Deion Sanders says we go 6-10 if we cut Terrell Owens

Stupid comment....without TO, we probably don't do any better than that with the current team, but the fact is if we cut TO, we'll certainly be looking at WRs in free agency and the draft....we won't go with the current roster.

TO sure is irreplaceable after helping his previous teams won the Superbowls....
Deion can continue fishing with Pacman

In 2005 this team was 9-7 without TO.

In 2006 and 2008 we've been 9-7 with TO and better all around talent than what we had in 2005.

2007 appears to be an aberation at this point.

He doesn't make a lick of difference in the won loss record.

He's a talented WR who presents some matchup problems but who at 35 years old is not going to be a difference maker. He needs to be phased out. Keep him in 2009 if he agrees to shut up and let him teach the other WRs (particularly Roy) about hard work.

This isn't a 6-10 with him or without him either one. He just ins't that important.

On the money, sir. My only addition: Given the relative lack of impact, why take the risk on having him in the locker room?

I wouldn't, but it isn't my choice. I don't see how the coaching staff can change the attitude in the locker room if the biggest malcontent on the team is back.

Agreed. Regardless of which side one falls on, regarding Owens, it will be interesting to see how the Cowboys braintrust navigates this off-season. Given all of the problems, and given the performance on the field near the end of the season, some things have to change. I don't think firing a special teams coach gets it done, though it was way beyond past time to get that done. Even firing the defensive coordinator is a bit shallow, considering Phillips ran the defense. Jones, for whatever reason, seems intent on keeping Phillips in place.

There aren't a lot of other places to go for substantial change. It's going to be interesting.

I can't wait to see if we bring in a DC or not. That has me more intrigued by far than what will happen with "the player."

Yea, if we cut TO, we'll certainly miss his lombardis and leadership.

Haha good one, and so true. Maybe Deion can try out for the OC job at his old team the 49ers.

:hammer:
The odd thing is, talent-wise, the Dallas Cowboys are one of the few teams who could afford to cut a player like Terrell Owens.

I find it hard to believe that a compotent Offensive Coordinator couldn't put together a strong gameplan with Tony Romo, Marion Barber, Felix Jones, Jason Witten, Roy Williams, Patrick Crayton and Miles Austin.

There are some teams that made the Playoffs that operated with alot less.

This team could lose anyone, including Ware, and not be 6-10.

That doesn't mean you cut good players and take a 9 million hit just because some fans are a little distracted...

Deion really made the great point that if T.O. is gone in 2009 we def go 8-8.

So T.O. is worth only one win a season? lol.

He has this mentality that we were 13-3 again.

All the 'circus' stuff that he brings isn't worth one win a season. I am sure there is enough talent on this team to pick up the slack.

The only fan who is "distracted" seems to be you. I couldn't care less if you or any other fan is distracted. I care about the team and the health and well being of the locker room.

Me distracted? Not hardly.

Entertained by the anti-TO teeth-gnashing and hand-wringing? Absolutely.

On the way back home, I heard Deion Sanders on The Fan talking Cowboys.

The hosts of the Show asked Deion Sanders what our record would be if we cut Terrell Owens. Deion Sanders said we would be 8-8. One of the Co-host promptly asked him what the big difference between 8-8 and 9-7.

Deion Sanders quickly changed his mind and stated that we would be 6-10 if we released Terrell Owens.

He also made it very clear that he felt Tony Romo was the main problem and not Wade Philips, Jerry Jones, Jason Garrett or Terrell Owens.
:laugh2: @ how Sanders went from predicting 8-8 to 6-10 within only a span of a few moments. That's some serious sucking up for his #1 televised one-on-one interviewee of 2008.

Damn Hos i love you.

T.O. is just too much baggage in the locker room.

This team needs a low key approach. People in the locker room will soon get tired of this circus. With T.O. they are constantly in the media spotlight.

True.

But i don't think we were on "TMZ" and gossip sites all the time. Its reached new heights. Dude is going in the media trying to tell his side of this and that. Its just too much.
