Did anyone else hear Adam S on NFLN tonight?

Like a bunch of 5 year olds arguing over a toy.
Norv can talk to anyone he wants as long as no one overhears him asking Rivera if he wants to be the DC of the Cowboys. END OF STORY.

there is nothing in the rule books stating 2 assistant coaches cant talk about anything they choose to talk about.

neither are employed by the cowboys, so how is it tampering?:lmao:

It's not if tampering if Turner asked Rivera to be his DC as long as Turner hasn't signed a contract with the Cowboys.

Ask Russ Grimm if an owner telling him he has the job is as good as a signed contract.

Why would JJ get into any trouble? He isn't Norv's boss and Norv isn't employed by the Dallas Cowboys. The OC for the 49ers went to talk to Ron Rivera (no one knows if it's even true or what they talked about even if it is true)... how can JJ get in trouble for that?

I understand that Norv doesn't presently work for Jerry -- however it is going to look very suspicious now if Norv gets hired and Rivera comes over as the DC. Jerry has likely already pissed the commish off -- the commish didn't want a coaching announcement before the SB so as not to take away from the game - so Jerry makes sure he's seen a few times with Norv -- all to keep the Cowboys in the news. If Norv is in fact working on putting together a staff before he was hired then the commish may use this as a reason to punish Jerry.

We don't know what they talked about - sure -- but there is no reason for them to be getting together - we can all pretend that isn't the case -- but it doesn't take much to connect the dots here.

So you know how the commish rolls now, gotcha.

Perhaps had you paid attention to his actions over the past year you'd know how he rolls too.

You sound like that little boy whos parents say "don't eat that cake" and he goes and eats all the frosting. The he says "but I didn't eat any of the cake" - technically correct but obviously not why the rule is in place.

Sure it will. But it still won't be tampering. And there'd still be nothing the Bears or the NFL can do about it.

Again, it clearly violates the spirit of the rule -- and frankly, if the commish wants to do something about it, you'd likely see many of the owners support it.

OK, it's tampering. Are you happy now? Hopefully, we have to send several draft picks to the Bears and the Niners.

The plus side will be that Jerry won't screw up as many draft picks.

If true, and if it ends up being Norv as HC and Rivera as DC, then I'd be pretty pissed if I was the Bears management.

whoopdee doo..... they have no reason to be pi$$3d......... Rivera's contract is up after the SB anyway..... If they are going to be upset about a meeting when neither one is employed by the cowboys then they should have locked up Rivera with a contract before now!

quoting Jimmah...... Duh.... umbbb!

Oh c'mon. If the facts were as I stated, then it would seem pretty clear that Norv was acting as an agent for Jerry. Jerry himself doesn't have to directly contact Rivera. And to be distracting the guy with that stuff before the Super Bowl? Please. They'd have plenty of reason to be upset.

You sure easied up on your stance over the balance of this thread. Since you've already deduced that Norv was acting as an agent for Jerry, I have the following question.
(These questions should look familiar to you)
1. What's the burden of proof in such a case against Jerry?
2. How is the case appealled?
3. Any idea?
4. Or is this all just speculation?
5. What's the evidentiary requirement to build the case that Jerry conspired to have Norv act as his agent?
6. Have you seen the arbitration agreements (assuming arbitration is the method for dispute resolution)?

Strawmen -- set 'em up and theogt will slay them down.

And just in case you were wondering,

Circumstantial evidence isn't sufficient? Do you have a citation for this statment? Any legal support for these statements? Or are you just guessing?

And remember, you are the one that stated the following

Where's the evidence?

Is this a joke?

I said that if Norv went to talk to Rivera about getting the DC job and it turns out that Norv is the HC and Rivera is the DC, then it seems pretty clear that he was acting as Jones's agent.

Was he acting as his agent? Heck if I know. Would it be tampering? Heck if I know.

Again, is this a joke? Or did you just completely misunderstand everything in this thread?

Actually the Bears hold negotiation rights (as DC) to Rivera until Feb. 20th.

If, if, if. This is hilarious. People looking to be employed by the NFL, columnist wannabes, or just trying to ensure that Rivera doesn't get the job?

Answer this: where is the Bears' press conference to protest their outrage? The sabre-rattling? Comments from the league office? That would be doing your due diligence instead of floating all this speculation, like some B-league sports desk.

Small wonder the media outlets have the M.O. that they do. Some people just run wild with whatever story gets trotted out there.

:lmao2:

OH NOES!!!! Someone speculated on an internet message board!!! Stop the madness!!!

Speculation (throwing around "ifs") is what we do here.

It's pretty clear that they're willing to let him go to another team. That was never in question.

However, it would be pretty distracting to have have to be thinking a day or so before the Super Bowl about preparing to interview with another team.

and they didn't but still have his rights until 2/20.

Why would Rivera make a lateral move? And why would Chicago let him? I don't see him coming here for anything other than HC.

Because Rivera wants out of the shadow of Lovie Smith, and call his OWN defense.
