Well, this is interesting if nothing else...

I suppose this may tie in with Jacksonville's nearly public declaration that they would like to trade out of the #10th spot if possible. And it would likely take both Bennett and Barber, plus our #27th pick in order for us to make it happen.

Jacksonville would be a prime candidate if they are interested in Barber...They already have MJD, but Barber could certainly be used as a closer and a situational back for them.

I think Jacksonville would also be very interested in Bennett, since they only have Mercedes Lewis and rookie Zach Miller. So this trade may make sense in a lot of ways; at least for them.

I'm not sure I would want to trade both Bennett and Barber, along with our #27th pick to move up to the 10th spot...unless Eric Berry was still available. I just don't know if any of the other players at positions of need would be worth taking that big of a gamble on.

Like him or not, Bennett has a HUGE amount of upside and potential...and it may be premature to give up on him so quickly. However, I do understand the reasons we would deal Barber in order to give our other two very capable, and well deserving RB's more carries though; so I do believe this scenario is a possibility.
Yeah, but this is where Barber's ridiculous contract comes into play. His yearly salaries only go up every year and the Jaguars already have so much invested in their backfield with Jones-Drew. Rashad Jennings also showed some promise last year and looks capable of backing up Jones-Drew for far less. I honestly don't view them as a realistic candidate unless Barber is willing to re-structure his contract to make it a lot more favorable for the Jaguars.

It just scares me.

1st we send Flo packing. And then we give up our best insurance policy for both of our tackles in Martellus Bennett?

And potential superstar doesn't entice me. I need to know what im getting.

Who is worth our 1st rounder and losing MB3 AND Marty B for? Nobody. Not 1 player.

Nail meet head. This draft is very deep. Why would we trade a 1st, 2nd and 5th to move up to 10 or 12? Suh or Berry seem like the only players worth moving up for and they're in the Top 5.

Surely more than a 5th. I would think at least a third. The ones that got traded for low picks were ones that had issues like Holmes and Marshall.

I can't see anyone giving up a 3rd round pick for Barber. The best the Cowboys would get is a 4th or 5th rounder. He's not a feature back and he's come up with nagging injuries the past 2 seasons. He's declined noticeably since 07 and backs are a dime a dozen out there. No team is going to give up much for a back who's had injuries and appears to be in decline.

True...that would definitely be a huge factor in the decision. Barber's base salary is only around $3mil this year though, but I believe he's also due a $4mil roster bonus this spring. All together that would be around $7mil...Still though, the trading team can re-work the numbers to extend those bonuses over a length of a given contract when a player is traded...so it's not out of the realm of possibility.

I personally don't understand the Bennett hype. I've never seen anything that special from him during the season....

You people that are blinded by Martellus' twitter posts seem to think I'm comparing him to Fasano as players straight up. You are missing the point - I'm comparing what they delivered relative to what the teams spent on them. Miami gave up roughly a 6th rounder for Fasano and has twice the production that our 2nd rounder that same year has.
.

Wrong again. The Dullphins gave up a 4th round draft choice, which happened to be the first pick in the 4th round, that eventually turned into Tashard Choice and Orlando Scandrick. Cowboys got two long term contributors, Dullphins got the help they needed at the time.

Now they're looking for somebody to take Fasano because he hasn't lost the same habit of dropping the ball that got him out of Dallas.

If we trade Marty B for a 2nd then thats a joke. Im sick and tired of this stupid TE carousel.

You know they wont be satisfied with John Phillips either. They will have to go out and spend ANOTHER high pick on a player.

You picked Bennett, he has shown talent, now stick to your guns and quit changing your mind every 2 seconds at that position PLEASE.

:hammer:

I wish people will get the hell over that he is not Witten. He's a different guy.

i forgot what joker told me Bennett wasn't worth a 2nd...

now this doesn't confirm that he is, but it sure doesn't hurt

yikes, a 2nd and a 5th sounds eerily close to what it would take to move up to 12...i havent checked the unofficial draft chart..but off the top of my head, it seems about right

it is going to take a big time player for me to be happy w trading Bennett away...not that anyone cares, just sayin lol

So what you are basically saying is Barber + Bennett + 27th pick to Miami for the 12th overall???

No way in hell I make that trade, way too much to give up. Good Lord, Parcells is going to rape us blind if we agree to this.

I would take a 3rd round for Barber and that would be end of disscussion unless the team that is trading to us trying to give us a higher pick for Barber, I wouldn't let him go if it is lower than a 3rd Round.

That's irrelevant, Austin's issues didn't involve acting 10 years younger than your age. I don't think that anyone ever looked at Austin and questioned his morals, work-ethic, or passion for the game.

Thats your problem, you are so focused on how you think he should act, when he isnt causing the team any trouble. Please get over it already

I sure wouldn't do that deal. I would do Barber, Bennett, and a second for that 12th pick.

He isn't exactly providing a whole lot either and many think it is because of his immaturity.

What good is a warm body?

Better yet, what good is a warm body that is doing nothing but squandering potential?

It might be a bit much, I can definitely see that..I don't agree that it is way too much..you know how much I want Choice to get more carries..I am just not comfortable parting with Bennett just yet..Again, it depends who is available at 12..I would definitely do it for Dez Bryant..trying to think if there is anyone else I would definitely do it for

So let me get this straight. We are going to trade Bennett, Barber, and the 27th pick to move up to 12 and take Dez Bryant???

This is after giving up a 1st, a 3rd, and a 7th for another WR.

And neither of these guys are actually our best WR???

Good Lord, this is getting worse by the minute. Can somebody explain to me why we have to blow premium picks, one right after another, on WRs when other teams like the Colts have Reggie Wayne and a bunch of nobodys and make it to the SuperBowl???

Bungles #54 for Bennett.

Do it Jerry!

Sign me up.

#21 would have been nice but I'll live with #54 for the guy.

They also have Peyton Manning. And I wouldn't call Pierre Garcon a nobody just yet. I don't consider the WR spot a need but if Dez Bryant somehow falls to us I don't think you can pass him up because at 27 he's clearly the best player left on the board. That's if you draft by the best player available.

I am not talking about passing him up at 27, the scenario being laid out in this thread is that we are going to trade Bennett, Barber, and the 27th pick to Miami for the 12th overall. Then, according to some posters, we should take Dez Bryant at #12.

I am asking why we have to spend 2 first round picks, a 3rd round pick, a 7th round pick, a former probowl RB, and a TE we drafted in the 2nd round for a pair of WRs (Roy Williams and Dez Bryant).......and neither of them are even out best WR (see Miles Austin)!!!!
