He wanted to delay it, as if it was some kind of master strategy to unveil it just before game #1 on the Giants. LOL

He had no choice. Either that or he was smart enough to realize he stunk it up as an OC and it was his ONLY shot at keeping his job.

This analysis is trenchant. Pretty sure you nailed it. Thanks for sharing.

Have been waiting all offseason for conformation that Callahan would be calling the plays. This is great news.

No. He is saying this makes them look dysfunctional.

No good call at all.

They all just make themselves look like fools making a cluster out of nothing.

There was no cluster at all until Jerry opened his mouth. Until that, it was business as usual around here and the only cluster was with the media and fans all uppity about who was going to call the plays, as if it was something we had to know.

No. I'm on the phone....moved so I've been without internet for a few days.

Misread your post and thought you were asking why they would share it.

My bad.

It's a normal process that 31 other teams are capable of handling.

Only in Dallas is a change this poorly mishandled.

No problem.

But you had me puzzled for a minute.

Seriously?

One is in the booth with a mic talking to the other, who is on the sideline with a clipboard.. who's calling the plays?

Well, in theory, once an opponent knows who the play caller is then they can game plan accordingly.

The only issue with that is that I would assume the Giants could figure it out during preseason.

Not even the lowly bottom dwelling teams are that naive to think there's some grand advantage to be gained by keeping the play caller a secret.

Then again, most teams hire an OC to actually be the OC so this is kind of rare territory to begin with. Not often has a team hired a guy and given him the label of OC just to have someone else do it.

Yeah, I tethered my phone up and re-read it and was like...........crap, didn't see that. Maybe he won't notice. :)

Especially when those 'inner workings' look to be a misaligned mess.

Recon?

As if its a startling revelation?

Like this big secret wouldn't get out?

Like maybe preseason game 1 which also doesn't count?

This is simply the latest embarrassment in a long line.

Dysfunction Junction.

You in no way refute anything I say. And apparently it's a revelation the way everyone around here is acting. And yes I think that giving the Commanders, Giants, Eagles, et al an extra two months to research Callahan's tendencies is to our disadvantage.

And I think you are being more than a little melodramatic.

Again, everything was business as usual with the team until the clown came out to do his show. If Jerry doesn't open his mouth, the only ones who think there's a problem are the fans and the media.. neither of which matters when trying to win games. No controversy, no cluster, no quagmire.. just business as usual for the team, and wild speculation and outrage from the media and fans.

Wow!

If this is what we would have to stoop to to try to win a game, I wold rather lose, thanks!

This theory is even more embarrassing than what we're currently getting!

Fuzzy, you believe whatever you want.

And say whatever helps you try to justify what is obvious to any and everyone outside of Dallas to be a muddled mess.

You praise it while the rest of the world laughs at them.

There are years of Callahan's tendencies for the world to see, just like Garrett's.

Fumbling a simple announcement doesn't change that.

Know what else doesn't win games?

I disagree.

Their mishandling of a normal change has made things much worse.

It might have, but only because Jerry has twice now opened his mouth on a topic his HC obviously preferred stayed closed.

And, if you think the play calling question in Dallas would be treated like a 'normal change' then there's very little we'll have in common in our respective opinions re: how non-stories are handled during the Dallas offseason. In a town where Tony Romo's golf habits and Dez Bryant's friend's low-rise pants at a shopping mall are regular fodder for rampant speculation, a juicy story about a boy-wonder HC being publicly neutered by the meddlesome owner *is* going to get more than its share of unnecessary coverage. That's inevitable.

I think you're one of the fans i was referencing in my earlier posts, but you seem to want to try and make a huge deal out of this for sure. Who was hiding anything? Trying to hide something and simply not announcing something are two very different things my friend. This isn't Spygate, Watergate, or Ranchgate.. this is a HC who doesn't normally share much information with the media simply saying there's no advantage to sharing this information with you guys, so we won't.

And again.. since it doesn't seem to be sinking in for you.. things would have been peachy keen and business as usual as far as the team goes if not for Jerry feeling the need to open his mouth when there was no need to, for the umpteenth time. The only ones who had any issue up until today were the media trying to stir up some drama and some uppity fans who think they are entitled to know every little detail like this.

I'm saying a formal organized announcement would be much better than a disorganized, back and forth, he said, he said hat we're getting now.

The owner and head coach should at least be on the same page on the subject.

Once an announcement is made, that's it. They can write heir story for he week and then everyone moves on.

Now?

They have even more dysfunction to write and talk about.

Hey, maybe Jerry was bored or just feeling neglected?

"Stoop to"?

You act like alot of teams don't have coordinators and other coaches up in the booth on Sunday's with headsets. Did you think this was something new or unusual, or are you just trying to be this overdramatic about this?
