Well if they want to transfer him before June 1st and they are going to absorb most of the money left on his contract, which would be dead money of 22.6M in 2023 and 11.3M in 2024, I think it would be a very good option, since it would only cost 8.1M in 2023 and 14.9M in 2024 to whoever receives him, if he gets to 3/4 of the level he had, it would be something pretty good.
I was curious about his actual cap figures. Thanks for clarifying. At those numbers, I'd absolutely trade a 2nd if he's will to play on that contract.

The reason why they traded Cooper was cause he was making 20 million annually and they cannot afford to keep all three. They can release Gallup after next season, but still cannot have two receivers making 20 million, with a QB making double that.
That is why they are hot for OBJ supposedly he wants a Gallup type contract. I think he will be a Cowboy.

Hop is not what he he used to be,imo .. not like his ex-Houston Texans days ....but would he better than any other rookie WR in the 2nd round ..?

and the Cowboys and Hop can work the long term deal ...

OJB would not cos a high pick ... but yet coming off an ACL recovery year where he did not play it off ..that could be very risky.
Even Galup actually played the entire year but never return to form ...

I think a 2nd rounder is pretty good value. If you average his stats from his last 2 shortened seasons (21 games, 106 rec, 1289 yds, 11 TDs) he’d have more than 1,000 yards and 9 TDs in a full season. He’s probably good for another 3, maybe 4 years.

Exacty........$8 mill this year and $15 mill next year for a 2nd would be a great deal if he is even remotely close to what he used to be.

Besides, somebody remind me of all these great players we draft in the 2nd round. Like in the last 6 or 7 drafts, how many 2nd rounders are starters currently?

Awuzie, Connor Williams, and Trevon Diggs were all 3 or 4 year starters for us. Sam Williams is a rotational edge but could potentially start this year. Their track record in the 2nd has been better since Jaylon Smith. Trysten Hill and Kelvin Joseph seem to be the only real misses in the last 6 years.

The Texans had already said they weren’t going to eat any money. Fell apart over draft compensation. Point being the cowboys were ready to take on the money
I heard that they didn’t get a chance to rework his contract, but the deal wasn’t close. He is a veteran release candidate, if cut, then the cowboys will be back in play. Really think Obj is there #1 target, he will be cheaper and doesn’t cost any draft capital

He's not that guy anymore I'd rather ask the Bucs about Evans. They are rebuilding now throw them a 2nd and 3rd

Not trading for a WR. Get one in the draft if you want. You can’t stock your roster full of old, high-priced players. When has that ever worked?

Obj wants 13-14 million dollars a year and hasn’t played in over a year. I’m not sure how that’s really a better alternative - yes he doesn’t cost draft capital which is huge but he also may not make the impact we want and we’d once again be relying on a guy coming off a bad injury

Heard his number was similar to Gallup’s deal, both should more healthy a year post surgery. He was good for the Rams for their stretch run as a complementry piece
