Defense is still huge. Especially if you don’t have a generational qb like mahomes. The eagles offense was dominant but the defense was equally as deadly all year. Even in the postseason they almost broke the regular season/playoff sack record. You need both.

It is pretty much impossible to even get to the super bowl w/o a D. KC doesn't beat Cincy w/o a D. Eagles' D is what made the difference vs SF.

One game does not a fact make.

I believe that the Eagles win w/o that play. Completely changed the momentum of the game.
Was very huge for momentum and keeping the chiefs engaged in the game which the eagles had done a lot of what they wanted.

Their frantic attempt to dismiss this theory just reveals that they know they aren't winning it on offense with this QB.
There’s a handful of quarterbacks (maybe) in the league that can lead teams to Super Bowls by themselves. No really a knock on dak to say he isn’t one. It’ll take a total team effort.

Not really a diss on him

Pretty much all game it was obvious to me that the Eagles were the better team. The Eagles were out coached, and a Mahomes led team is probably going to take advantage of your mistakes.

It’s amusing to watch some say defense doesn’t win championships though in a game where one of the biggest momentum turns happened on a defensive touchdown in a game that was won ultimately by a field goal.

There are no absolutes in the NFL b/c the league is constantly adapting. I think the 49ers would have won it this year if they didn't have to play their 4th string QB in the NFC title game.

At the end of the day it's an offensive game, and in todays NFL, a great offense usually beats a great defense.

This isn't the 90s or early 2000's anymore where you could win with great defensive play. You're not allowed to play defense the same way anymore and the game has been geared more towards the offensive side of the ball while more rules have been put in place that make playing defense harder.

These defenses were #1 and #2 in the NFL in sacks and both teams put up at least 30 points.

Jalen Hurts accounted for 4 TDs while Mahomes won the Super Bowl MVP and played lights out. It's a QB game now more so than it's ever been. As Warren Sapp said recently "You train to be within 1 score at the end of the game now and you let your 100 million dollar QB take you home". That's exactly what we saw last night.

A good defense is a great thing to have, but if you don't have the offense then you don't have anything.
You want to be good to great in all three phases of the game: offense, defense, and special teams

Also, have coaches who can make halftime adjustments and out coach the other team

It seemed to me the Eagles were outcoached during the second half

If the Cowboys defense gave up 31 points in a game and the offense scored 10 you'd be whining about the defense giving up 31 points.

That's how Dak fans roll.

Just because you have a defense that can sack the QB, it doesn't mean it's a great defense. The best single stat to look at to rank the defenses is Points Per Play stat. Philly was at #9 and KC was at #14. They were good to average when it came to giving up points. Definitely not great.

Just goes to show how clueless the OP is when it comes to evaluating anything related to football.

Cool story, Rowdy.

When you pay a QB that kind of money he has to earn it. If he can't, you are doomed because you've devoted too much cap space to the bum to build a team around him good enough to win with.

The Chiefs won the Super Bowl because they have an Elite Coach/Play caller and quarterback. Philadelphia, Jacksonville and Cincinnati were more talented teams.

Is your stat supposed to prove my post wrong or something?

The #14 team in your stat here just won the the Super Bowl......

Luckily I’m a Dallas fan again and dak is a player on the team. I give it out to everyone the team. Creating fake scenarios however doesn’t change the fact that what your saying about a game that was exactly played is wrong.

One of the biggest momentum changes in the game was a defensive touchdown. The play that sealed the game for kc was a defensive penalty……your takeaway defensive doesn’t win championships
