Did You Have a Favorite Cowboy Who Wasn't a Star?

Issaic Holt, although for me he was a star. Fishback and Patterson.

Preston Pearson, and I'm really hoping that Felix Jones can take up where he left off....

Jim Jeffcoat
Ken Norton
Robert Jones
Tony Casillas
Kevin Smith
Thomas Everett
James Washington
Issiac Holt
Ray Horton
Kelvin Martin
Alfredo Roberts
Mark Stepnoski
Kevin Gogan

Alvin Harper. He could have been a great WR if he choose to stay at Dallas.

Along with names already mentioned I'd add Butch Johnson.

There we go, wondered if I was going to see his name. I can remember as a kid playing football and imitating his end zone celebration shooting off my guns.

Another one of my faves (because I went to the same high school) that never became a star was WR Doug Donley. He played RB for our high school and was converted to WR when he went off to Ohio State and is still one of the best WR's in Buckeye history. I recently bought one of his autograph pictures and have it displayed in my office.

Lynn Scott......the boy had heart if nothing else

I hated this guy. He was awful.

Mine would probably be Dat... Scott Fujita made some nice plays for us... anybody remember that fumble he caused on Trent Green vs. KC in 05 that gave Marcus Spears that huge run-back and basically saved the season to that point?

I always liked Randall Williams, even if he didn't contribute much of anything... maybe for his onside runback more than anything. My fave is probably the cliche Bill Bates, but gotta give props to Dave LaFleur, if for no other reason than because I'm probably the only sucker that still goes to Cowboys games with his No. 89 jersey.

Dat and Coakley - lead me to believe the little guy could make it in the NFL

on the team now im lovin me some Deon "Cricket" Anderson.

Dat...

cuz we share the same last name, like 1 million other Nguyens out there. lol

no, but dat, he was definitely something special.

#23 James Jones
Average running back. Tried hard but just could not stay healthy.

If I remember right, he threw two TD passes to Danny White.
One in the 1983 game against the Raiders game Dallas lost (can you say Marc Wilson:() and one in the Browns game in 1985 which Dallas won.:)

Remember the shoestring tackle he made to preserve the shutout against the Rams in the '78 NFCC?

I liked Randy Hughes a lot. He was always making plays. Preston Pearson was my first choice though. So many big plays in clutch situations.

i always cling to FS's and SS's

Another unsung hero. Could have been the MVP of that second Buffalo SB.

They use to call James Washingtonn "Drive-By". Boy, was he a Hitter and Baller! What a great FS!

Thomas Everett was another great one!

Erik Williams. Used to love to watch big E beat people up. I loved it when Reggie White was asked who he dreaded playing the most. His answer was big E because when you played against him, you felt it for days...

Have to throw in George Teague defending our Star too!

We all usually love the star players. But did you ever really love a player for the Cowboys who was just a guy on the team with no hope of a long career? If so, who was it and try and explain why you liked that player so much.

For me it would be TE Mike Lucky. 4 years a Cowboy, only played 3. 19 career receptions for only 143 yards and 1 score. He was really a blocking TE much more than a receiving threat.

Why did I like him? I knew him from the University of Arizona. Just a really cool guy who wanted to coach High School football one day and I think he is doing that in California. I occasionally got some good inside info from him. One story in particular was really eye opening.
