Anyone who thinks they know what happened right now---whether he hit (or otherwise assaulted) her or not---is living in an alternate reality.

Dez's mother is obviously nuts. There's no credibility there. The witness may very well have more loyalty to his superstar brother who represents the family meal ticket than to his crack w**** mother who undoubtedly traumatized all of them to varying degrees. We have no idea what that situation is like and it's delusional to try and figure it out from a computer. Odds are we'll never know with any real certainty if anything happened.

However, I don't really see how the cops could build a case from this though. It would be nice to hear from a defense attorney or prosecutor on this. If there's no conviction, there shouldn't be a punishment from the league IMO. Only message that would send is that if you have a crazy relative who accuses you, you're assumed guilty.

What bothers me the most here is that Irvin--who knows him from the real world--wasn't more surprised by the allegations. That doesn't mean he's guilty...it just means that Irvin recognizes him as being very troubled. That's not something I just dismiss.
Only thing people know with any certainty is that an incident occurred...and somehow she sustained visible bruises.

With that limited info, the team nor the NFL should do anything until due process has run its course.

Well you are posting like a Commander or Eagles fan but you are from Cali so I have no idea.
http://i4.***BLOCKED***/albums/y103/extremeskins/ols.gif...Well, I could point out about 83 posts on this thread from Cowboys fans who have said things FAR more negative and defamatory against Dez than I anthing I've posted lol...But, yeah, I just assume that people here know I'm a Skins fan.

Its not about draft pics or trades...its about setting a tone for what behavior will be tolerated going forward. You don't wait for middle of the season after Dez has few "nice games" because you disrupt the team too much. You make the move now and let team adjust before the season. I would call every team in football and go to highest bidder even if it meant you got a back up snapper in return.

I remember a few years back when a story broke that Jason Witten was driving a boat drunk and killed someone. I guess the team should have immediately traded him for peanuts before the truth even came out. It's beyond ridiculous to me for anyone to believe that Dez just started beating on his mom and should be given up on right now before we even know what happened.

Well then there is Irvin...He isnt saying lets wait for the facts....He is quick to say it not about football, lets get Dez some help. These guys have to be hearing more facts than us.

IF I am reading these guys right the help they are talking about is getting him the hell away from the people who are trying to drag him down. He hasn't had drug problems and he hasn't had DUIs or weapons charges so at the end of the day I think it's more about getting him around people who can help him mature a bit. It's obvious his mother hasn't matured at all.

And that Dez is remorseful for his part in the whole shibang...

Says the only witness that has spoken as well as her supposed injured wrists and hands. You don't those injuries by being hit on, you get them by doing the hitting and then being restrained.

The intrawebbings mezzageburds says Dez just walked up to his mother while she was knitting him a sweater vest and reached back and pegged her in the face.

Sorry, I gotta go with the intrawebbings mezzageburds. They seem pretty credible.

Actually, it's absolutely about draft picks or trades. NFL is a business and while it's easy to suggest the team should "send a message" or "set the tone" if it in some way hurts the team's ability to field a competitive team or hamstrings them in anyway, they're not cutting anyone unless the offense is too egregious.

Short of him committing a Rae Carruth-like crime, this isn't a cuttable offense. It's strike one on the list of cuttable offenses...IF this turns out to be true.

Strike one? It's his third run in with the police in a year.

Well, first let me say, "Boy I am perceptive."

Secondly, most of those "fans" are more or less masochistic so they don't count. Most of them are the same one whining about most of the team anyway.

Well the getting worse part would bother me as well. But that may just be ESPN sensationalism though.

If anyone in the media had any info damaging to Dez, does anyone really believe they would be sitting on it? They couldn't get on TV fast enough to spill the news. If anything, it's getting better for Dez with each hour that passes.

The thing I find most troubling is how quickly people want to give up on this kid. As other posters have mentioned, you're crazy if you think the Cowboys didn't know what they were getting themselves into. He was going to need some solid direction in his life. He comes from a horrible upbringing. The things that have happened that have brought attention his way are not even remotely close to warranting giving up him, which will in turn hurt him even more.

Who wouldn't be? I'm sure he is remorseful for even showing up let alone the whole PR thing that's going on. And the only one who has said that has been an "adviser". Not his rep and not the team so nothing from Dez at all.

Notice I mentioned of the personal conduct policy. The mall altercation doesn't fall under that.

As for the incident in Jan., that doesn't seem to have done anything but generate headlines. He wasn't arrested or charged with anything.

So yes, this is his first alleged incident that could truly fall under the personal conduct policy.

Well if you look at his problems they are slowly escalating. Immature college decision, then security guards at mall, then being questioned by police for violence in Miami and now arrested for it. I hope it works out but...I wouldnt turn a blind eye to it and say its nothing.

I agree. They are just making themselves look more like arses than they normally do.

Right, so that means he beat up his mom.

What 3 run ins in the past year?

Nightclub- turned out to be nothing.

What else?
