I hope so. It would be nice to see the character truly cut loose on screen like in the comics. All the movies thus far show or imply him slashing at opponents but nothing truly reflective of the significant damage he can dish out--regardless whether he's slicing and dicing with his adamantium or bone claws. A true representation of his Berserker Rage would be great also. The Wolverine (and even the Jean versus Logan scene in X-Men:The Last Stand) did a good job illustrating how his mutant healing factor makes him a formidable opponent in battles but I wish any new movies will really show how the combination of his mutant power, claws, fighting skills and sheer will make him one of the elite killing forces on Earth (and beyond).

I really think Deadpool has opened a huge door for other similar movies in the future. The sheer success it had this weekend without either a household name or the kid audience that really drives superhero movies is telling for what direction they could really go in some of these films. I would love to see some darker, more violent adaptations of the Marvel characters similar to what DC has done with its movies lately. This line of the animated movies is pretty dark itself, especially the Superman Doomsday movie. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/DC_Universe_Animated_Original_Movies

R-movies today were PG back in the day. Watched every Nightmare and Jason Flick there was from 7 years old on up, saw every Action flick by Arnie, sly, bruce, mel, etc also. As long as parents talk to their children about the movie and explain that it is a MOVIE aka fantasy land whats the big deal. Though really sexy flicks maybe a line I will draw with my child.

I'm late to this thread...if you are able to watch an R rated movie, go watch deadpool and enjoy. Avoid Zoolander 2 at all cost. I watched Zoo 2 after but Deadpool left bar too high.

It was just okay for me. Don't really understand the rave it's getting, but to each their own. The action was great, but the joking around (which I know is his character) just came off dead and unfunny to me. I don't mind dirty and raunchy humor sometimes but it just fell dead, and it was like they were trying too hard, most of it seemed unnecessary.

But again to each their own. I enjoyed it and will see the second one.

The movie was poor but Ryan Reynolds carried it to enjoyable. Seems like him and the Rock will always make bad career decisions. All it takes will be both of them in a Tango & Cash remake.

Bad career decision? Seems like he nailed this one.

He was box office poison after Green Lantern, Deadpool was in development hell, it was only made after the leaked trailer got a huge response. Even then, 7 million was cut from the budget last minute and the ending was changed . I'm a big Reynolds fan from his Two girls, a guy and a pizza place days, and am really happy to see him doing well, but this movie isn't what you call typically developed by any means.

Made AFTER the trailer? How is that possible?

This movie has taken a lot to get developed and made right, and Reynolds was a huge part of making it happen. And now it has turned into a massive success. It seems like the epitome of a great career choice.

The scene with the car on the freeway was shot years ago as test footage. Sat around for ages. Released it as trailer, shot the rest of the movie.

The epitome of a great career choice is Jack in Titanic, Deadpool started off like this :

Took a while for this to shine through as a good career move.

But I was mostly talking about his other roles and of course the Rock taking on Baywatch.

yeh he's right... they used a trailer as a pitch to fox to get the film made.

I mean, it was a massive box office success and opened the door for other lesser know marvel characters while simultaneously opening the door for other R rated Marvel/DC movies. I would call the decision to take THIS part a good one.

Speaking of trailers:D...gamers got a a taste of the real Wolverine in '09 on 360/PS3: universally loved by Marvel fans. Wolverine would dwarf Deadpool's recent R rated success, etc.

I would also personally recommend the Deadpool game out on all gen systems (ps3/360/PS4/X1) as it is a game that also showcases the "real" Deadpool and is also Mature rated.

Deadpool trailer(clean):

Didn't mean to take over, the discussion was great and should continue (a lot of comic fans are also gamers so may be of assistance, etc..)

I liked it quite a bit, which surprised me.

Maybe I'm getting old, but raunchy humor is just kind of tired for me nowadays. Those kinds of jokes just aren't well crafted or clever and typically the whole joke is "omg I can't believe he said that".

But I thought parts of this movie were really funny and I think they executed this movie as best as the could.

That said, I really hope this DOESN'T open the door for more edgy comics... They're just silly in retrospect.
