I was speaking of revenue in my original statement. Profit for each team would be a tedious search if I chose to do so. But hey maybe Ill give it a try later to see what you say is true.

But I thought you referred to how much owners are making so that would naturally be a question of profits and not revenue. If I'm mistaken, you have my apology, but I was certain that this was what was being discussed.

Yes they do and they pay out more also to their player's than both the nba and mlb. And that 40m a year amounts to 487,000 per game compared to Dlaw 1.3m a game. After they take care of that 40m they only have 11-14 players to pay. If that was the NFL they'd still have to play 52 others and actually 62 counting PS players. Mlb has not cap so that's makes it a lot easier. Nba has one that I have no clue how it works but I do know it's a soft cap and can go over and pay a luxury tax. The nfl has a hard cap and it's very manipulative. Think about how manipulative a soft cap would be.

NFL makes more money, pay out more money, and their players make more per game. Bryce Harper has a great chance to play out his 13 year deal. NFL players have a very small chance of playing out a 13 yr guaranteed contract. With a cap can you imagine having 75m+ dead money? Lol people cry about 10m. Get rid of the cap we can have a logical conversation with NFL fully guaranteed contracts. Until then it can't, won't and shouldn't happen.
FYI...... every team got a check for 255m from just the TV deal last year

That is more than enough to cover the entire 177m salary cap and another 40m in required benefits, pensions and insurance

The NFL knows every player is guaranteed to get their money..... a team can't go bust and not pay them

NFL players take more years off their life in those less games.....therefore deserve more money than what they are getting IMO. I just have a problem with the owners getting most of the fans money.

Agree never had a issue with nfl players getting paid.

Then you suck ?!

He is not worth the money. Look at the games that count. Great players have another gear when going into the playoffs. He doesnt. More on the ground then making plays.
Slow down. Next time you want to bash him watch how many offensive players focus on him. Then compare to the rest of the dline. Apply that over a season. Lets get away from the whole "stats" tell a whole story mindset.

But we have no idea what the actual total expense of overhead is and how much any given owner needs to or wants to make. This discussion is actually kinda pointless to me because we don't have all of the relevant Data and we don't really have any right to say how much any given owner wants or needs to make.

I mean, I know this, if I opened a business and I built it, I would not want anybody telling me how much money I could or should make. That's not why you take the risk of investing in a business.

My stance is how much more money the owner are making than players and I think players should be getting most of the money that is generated by the fans.

Why? They didn't invest in the franchise or take the risk. Why do they deserve more? If they want to make more, go open a Franchise. I don't get it.

Well they are monopolies and get Anti trust exemptions so they kind of have to listen especially with their publicly funded stadiums..... dont cry for me argentina

They literally invest years off of their lives to include not only physical issues but also mental issues. For the enjoyment of fans. Fans pay money which in turns pays the players salary but of course the owners keep most of that money and dont entertain me at all. You really dont get it?

They are not monopolies. They are protected by Anti Trust exemptions but so what. Without those protections, they really can't exist IMO. As far as the Stadiums go, nobody is forcing cities to pay for them. You can say no and a team can take the team elsewhere. That effectively relieves any city from the burden. It's a business model so there is give an take and it is wise to invest where it makes sense, in terms of a good business model but it is not wise to allow public opinion to dictate what an owner should make, in terms of profits. That's not good business in any way, shape or form.

They invest in their own futures. If what you say was true, then free agency would not be in existence. As far as "Fan Enjoyment", that's not true at all. Players are in it for their own futures, not for the Fans. If it were for the Fans, then we would never have issues like we just did with Lawrence. That's not true at all.

I don't think it's me who is not getting it.

I was saying from our perspective the NFL is for the fans. If we did not watch it support it and spend our money the NFL would literally not exist. Are you really saying what I am saying is not logical?

No. I'm saying that this statement, in no way justifies the position that players deserve more, simply because they are players. The Market is the best way to determine what any given player deserves.

The players on the teams are why fans watch. Have you ever tuned into a game to watch Jerry Jones in the owners box?

And if there was not a Franchise, somebody who put up the money to organize a team and invest, there would be no product for you to "Watch on TV". Would it surprise you to know that I would much rather go watch a HS game then a Pro Game because, while the quality is not nearly as good, the game is more honest. It's more about the game and that's really the draw for me. It's not the Pro Athletes. That's actually the worst part of the game to me. Now, having said all of this, how does your statement justify players making more simply because they are players? If you want to pay players more, then lets get rid of the NFL all together and feel free to go out and pay the players you enjoy watching play. The only problem is that you are probably going to have to send it to the NCAA because that's what you had before you had the NFL and as we all know, they don't pay players so yeah.

Players deserve what the market will determine they merit. Players do not deserve more simply because they are players.

If there were no fans there would be no reason to have a franchise.....again have you ever tuned into to watch Jerry Jones in the owners box? Supply and demand my friend. Do not discount your impact on Jerry Jones bank account.

I watch him alot. And also because everybody is singing the song that he is double teamed on most if his plays.

But that isnt the case. When he is double teamed (this happens like around 40% of his plays) its more often by TE/RB combo then by what peoples wishful thinking of Tackle/RB. The TE/RB combo in 90% of the cases is successfull against him. A tackle alone can handle him against the pass.

Against the Rams the double teams against him were absurd. He was manhandled by WR/RB combos most of the time and was more on the ground then making plays. It was a disasterous game for him.

But the guy did the same thing that Romo already did with us. We maneuvered us into a position where we were dependent on that one player. And he used it to his advantage.

What makes you think that there would be no fans? There would still be fans, just like there were before the NFL was around. I mean, that's what I'm trying to tell you. There is still the College game. There is football all around you and apparently, you don't pay attention to it. But because there were owners who invested in the League, you now have a product to watch. The Pro Athletes are on TV because these owners invested. They are making money, big money because of these investments. If that went away, there would still be football, there just wouldn't be a lucrative avenue with which to get paid for it.

Bottom line, if your argument is that the Pro Game is what is important to you, as a fan, then you should be 100% in line with the idea that players should not get paid more, simply because they are players. You say supply and demand but do you really understand that concept? If you do, then why do you not subscribe to the market determining value of any given player? I mean, that is the very basis of supply and demand. If you allowed players to simply get paid more because they play, then you basically lay the foundation for failure of the entire league. All that would happen is that all players salaries would simply escalate to the point of none profitability and the league would eventually fail, out of hand. That is not a sound method to base players salaries on.
