Scranton Tiger;2640231 said:You just can't do that. NASCAR tried that at the road course in Canada last season for a Busch race. The drivers just couldn't handle the cars and that's when the average speed is WELL under 100 MPH. It would be a disaster to try that on a high speed track. What they should do is either wait out the rain (Daytona does have lights so that wouldn't be a problem) or finsih on Monday. There is NO WAY the premeir event of the sport should EVER be called before the finsih. That's what happens when you have someone who isn't a leader (Brian France) leading the sport.

Spoken like someone who either is a Dale Earnhardt hater or someone who is a fringe fan and doesn't watch every race every season. Dale Earnhardt did indeed drive VERY aggressive. It's how he came by the moniker of "Intimidator". However, despite the myths, he rarely wrecked someone. Oh it did happen every once in a while, but more often than not, Earnhardt would move a driver without putting him in the wall. Fans know it today as the "bump and run". Bump a car just enough to loosen him up so the driver would have to move up the track a little giving Earnhardt room to pass under him. He was the unquestioned master at that. There are only two instances of Earnhardt taking out another driver that come immediately to mind. One was Darrell Waltrip driving the #11 Budweiser car at the old Richmond fairgrounds in the mid eighties (86 or 87). The other was Terry Labonte driving the #5 Kelloggs car at Bristol in 99. I'm sure there's probably one or two more, but the point is, despite the myth, Dale Earnhardt rarely wrecked another driver. He didn't have to because he was just that good.jimmy40;2640222 said:Yea, they're all basically the same, if I wreck you it's just racing, if you wreck me you need to learn to drive. It's called the "Dale Earnhardt school of racing".
must be why all air traffic shuts down in the rain. what was I thinking?Biggems;2640233 said:are you insane? have you ever used windshield wipers going 70, 80, 90? they seem like they want to fly off. now try using them while going 200....the can be deadly. If they fly off, they could go into a window of another car and injure or kill the driver and cause a huge accident....or they can fly into the stands and cause severe harm to fans.

That's one thing we agree 100% on. Oh how I miss the days when CMT and ESPN (when they weren't so commercial) broadcast 90% of the races. You also didn't have to worry about idiototic graphics all over the screen and you would NEVER have a moron showing us something on a cut away car during green flag racing.Yeagermeister;2640250 said:I agree when I first started watching racing the pre race lasted maybe 10 minutes. The broadcast started when the race started.
I don't care about seeing someone butcher the national anthem.
100% and proud of it. Not ashamed to say I cried the day we lost him.jimmy40;2640264 said:Spoken like an Earnhardt fan.

Aint that the truth. I have know doubt that Big Bill is turning over in his grave at how his grandson is well on the way to destroying what he worked so hard to build.jimmy40;2640268 said:or a cartoon ground hog with glasses.

If anyone should understand the views on Earnhardt it should be Cowboys fans. What's that motto we live by? Embrace the hate...
The most popular driver, the most popular team. People love to hate them.

Oh he did at least once and tried at least one more time both during the 1987 Winston All-Star Race. Elliott took out the #5 Levi Garrett car driven by Geoff Bodine and tried to take out Earnhardt driving the #3 Wrangler car but couldn't do it. Remember the "Pass in the Grass"? Of course while trying to take out Earnhardt, Elliott damaged a tire which eventually blew out ending his chances at victory.Yeagermeister;2640291 said:Bill Elliot....I have never seen him him intentionally wreck someone.....not saying it didn't happen just that I can't remember it.
Didn't he die because he was blocking and not racing?Scranton Tiger;2640266 said:100% and proud of it. Not ashamed to say I cried the day we lost him.
