DMN Blog: Owens missing practice again

This is getting quite amusing.

The season is barely one week into preseason.

We are now reserved to writing Owens off for the year, wishing for "gravy" and trading for another high-priced WR .

Okay, I'll play.

Push Owens aside. He's "gravy".

What next?

Moving on however we can. We really don't have a choice in the matter.

It takes him two weeks and counting to come back from a muscle tweak. He refuses to practice at less than 100%, but when is a 33 year old player ever at 100%? Do you think a 33 year old player is going to get less dinged up and hurt as a 16 game season wears on and the speed, intensity and hitting of the game picks up.

I've failed miserably Hos. I tried. Oh boy, did I try.

Much to Much is being made of this. Sure everyone wants to see T.O. out there. But being ready for Jacksonville is the MOST IMPORTANT thing.

I have no doubts he will be ready. T.O. is not a rookie trying to find his way in this league. He is a legitimate Playmaker who just may be the best receiver in the NFL. How much time do you actually think ne needs? Not much.

Even Bledsoe himself said all he needs is about 2 weeks before the season starts to be ready to go and have his timing down with his receivers.

If this was any other STAR player in the NFL taking his time to come back and make sure he is 100% in Pre-Season and Training Camp no one would care.

Make to mistake T.O. wants to let the whole world know he is the best, and no question he wants to rip the NFL up this year.

Week 1 he will be ready, no question. So just relax folks. This is really not that big of a deal.

It has just become one because it is T.O.

I don't care how good he is, if Bledsoe does not trust him to be where he thinks he is going to be, he will not throw him the ball.

He will not have the year he could have if he does not start practicing soon.

I don't think he does know this. In his little mind, he's always gotten what he wanted.

He wanted out of San Fran and got it.

He wanted to go to Philly instead of Baltimore and he got it.

He wanted to get more money at Philly and now he's got it.

Just like on his little rap video about "To those who said I wouldn't get my money, now I got (whatever amount of money), ha ha, that's funny."

Did you catch on one of his recent interviews (who can keep up with them all?) where he was asked if Dallas was his last stop, and he said, "I can't say that."?

Good point. That is why I think he must be mental. Talented, but mental. I would also like to add that Dallas does not have to be his last stop. If he can show the NFL he can behave an just play football. (See Keyshawn Johnson)

The "chemistry" with Bledsoe is the least of my concerns, although it is a legitimate concern. My problem is that he doesn't know this offense. Again, Philly and SF used him all over the field in order to work mismatches. That requires knowing multiple positions. We'll be lucky if he knows one position in this offense. There are likely entire sections of the offense that the Cowboys have sketched up in the offseason that are in danger of being scraped and never implemented. Once camp breaks, implementation time is over. Its time to start getting ready for Jacksonville.

Yep, it is silly. Much to much is being made of this, and only because it is T.O.

If this was Marvin Harrison, or L.T., not only would no one care but all of the media would be clammering they better not rush them back to soon.

It is funny how the local and national media always bark at Parcells for rushing players back to soon, and when the most explosive player on this team is being cautious there is a problem as well.

Yes "old" indeed...but...I'm proud of myself for staying calm cool and collected. :D

If it wasn't TO, hypothetical player with no MRI evidence of an injury and running routes full speed after skipping practice would have been out on the field weeks ago or released. Its only because its potentially volatile situation that Parcells hasn't put his foot up his rear by now. He's being treated with kid gloves.

Even better.

Now his body is breaking down!

TO is being treated with kid gloves.

:hammer:

I still haven't said a word.:D

Steve Smith is still sitting out of Carolina's practices with a hamstring injury, as he has been much of camp.

I know its hard to fathom considering ....

a) He's 33 years old

b) He barely made it through a week of camp without suffering a 3 week muscle tweak.

.. .but give it some consideration.

Whether or not Steve Smith knows the Carolina O is not suspect either. There is a difference.

Sorry Champ. For me, only because it is the Dallas Cowboys and to a degree Bill Parcells. That's not coming with a drama filled, sad music tear in my eye either. Fact.

Also consider he is very much as you said a prima donna. And also one of the finer conditioned athletes in the sport. I would be more apt to act because of his mental instability than I would out of fear of his body breaking down.

I dont buy the kid gloves theory at all. T.O. is a STAR player, and Star players are treated differently in this league. They are protected differently. Maybe it has been so long since we had one people dont remember that. We are not talking about Jamica Rector here trying to win a roster spot, and we are not talking about regular season games being missed.

Dallas wants to make a run at the title, and both JJ and Parcells know T.O. is a big key at that run.

Now if you can tell me the medical staff has cleared him and told Parcells he is ready to go, then I think you might have something.

But there is no reason to rush your meal ticket and $25 Million investment on the field to risk his hamstring being a problem all year long.

Now we have resorted to saying he is older than he actually is, and saying he hsa been gone longer than e has now?

Agreed, but the option is there, at age 32.

The body is a fickle thing. At some point, no matter how hard you strive, it can't do what it once could.

I'm not hopping on any TO is done here bandwagon, I'm just annoyed that this guy isn't out there. Just annoyed.
