Why would teams trade draft picks to us when there's a better alternative available on the open market?

Because it wouldn't be the offseason if people didn't have their madden controllers out.

It's be a cool move, though, if we could pull it off. :)

I guess MIN kind of did something like that when they traded Harvin and signed Jennings.

people have conditioned themselves to think that any trade only happens in madden. I'm sure Jerry doesn't help.

3-4 team might.

Unfortunately, doubtful Spencer gets moved. Hopefully a long term deal is worked out so Dallas avoids the exact same situation again.

Spencer holds the cards unless they trade him.

NFL | Elvis Dumervil fires agent
Sat, 16 Mar 2013 16:22:52 -0700
Free-agent DE Elvis Dumervil has fired his agent Marty Magid after his restructured contract was not filed in time and was released by the Denver Broncos. Magid has allowed Dumervil to look for a new agent immediately.

Agents have that kind of say?

Dang...I knew Dumervil should have never hired Bob Sugar as his agent

Dumervil just refused to take less than $12 million.....Spencer reports say he is willing to negotiate ...I dont see the win in that scenario

Actually Dumerville signed a contract with a base of 8 mil a year but his agent didn't get paperwork faxed over to the Broncos in time to submit it to the league....

I think I read something about the agent not making Dumervil wait 5 days or something like that which is probably some legal time period or written in the contract. I guess it was the least he could do. This story still amazes me.

though Dumervil could argue that since the agent screwed up he has proven himself incompetent and Dumervil should be able to dump him right away for failure to adequately represent him

There must be provisions in the agency agreements to keep players from working out a deal with one agent and the switching at the last minute to another party who'd then scoop the commissions. 5 days, in most situations, are sufficient to change the FA landscape.

In this case, Magid is going to lose more than this one commission. A screwup like this is hard to imagine. He's in damage control now, and just has to do whatever can be done to patch things over as much as possible. Dumervil got tubed pretty bad here. I hope he lands on his feet, because it sounds from all accounts like he's trying to be a good teammate and a reasonable actor here.

How do you figure that? One year deals are not exactly sought after. With a guaranteed deal even one favorable to the club he stands to make around twice as much guaranteed and well over that over the first two years of the contract.

He is not getting any younger and every extra year makes him that much less sought after on the open market. If he gets hurt then his earning potential goes into the toilet.

The Cowboys have secured his services for next year with no long term risk. There are no cards dealt.

He's averaged 12.5 sacks the past three years. I imagine he will be just fine.

No, he has averaged 6.83 sacks the last three years. He had 0 in 2010, 9.5 in 2011 and 11 in 2012.

The past 3 seasons that he played.

He didn't play in 2010 due to injury. Including that year in the average is misleading. He averaged 12.5 when considering 2009, 2011, and 2012.
