Dez: Vikings won't let that happen

Yeah, and they beat nobody.

Swept by the two good teams in their division too, splitting only with the woeful Bears.

Take a look at their '7-9' and you can see it for the fraud that it truly is.

Every team they beat last year - outside of Carolina - was among the league's worst and was picking in the Top 10 of this year's draft, and even the Panthers finished with a sub .500 record.

If you want to make the case that you think they're better than us, Seattle, or Green Bay, I'd be interested to hear it?

You might be right.

I originally thought that Peterson would be traded or released this year before the suspension last year.

Only 2.4 million in dead money this year and I don't think the May 12th date has any impact on him, though it might on Carr. It'll be very interesting to see if a trade goes down tomorrow for Carr and a pick for Peterson.

What Cris Carter said is also intriguing, unless he was full of it or if whatever he was talking about fell through.

We don't want Dez to sign it.

Dez is still a Cowboy through and through. Talked to Collins on the phone and told Collins that Jerry Jones will have his back.

You don't want Dez to sign his franchise tag? It doesn't appear he's not getting a deal with the Cowboys so you are basically saying you don't want Dez on the team. Until he signs that tag he has about as much claim to being a Cowboy as AP.

They aren't going to win anything with AP, they could be a little bitter and a lot better in the future with some high draft picks and without his cap burden.

Correctomundo, if it was Seattle or Green Bay maybe that argument would hold water, not giving him up to your competitor.......but come on, Vikings playing the Cowboys in the NFC title game?

They just want to rebuild their OL just like everyone else is nowadays.

They have over a month left to get a deal done, I'd rather they keep working on it than for him to sign it.

The Vikes would be in a better position this round, in fact, they could partially reverse the Herschel curse and build towards the future with high round draft pics and salary cap relief.

The HW trade was once in a life time. It aint happening again.

Ah, you are one of those people who think Dez doesn't have a deal yet because they just haven't negotiated the right numbers yet. That's just naïve.

They haven't negotiated the right numbers because the market hasn't been set. Dez isn't going anywhere, and if you'd like to do a sig bet otherwise, I'm up for it.

Sucks to be a Vikings fan.

If AD holds out for TC it may force the vikings hand. Then AD may become cheaper, let's say a 3rd rounder.

Sure. Why wouldn't the Vikes let AP go to Dallas for a 3rd.

They so enjoyed the league making fun for 20 years about getting burnt in the Walker trade... they just can't wait to make a terrible trade again to help Dallas.

Naïve. Thanks for the laugh. You are good for something, thanks.

I'm not sure what to think about the fact that our QB was lobbying to resign Demarco and now our WR is making it known how good we would be if we had Peterson.

It would feel a little better if our stars believed we were good enough at RB that when asked about Peterson they would say that we have guys on the team now that are going to surprise some people.

Our owner mentions he would trade away a future number 1 for a player like Peterson.

I wish this was resolved already. It sounds like the talk will never stop. I can see after the first game if we don't come out with a big rushing day all the questions in the locker room being about Peterson again.

Dez has really grown up a lot. His answers to these questions were great. The "reporter" really baited him with some questions that coulda got Dez in some hot water, but he stopped and thought about every answer. Really great to see.

I have to wonder if the Herschel Walker trade never took place with the Vikes if they'd be more inclined to do it. I think that permanently scarred that franchise and city to no end. I doubt they want to be responsible for the Cowboys winning another Super Bowl (or two) again.

None of the people that made that trade are with the Franchise. They are long gone.

At what point do the Vikings stop having leverage? What I mean is, at what point does paying a 30 yr old RB $13+ million who doesn't want to be on your team become a bad idea?

What if Peterson plays without full effort? What if he becomes a distraction in the locker room? What if he under performs? What if he gets "hurt"?

Are the Vikings assuming that Peterson will sell out on the field and off it help them?

It seems to Peterson still has cards to play in his hand. At some point he just may not be worth it.

I think this is why some people still think he comes to Dallas.

I think the smarter play for the Vikes would have been to try and trade him for even a 2nd rounder and draft a RB.

Personally I dont think Peterson for $13 million is a smart deal even if he wants to play for you. I think the Vikes are letting pride get in the way of reason.
