Deion on Newman's "Cowards" Comments

Deion suggested Aikman was racist back when he was playing in Dallas; supposedly he said that to John Blake, which started the whole Aikman is a racist controversy in 1995.

Deion was probably the single biggest factor in bringing down the team of the 90's, other than the GM.

Stephen A. Smith interviewed TO back a month or so ago, and then on an interview with ESPN radio after that, he suggested that race plays a big part in the Witten/TO/Romo feud.
Eh, I really don't care that much. I want most of the guys on this team gone.:bang2:

Back to the OP, I'd like to see a link or a transcript of what Deion actually said before I conclude that he's just on another idiotic jag. This thread has high potential for having been driven by hearsay.

Seriously.

I heard that Romo and Witten were designing plays for each other, and that TO was referring to Witten as the rat BY THE MEDIA, but no evidence was given whatsoever. None. Zero. Zilch.

That's what happens when you bring in players like TO and Deion.

Not to be rude, but Deion Sanders' opinion on what we should and should not do is to be taken with a grain of salt.

I really hope Jerry Jones is smarter than that.

I really hope.
:hammer:

Not sure why he's treated as if he's the team's unofficial spokesperson...and I like Deion.

Teams with "reputable coaching staffs" usually win pretty big when they bring in "guys like TO and Deion". Don't let me distract you from your plan though.

Jerry coddles his players.. past and present...

People like Irvin, Deion, and Troy, (to name a few) are welcomed anytime and are probably given free reign in areas where some coaching staffs might consider off limits.

As long as we're making money who cares about a stinkin Lombardi. Love, Jerry

What plan? I just made a statement and you think I'm coming up with some plan.

I haven't read this whole thread, but the coward reference was to whoever leaked the TO story to the media, right?

There's no way Romo or Witten would be dumb enough to give Werder permission to report that story. It would obviously only make things tougher on them.

And I don't think Werder would be dumb enough to close off sources that good by reporting that story without their permission.

If Deion is implying Newman told him he thought the leaks were Romo and Witten, then Deion is either lying or Newman isn't very bright.

Maybe Deion is the exception, because when I look at TO, I dont see any rings.

It is perfectly normal for a QB to have a go-to guy he looks for when he gets into trouble. Staubach had Pearson, White had Cosbie, Aikman had Novacek, and Witten is Romo's.

I can't blame Tony for throwing to Witten since Jason has proved to be the most reliable receiver on this team time and again.

IF all this racial tension is true and not "media speak", then the troubles the Cowboys have go way beyond anything Wade can handle.

The circus that the Cowboys have become is unreal :(

I don't recall mentioning rings. Are you saying that having TO and Deion on teams has not contributed to an increase in wins?

It was documented in the America's Game for the Super Bowl XXX team about the Aikman/Deion/racism thing. and it was Haley(a black man) that said there is no way Troy was/is a racist. But that it was all about Aikman being a team leader and speaking up about how Deion carried himself, etc, when it came to being a team player. Im paraphrasing of course.

as for Steven A. Smith's TO interview, I thought it was said that race played a part in the "feud" from the point that members of the media were usuing that card. In other words that if all 3 guys were the same race that maybe there wouldnt have been any traction for the so-called "feud" to even get going.

x2. Time to start printing (and selling) some Team Witten t-shirts.

Yea, because that wouldn't scream "I love our divided locker room! More of that for me, please!" or anything.

Whatever. I have no control over this circus, might as well try to make some money while supporting a true Cowboy.

Maybe we need a similar fan revolution here, something has to give with this team.

Sorry, thought that might be part of your "fan revolution."

What about it? Don't tell me you are happy with the way this team is being run.

No, I just have more confidence in them than every armchair GM on this board that thinks the team would be so much better if they were at the helm.

If you were so full of awesome, I'm sure you'd be coaching/playing/GMing by now instead of the incessant "woe is me, TO is a baaaad man" act we read daily.
