I think you're one of the fans i was referencing in my earlier posts, but you seem to want to try and make a huge deal out of this for sure. Who was hiding anything? Trying to hide something and simply not announcing something are two very different things my friend. This isn't Spygate, Watergate, or Ranchgate.. this is a HC who doesn't normally share much information with the media simply saying there's no advantage to sharing this information with you guys, so we won't.

And again.. since it doesn't seem to be sinking in for you.. things would have been peachy keen and business as usual as far as the team goes if not for Jerry feeling the need to open his mouth when there was no need to, for the umpteenth time. The only ones who had any issue up until today were the media trying to stir up some drama and some uppity fans who think they are entitled to know every little detail like this.

This team is currently have minicamps, they're not on vacation.

Somebody is handling playcalling at those camps.

Trying to continue any charade is just stupid.

Yeah, shame on me for wanting to know this team's offensive coordinator!

Where do I get off being so nosey?

The depths hat fans will stoop to in order to make excuses for this team's screw-ups never ceases to amaze me.

Logic goes out the window!

"Stoop to"?

You act like alot of teams don't have coordinators and other coaches up in the booth on Sunday's with headsets. Did you think this was something new or unusual, or are you just trying to be this overdramatic about this?

Who else in this league has a 'secret coordinator'?

You give me that answer and you win.

You don't have the right to accuse anybody of 'disconnect', not after the tripe you've tried and failed to sell here.

I'm saying a formal organized announcement would be much better than a disorganized, back and forth, he said, he said hat we're getting now.

The owner and head coach should at least be on the same page on the subject.

Once an announcement is made, that's it. They can write heir story for he week and then everyone moves on.

Now?

They have even more dysfunction to write and talk about.

Hey, maybe Jerry was bored or just feeling neglected?

We're not disagreeing on that point. I'm saying no announcement at this time was the best possible choice. A unified front would be the next best choice. What we've got now on this topic is the worst possible outcome (it's not the end of the world, but it's the worst outcome).

And it would not have happened if Jerry could just hold his water. It's just a PR mistake and yet another unnecessary distraction for a team that's desperately trying to limit them.

Ol' Jerry is savvy. I'll give him that.

He has officially sucked the majority of you and you can't even see what's right in front of you.

Not only this forum, but i'm sure it'll be a talking point once it reaches networks, etc.

Someone mentioned timing.

There's a month long lull between mandatory mini camp in a week and training camp. Why, oh why, would this be important in this situation?

If you're a casual sports fan, it's not. You're looking for any Cowboys information you can get your hands on during this period, and with no progress reports on players/practices the national spotlight starts to wane on the Dallas Cowboys.

Jerry knows that. The man owns the most profitable sports franchise in the world. So, what does he do?

Holds out on a decision that had been made internally months ago, for an opportune moment during the offseason, not only to keep the spotlight shining brightly on the Cowboys during the eternity between mini-camps and training camp, as the media and news outlets swim to drama like a shark to blood, but to build up a frenzy before training camp in anticipation of seeing "Callahan's" influence on the offense.

Jason knew full well of this development, long before the announcement. It's comical how he can just ignore questions from the media and the media will do the rest. Well played, Jason. Well played.

Genius, really.

I agree that this was the worst option.

But I see no valid reason other than Garrett's bruised ego, that they cold not have simply announced it and moved on.

There is no advantage to how they have handled this thing.

..and what is your point here?

The team is currently having OTA's? Oh really?

Someone is calling the plays at the OTA's? Get outta here..

What charade is this that you speak of? Its just as you said, OTA's are going on, and someone is calling the plays at them. Business as usual, like i've said about 10 times to you now.

Where is the problem? What part of the team was in a cluster before today? Or were they just fine running a football program without feeling the need to inform the fans of every little detail of what's going on with it?

Like you said.. the only ones who gained anything by us announcing this are you, the fan, because you really wanted to know.. and the media, who can now hound the coaching staff and front office about the playcalling drama and the JG public castration after every loss.

"So, Jason, do you think you guys would have won if you were calling the plays?

Does the team still respect you even after Jerry announced publicly that you are incompetent at parts of your job?

Bill, do you think you should really be the guy to call the plays?"

If you can't imagine hundreds of stupid questions from our mediot beat team already, you haven't been following the Cowboys close enough.

All making the annoucement does is appease the fans, which shouldn't matter at all, and create an oppertunity for the media to stir up more bs. That's all.

JG's play calling wasn't the problem. We bogged down in the Redzone over and over. And that was because we couldn't run the ball.

Having said that I am glad JG isn't calling plays anymore. It allows him to focus on being a head coach and his other duties. Many coaches around the league don't call plays.

Huge non-story. JG's responses were intelligent, mature and measured.

I'll ask again, what other team in the league has (or needs) a "Secret Coordinator"?

Thanks in advance!

:)

You don't have to like it.. but you're clearly not aware of how long the media will hold on to what happened today.

You think this is going to be a week long thing and then everyone will just forget about it?

:laugh2:

The Cowboys coaches and front office are going to be answering stupid questions about this all year long.

The obvious answer to that is they were hoping to avoid the unflattering coverage and to release the precious play calling information at a more convenient time when it would be a lesser distraction. That's pretty much public-relations 101 right there.

Rightfully so, now....

Every other team in the league just does it, but not in Dallas.

And people still wonder why they can't win.

I really don't think making stupid little announcements about who is doing what in every little aspect of the team contributes anything either way to winning or losing football games.

Also, "rightfully so"? I guarentee none of the questions that we're going to hear all year about who's calling the plays are going to be helpful or informative in any way. Its just gonna be more drama from a group of idiot beat writers.

The only problem with him being head coach is he really doesn't know his butt from a hole in the ground when it comes to how to be a head coach. He's an offensive coordinator--and a marginal one at that.

With that said, I agree the red zone was part of the problem last year. But we were still one game away from the playoffs and not making it in ultimately did not come down to the red zone. It came down to stupid play calling and bad head coaching--again.
