I even heard a couple morons on the fan say Deuce might have to make the team on special teams by fielding kicks. What an ****** dumb comment. Thats not what he is. That would be misusing him in an epic way. It will get him hurt. The guy is much more than a gimmicky special teams guy. Sometimes I hate the local Dallas media. They are grossly incompetent.

I was thinking that his size would be a hinderance at fielding kicks until somebody here brought up Darren Sproles in terms of size and position ONLY….not comparing the two players ability at this point

Sproles 5’6 180 lbs.
Vaughn 5’5. 176 lbs.

Sproles returned kicks and Punts for the Chargers and Saints and in 8 season with them he only missed a total of 6 games so it gave me pause in thinking his size would be a factor in the return game…..perhaps these little guys are that much better in avoiding the big hits

True. I recall Sproles being built thicker. I think they each carry the weight differently. Darren could absorb the hits I think returning kicks due to how thick he was up top. But I feel Deuce isn't the same ilk in that regard. I don't want him back there. He has much quicker vision and feet than Sproles. The burst is even better. Elite. His sense of when to juke and then cut is exceptional. Unreal. Darren was great but not that. But I get what your sayin. I just feel we need to get this kid in space on screens and let him do what he does. Use his size to his advantage. Let him be what he is, a rb with unique skills. He and Pollard can be very dynamic.

As a big Texas Tech fan, I remember a fantastic player who nobody drafted because he was too small.

He was 3” taller than Deuce Vaughn and turned into a 5 time All pro and caught over 100 passes in a year 5 times. He retired in 2015 and currently sits 23rd on the NFL’s All Time Receptions list. He also was a great punt returner and was often the backup K in an emergency. In fact one year, his team’s K pulled a hammy in warm ups and this guy kicked several XPs and FGs that day in addition to catching passes and returning punts.

His name is Wes Welker.

Being small does not mean you can’t play football. It is a disadvantage but it’s certainly not an ender.

A little short on the positives.
So 4 things

1. Jags played their Starters first quarter and 2. Dallas didn't unload their playbook. 3. 2 dumb turnovers on just protecting the ball. (They were very loose with the ball fixable) 4. I wasn't impressed with the QB, but I wouldn't mind seeing our 2nd and 3rd QBs training with the starters. We saw what Rush can do with primaries.

I hate losing, but this is all evaluation. I am worried about the interior oline. If Martin holds out, I'm not too impressed on what backs him up.. In fact, if any oline player gets hurt, Dak will be running for his life. Martin's agent evidently is not dumb and knows this.

You hate losing? What did they lose?

He should read my comments and take notes, because I’m right most of the time. Are you booking that Vaughn will be one of our top two RBs entering the regular season? Don’t dance around it, provide an answer.
LOL - I'll let DV provide you an answer. But don't worry...I haven't given up on you yet. I'm sure you're not hiding under a blanket. I'm sure you're probably adding the final touches to your grand speech about DV playing against 3rd stringers. Please come back soon and share your football expertise!
