92 tackles 2 INT's 15 games played taken out in passing situations.

I don't think his play is detirating it is the lack of the big hit and the bone jarring tackles that people miss.

Playing one on one with a TE split out is hard to do don't believe ask champ while Clark was smoking him.

There's two major difference from the previous roy and this roy. The big hits aren't there anymore and him giving up the big pass plays aren't there anymore. I do not believe he is at fault when our LB's don't get big deep enough in coverage(James).

I like that someone pointed out the Hamlin isn't as good of a tacklers as RW is seeing how the idea of moving Hamlin 2 SS is something people continue to suggest. You want to upgrade not downgrade.

Ahhh why did i bring RW stats in to this argument that don't matter for DB's i forgot.

*duck*

I think Wade's Defense has a place for players who perform well, I'm a Roy fan but I can't really defend him in this instances. But during training camp he will have several time to hang with his players.

but Roy used to make big plays. whether it would be a big 3rd down tackle or a big hit to fire up the defense or an interception when it mattered(unlike his 2 garbage time picks last season). he didn't do that last year.

I think the tackle numbers are ridiculous from the standpoint that each time Roy was covering a guy that caught the ball and then fell down and Roy touched him he got credit for a tackle. Big Deal!

Does anybody have the the Thrown To; Caught; YAC; Passes defensed stats on Roy? Not sure where to find those.

I mean do we really want to give someone credit for making a "tackle" when the guy they were covering got the first down right in front of them and you tag them or push them out of bounds? To me that is the difference. In the early days, the majority of the "tackles" Williams got credit for were impact plays, either punishing hits, tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage, etc. That is what has changed.

One issue that RW may have in Wade's defense is that he's no longer a 3 down player (i.e., out on passing downs). Maybe he feels slighted?

If you rtfa, he made the comment initially before he ever played a down of football for Wade Phillips.

Why would Eliss even bring up something that is a year old? Roy may no longer feel this way and yet people will jump on it as if he said it yesterday

someone needs to have a conversation with Roy

It won't do any good - he already cashed the signing bonus check for his second contract. There is no need for him to exert himself anymore.

You gotta kinda be careful about these kinds of stories. You dont' know what all was asked or in what context. I mean, it might be just like it reads but lots of times, other things were asked and the context is all wrong once it gets to the actual article. I take it all with a grain of salt. My opinion on RLWs has not changed from any of the articles I've read. I pretty much base it on what I see on the field.

If I didn't like how he was playing before, this article is not going to change my opinion. If I loved the the guy before, this article will not change my opinion.

I hope Roy comes to camp and just plays lights out. I hope he plays better then I have ever seen him play. I guess we will see.

I agree with what you said and I also agree Roy had a poor year and needs to step it up, I just dont see what advantage it was for Ellis to even mention something that was said to him a year ago and likely in confidence, just seems wrong to me.

I don't know why Ellis felt the need to report this

things like these should be kept in-house, unless that person wants to speak out for himself

I'm not sure about Roy Williams. It seems to me that the passing game has continued to evolve since Roy entered the league and the idea of a "strong" safety has less meaning than it did in the recent past. Greater emphasis on the passing game has clearly made the idea of a "box" safety less relevant as well (although diminished, the "box" safety role is still around). All of that being said, I do not believe Roy was the weak link when he was sharing duties with Reeves and Jones. We'll see what happens.

We can't get rid of this guy soon enough.......

1st page!

3rd page!

I'm not reading 90 overreactions about Greg "whiner" Ellis's recollections of something Roy Williams might have said almost a year ago by people who didn't read much more than the title.

Can we not trade him??/?????---I know this if i sucked that bad at my job i would be gone long time ago.

Highly disappointing. I was promised 15 pages, and am only on page 3.

No worries. Some of us, like myself, are just late to the party. ;)

You can set the number of posts the board shows to a lower number, I'm on page 7 over here, half way there.
