Defensive Backs Combine

S Harrison Smith helping his stock. 6-2, 213, and ran a 4.57. Also looking very smooth in position drills and showing good hands. 3rd rounder for sure that might sneak into the 2nd.

Now that's interesting. I'd written him off because he looked so awkward and a ton of his picks simply seemed like dumb luck. If he's smooth, that might make him an real option for us.

Anything about the CB from Iowa state that it was reported Ryan liked?
Sorry, I can not think of his name right now.

Leonard Johnson: his official 40 time?

....wait for it....wait for it...

4.71.

He looked OK in his drills though. Showed decent agility and decent hands. Caught a few and also dropped a few. That 40 time is going to hurt him though unless he can improve it on his pro day. Probably looking at 3rd round at best.

Thanks JonJon

I think some had him slotted for the 4th round anyway. Just wondering if he improved that any. That 40 time seems to have kept him in the general area.

What did kirkpatrick official time turn out to be

Update on some of the official 40 times according to NFL.com:

Bentley, Dwight 4.43
Claiborne, Morris 4.50
Dennard, Alfonzo 4.55
Gilmore, Stephon 4.40
Hosley, Jayron 4.47
Jenkins, Janoris 4.46
Johnson, Leonard 4.71
Kirkpatrick, Dre 4.51
Norman, Josh 4.66
Robinson, Josh 4.33

Minnefield and Boykins DNP

Either I missed Kirkpatrick's individual drills, of NFLN didn't show them. The final drill competitions are coming up.

4.51 according to nfl.com. Take it for what its worth.

I will take that as the word. NFL says it is then it is the official time. This is what I thought he would be around, I didn't think he could run a 4.4

yet his time is still on par with the other top CB.

Some guys that have been mentioned as Dallas prospects looked really bad running.

Leonard Johnson: 4.71
Cliff Harris: 4.64
Josh Norman: 4.66

Minnifield didn't run
Boykins was hurt at the senior bowl and didn't run
Hosley ran a good 4.47
Jenkins ran a smooth 4.46
Heyward(who I liked a lot) ran a 4.57
Kirkpatrick ran a 4.51

Cliff Harris is gonna be one of those on field guys. I wasn't expecting him to show great #'s at the combine.

with the slow numbers they better be able to get a great jab at the line of scrimmage and really be quick.

there are some quality slowish (in the 40) CBs but that is a handicap to overcome.

4.7 is ouch slow....

Its good or OK but not great. That is a great time for a safety though
didi Kirkpatrick even do the drills

4.64 for Harris is horrible. He needed great combine numbers w/ so many off field issues.

Claiborne at 4.5 isn't good either. For someone who was considered by many to be a top 5 pick, he should've posted a better time.

Stephen Gilmore with his size running a 4.4
how did he look in the drills

Also what about Judie, Fleming, and Bentley.

4.5 for Claiborne and 4.51 for Kirkpatrick is about average for their size. It's not great but isn't not bad.

Claiborne has great fluid hips.

Kirkpatrick's hips is the quesrtion mark.

Gilmore looked solid, showed pretty good hands although he dropped a couple later on in the team side by side competitions. He showed decent hips as well in his backpedaling. I think he solidified his status as a round 2 CB. Might even go higher than that if both Jenkins and Kirkpatrick go early.

Bentley looked fluid as well and much bigger than I thought he would. Showed impressive hands to go with his speed.

Didn't really pay much attention to the other two, plus NFL Network was doing a lot of talking with the drills going on in the background so it was hard to see everyone (I suspect this is why I missed Kirkpatrick's drills).

way to go NFL network. I'm sure their will be a write up by some sites about all the DBs tomorrow.

I'm starting to really like Gilmore and Bentley. I would take them both.
