We'd be stupid not to bring him in. He has shown that he can be elite in the right scheme, he's young. Who would you rather have back up Tony? A 3rd string career backup who fits this offense? That may be true or it may not be true. I think I tend to agree with a few of the other posters. For RG3, the right scheme has put him on the shelf a few times. The right scheme for him is not necessarily a scheme that works in the NFL. He doesn't fit what we do on Offense IMO. If you brought him in to back up Tony, you probably have to change the offense to suit him. That means everybody is effected. I don't know that he is the best option for us.

Griffin has been washed up since his second year in the league. Bringing him in solves nothing and wastes money. This would be one of the dumbest Jerry decisions ever if they bring him in. Draft one of the top quarterbacks and let him learn behind Romo for a couple of years.

He was only good when he had wheels. The run threat is necessary for him...or he is not NFL caliber. Period.

And his wheels are now even less reliable than Tony's clavicle.

He simply isn't a run threat anymore. There's nothing to see there.

You will not find a capable QB who can run the offense at a high level the way it is built. Nobody can just step in and do what Tony does because he runs the offense, the entire thing. It's not the scheme, it's the calls he makes, the coverages he sees, the audibles he makes, all that is him. You can't find a QB no matter how good he is in the pocket, that can mimic that. So I rather have a QB who can be great at something different, instead of these garbage pocket passers. At least with RG3 you have a chance to win games and you have a chance to possibly go very far if he feels comfortable in the offense. You don't have that with anybody else, any of those pocket passer options that "fit this offense".

He got them to the playoffs even though they lacked talent. How is that not elite? Was he the best QB in the league that year? No. Was he among the best QBs, of course. Why are you arguing this?

I just don't have a strong opinion either way about what we should do. If we grab the 2nd best QB at 4 - fine. If we draft somebody else, I will believe they are the best player available and will immediately help us - fine. If we move down and maybe get Elliott with another late first or early second - fine.

I simply cannot get behind one plan at this point.

Didn't forget that at all. He could get away with his limitations when he threatened defenses with his legs. But that was always a short-lived threat as almost no quarterbacks (and certainly not skinny ones like him) can take repeated big time NFL hits.

How about we just bring back the Manster, Bob Lilly, Chuck Howley, Bob Hayes, Too Tall, Harvey Martin, and Roger Staubach?

The idea is that RGIII can possibly solidify the QB position in the short term---Romo-RGIII-Moore.

Down the road, we are more likely to draft and develop a QB or sign another free agent to start. Maybe, because he is young and talented, maybe RGIII develops into a serviceable starter for a time, but if he never starts for Dallas, signing him at the right price as a backup is not a bad move.
