No, but you do gain postseason momentum
If you make the postseason.

If the theory is correct, then it should matter more even for teams who don't make the postseason, no?

Even if I accept the theory is true for teams that make the postseason, there's no way to quantify that is there?

And people complain about the soft mentality of our players. This takes the cake.

Assuming I agree with the premise that our players are soft mentally, why would you expect me to believe in them?

Particularly over the course of an entire season?

I wouldn't describe my opinion as soft, just pragmatic.

and what the **** is Felix Jones who gets hurt every game?
He's certainly not a scat back. Of course, I never said he was a power back either. I just said he had power when he runs. His legs drive hard and it's difficult to take him down.

Kinda like the Cardinals going 2-4 in the last six regular season games last year.

Ogt when you going to figure in the games Romo will be injured into your 11-5 prediction? I mean you want to say that this is this teams record when Romo is healthy so we can extrapolate that out for the rest of the season, shouldnt you also include the extrapolations of the games Romo will be hurt in?

Perhaps I could. But I don't think it's "likely" he'll suffer a debilitating injury over a 16 game season. It's certainly possible. But I wouldn't claim that it's likely.

If you are so much smarter than the rest of us Bach (or anyone else telling me this team is doomed) show me how smart you are. After 5 weeks name all 12 playoff teams. Dallas has to be excluded. You've already made this clear. They won't go. Forgone conclusion. There's no brilliance needed to say that and "I hope I am wrong" at the same time.

Smart doesn't equal clarivoyance. And, where did I say Dallas definitely won't go? I said it's possible but not probable.

If Dallas makes the playoffs this year all of you pronouncing it as impossible will refuse to eat crow or admit you were wrong. You'll hide behind the same tired mantras or shift the focus to some other gaslight tactic.

Again, where did I say it was impossible. I swear there's so many threads where you clearly act like you have zero reading comprehension. I can't believe that's really the case. it must be some kind of game you play, or at least I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you are just "playing".

Even if you could name all 12 playoffs teams you know as well as I do it is pure stupid luck. You couldn't do it more than once if I gave you 10 seasons worth of options to look at without painfully studying every single season and trying to match the circumstances to the season.

Therefore there's no real intelligence to the tactic is there?

I am waiting to see this football IQ in action that the naysayers are thumping their chest about. I'll never see it. Putting an actual prediction out there where it could end up ridiculed would require guts. It therefore won't happen.

But the challenge is there.

WTH are you talking about? :laugh2: :laugh2:

You're the only one who wants people to pick the 12 teams. And you said yourself if anyone did get it right you'd deem it as pure stupid luck. So what is the point again?

what was more important at the time the 1st Commanders game in september or the Philly game in december last season?
Ummm, in hindsight had either of them been a win, we would have made the playoffs. So they seem equally important to me.

If it makes you feel better, the Giants where pretty much in this position two seasons ago. Coughlin was on the verge of getting fired and their team was on the verge of falling of the map, but the Giants had a come from behind victory over the Jets that pretty much sparked their rejuvenation and propelled them throughout the remainder of the season on the way to a SB victory. Todays win wasn't pretty but it could be the season-changing victory that really brings everything together.

Look, I want this to be true. I want us to get better and make the playoffs. Today's dramatic OT win and Austin's amazing performance could be just what this team needs. It's plausible. And, yes, the Giants did do that.

But I'll make the same point that I made elsewhere regarding that Giants season: the reason we all remember this is because it was so unusual. We're showing no signs of being like that Giants team.

I'll believe in this Cowboy comeback when I see it. Until then, this team is mediocre.

This is exactly my problem with the naysayers Bach. You've got nothing, yet act like you are so much more informed than me.

Do you think the team would have literally given up after this game had they lost?

If you think that the players are mentally soft... then what does that say about you?

I said "at the time" ok? I didn't hear the "win and we're in" about the skins game in week 4. but I did hear it in week 17.

I think when you're actually playing a game, it's the most important game.

If you asked when we were playing the Commanders game -- is this game more important than the last game of the season? Very obviously the team would have said the Commanders game was more important.
