds are stacked astronomically against these guys making it big, and yet you still get your Jay Ratliffs and Alfred Moreises and Ron Learys and Tony Romos. They have to come from somewhere.

How jaded and concerned with internet posturing do you have to be to not be able to acknowledge that simple reality?

Yes, the odds are very high that any one player in Coleman's situation will not reach his potential. That's how the league works. It doesn't mean we have to not like the player just because the odds are long.
