Yep, it is silly. Much to much is being made of this, and only because it is T.O.

If this was Marvin Harrison, or L.T., not only would no one care but all of the media would be clammering they better not rush them back to soon.

It is funny how the local and national media always bark at Parcells for rushing players back to soon, and when the most explosive player on this team is being cautious there is a problem as well.
What is the bigger deal anyway?

1. TO is not practicing...

...or...

2. The media is all over the fact that 1 player is not practicing?

Possible trade brewing???

Suckers!

Well, while you're here, you might as well know that the Cowboys will do that "scout swap" thing any day now. Parcells will invite a few members from another club's scouting department to practice this week while Cowboys chief scout Jeff Ireland and the boys head off to another location.

I'm not certain of this, but I think you'll see the Patriots' scouts blow through here in the next couple of days. If you are going to let another team's scouts into your camp, it better be someone you trust and someone you don't play this year. The Patriots fit that description.

Now, the Patriots aren't exactly loaded at receiver, but they do have a disgruntled player by the name of Deion Branch. Just throwing it out there.

Roshi, I respect your opinion, always have but come on.

First I have not seen anything substancial to why he was yelling at Glenn, but I will take your word for it.

Second it is blisters. It is not anything that could linger and be a problem all year, it is just pain threshold. It is not an injury. Not close to the same thing, if that is what he was yelling about.

Ripping at open wounds in your feet could make it worse. But that is just my uninformed opinion.

I can guarantee you the players are worried about themselves and the coaches are worried about the players who are on the field.

T.O. Watch: Grueling work continues

Terrell Owens continues to do more grueling work, including running with resistance bands, with assistant trainer Britt Brown during practice. After practice, assistant coach Todd Haley threw Owens and rookie Sam Hurd passes for about 10 minutes before they continued to practice on their own for another 20 minutes

Just because T.O. isn't on the field doesn't mean he's not studying the playbook.

Sure, it would nice to have him out there practicing the routes, but the guy has been in the league for 10 years and is probably the most talented receiver in the league- how much time does he really need? He's not a rookie who needs weeks of practice to get it under his belt.

In the immortal words of Allen Iverson, "what we talkin' bout here man? we talkin bout practice.." - It'd be nice to have T.O. out there, but if he's ready for week one that's all Bob Dole cares about.

Studying the playbook does not equal timing and cohesion which only comes from playing together. That is also true for the best WR to ever play the game as well. :D

Why can't this whole issue be taken at face value? TO practices 100% full out. That's a given. He is not 100% yet. If he returns to practice at less than 100% he risks further injury because he can't practice any other way. So there are two choices. Make him come back early or wait until he's ready. You make him come back before he's comfortable and you are risking losing him for real games. There is nothing sinister here. Time to move on.

Nice post.

It could use a little more falling sky, but hey - something to strive for.

First it was Flozell, he was fat and lazy, even though he was training as best he could, rehabbing along the way. Now a player who has absolutely zero question marks when it comes to commitment to the game, and they jerk off on a statement from Jerry (that they misinterpreted) and ignore that he is actually working out there.

Short answer? *** em.

Seriously. Everyone just needs to calm down and stop
feeding into the media frenzy.

For those out there who have nevered pulled a hamstring, their are two basic things that you can do: Make the injury worse by running on it too soon when it isn't fully healed, or be patient and cautious until it heels right. There really isn't much treatment that you can give a hamstring other than time and plenty of stretching. When I ran track and pulled my hammy, the most I could do was stretch, stretch some more, and then light jogging after another session of stretching. After the hammy was warmed up, my coach had me do a few 60 meter sprints (at full speed) to keep it loose, and then stretch some more. That's it. I wasn't allowed to run the 100, 4x100, and 200 with the rest of the sprinters because I would run the risk of making it worse. This went on for almost three weeks. From what I am hearing, Owens is under pretty much the same agenda...stretching, followed by long sessions of riding the bike, then a few full speed routes to keep it loose. Doing any more than that brings along the risk of making it worse.
So which would you have Owens do:

A) Return to practice just to prove to you that he is "Cowboy worthy" and risk making the injury worsen and linger throughout the entire season, and possibly miss real games when we are already thin at WR.

B) Take whatever preaseason time we can afford to get that hammy right before the season starts, so that he will have a lesser chance of injuring it again this season.

I think I would go with B...

Also, Owens is not a rookie. He doesn't need to be babied into how to read a playbook and run routes. He has great football knowledge and probably knows exactly where he needs to be without actually running the routes on the field. Now, he will need some time with Bledsoe to get the QB/WR timing down, but both guys are veterans and shouldn't take long to get on the same page.

T.O. Watch: Malingering continues

By JEAN-JACQUES TAYLOR / The Dallas Morning News

Terrell Owens continues to show his cancerous nature. After getting into a shouting match with head coach Bill Parcells in which he insulted his mother, he was maced, forcibly subdued and forced to do exercises, including light running with resistance bands with assistant trainer Britt Brown, who kept a steady barrage of whips on the mercurial wide receiver for the duration of the exercize. After practice, assistant coach Todd Haley got into the act after suffering a verbal tirade from Owens. Cooler heads prevailed however and after promising Owens an eight figure bonus to just "play catch", he threw Owens and rookie Sam Hurd passes for about 10 minutes. Following this session, Owens continued the young Hurd's demonic education for another 20 minutes.

:lmao2:
Did anyone punch Todd? If not, the intensity level could use some work.

Those resistance bands.....boy they'll get ya familiar with an offense and Qb. Can ya do that with a sore "hammy"? I mean, RUN and all?

Thanks for helping out Hurd. Now, it's those pesky 52 other guys who could use some respect.

PS. thanks for sharing WG.

So, he's disrespecting his teammates by rehabbing through a grueling workout.

Hey its preseason. Get it healed up before he comes back....

I said nothing during 1 week of the bike tour but we are talking soreness nothing more than that. He is getting damn good money and should be expected to practice like any other player. Others on this team are expected to suck it up and work and TO should be no different. Enough with the excuses for him Dallas has made the financial commitment to him and this team deserves a commitment from him

Sure. But what good does that financial commitment do if we can't get our money's worth during the season because we were stupid and rushed him back in the preseason? Not much - it's a much bigger waste.

I see an awful lot of "doctors" saying he should suck it up and get out there, while having minimal knowledge of the situation. Some guy psoted a blurb about Canoe's injury for the Yankees.

In any case, we have a nationally televised game coming up. I really don't think TO wants to miss this, for ANY reason. ;)

Let's try a different hypothetical -- if TO had signed with the Commanders instead of the Cowboys, how would we be reacting? Would we not be pointing out TO's history? Would we not be making fun of Danny-O for getting played?
