It would have to do a lot with free agency as well. If Dallas does in fact make a move for a player such as Johnny Manziel, they would probably be more willing to trade back a few slots...maybe even pick up a 1st for 2017 in the process.

Draft is all speculation at this point. Stinks, we have two games to go and draft talk is the most interesting talk about this team.

If the top of the draft class is that weak, why on Earth would anyone pay to trade up?

didn't Payton leave before Romo was the starter? He was still developing wirhout Payton. But it sure wasn't Wilson. Didn't Garrett come in and helped with QB's when he was the OC/
I can't recall the timelines right now.

Yes Payton left before Romo was the starter but it was before he was the starter that Payton worked with him.

I find it hilarious that just about everyone, especially those that want to take a different route in the draft than the route being suggested find that said QB class, or said RB class, or whatever class is weak. That's always the narrative. "That class is weak this year, we'd be stupid to draft that position."

Fact is, nobody knows. I rarely agree with Goose, but he's right. It's time to get dynamic with catalytic players at the major skills positions. QB, RB, WR.

The new narrative is dont waste a 1st round pick on a RB because you can get what you need in the later rounds. People accept it as if its true.

We heard all off season how bringing Murray back wasnt necessary and we'd be just fine pluggin and playin any ole RB behind this OL. Even to the point of we'll be fine with a 5th round knucklehead underwear bandit who wouldnt leave so much meat on the bone.

If a guy is true difference maker at RB he is well worth a high 1st round pick. We might find our next #22.

A rarity, extreme rarity...I agree with Gosselin....
Actually I think he agrees with me, he must read my posts....

How long and how many times have I said we need to go with the first 2 picks, QB / RB or RB / QB...depending on where he pick at. He got his idea from me...

Lynch or Goff in 1st, Henry in 2nd if we get a top 7 pick.
If middle of the 1st round, Elliot 1st, Wentz in 2nd, or Hackenberg. But they could go with cook in mid 1st round.

Other than Bosa or Ramsey with our 1st round pick, is in top 5. what player would truly come in and be an impact day one. If a player is going to develop, let that be a QB behind one of the best QB's in the NFL.
If we resign Hardy, we wouldn't really need Bosa. But I wouldn't complain.

Sounds already like draft day around here is going to be insane. It seems everybody has really strong and opposite ideas of what to do.

we need a RB. This team is built for a strong rb with the o-line
Zeke in first. if we reach a little who cares. You dont get points for drafting to the board and he wont be there in the 2nd. We missed on getting Gurley this year to a team that reached and it was a good move.
can someone tell me why we wouldnt take him?

Nobody said the draft class is that weak, it could be weak on quarterbacks but deep at OL (a position we don't need.)

I am not saying it is weak at all---I don't study the draft enough to know. I don't see a "can't miss " QB prospect emerging yet....but it can and I am all for the Cowboys taking a QB if it is the right player at the right pick.

Going into a draft with a position in mind is the wrong way to go about it. We need to take the best play maker available in the first 3 rounds, regardless of their position. I don't care if we draft a QB, a RB, WR, CB, SS, etc, just get the best player.

Oh yes, there will be an extreme wide range of opinions come draft day.
And some will be changed depending on FA's signed and lost.

At least it could be interesting. As no one way to draft would really be wrong. QB, Defesne, WR, RB.
Even when to draft a TE...

If there isn't a QB or RB worth a top 5 pick, don't force it.

Get the best impact player when you are that high, whether it be offense or defense.

Andrew Billings is a Suh-type player. He would instantly make our defensive line dominant.

Four months ago we thought the same thing about Hardy.

We're more than a DL away from being dominant.

Do you think Henry lasts until second round?

They need playmakers! Period. The defense would get gassed game after game because we couldn't score. If they go defense I'll be disappointed.

QB, RB, WR, DT, LB, SS, CB should be priorities. It's up to the FO to assign them levels of importance and position themselves accordingly.

David lee was the QB coach when Romo was sitting on the bench. Romo loved the guy and credits him with his development. Is now a head coach at some college I heard a while back. Wilson to me is an old dinosaur that needs to go ...

I wouldve used a top 5 pick on Todd gurley . It just depends who's out there. I think we have a decent shot at Henry in the 2nd though. I would take best def player in 1st. RB 2nd round and QB 3rd round .
No way I would use a top 5 pick on a RB. That's insane. And this crop of QB's isn't elite. Epic fail by Goose on this one

NO RB is worthy of a top 5 pick. NONE.
Barry Sanders won 0 Super Bowls.
APeterson has won 0 Super Bowls.
LaDainian Tomlinson 0 Super Bowls.

If you can not pass the ball on 3rd down you can't compete. Period.
So you gotta pass block, we can. Get open, Dez and Beas with a nod to Witten if it is 7 yards or less; NO one else can. And throw... Romo can, Moore can but to both teams, the rest can't.

That's where you look at offensive Playmaker: QB, WR, stud pass catching TE.

The Cowboys have the 8th highest yardage rusher for 2015 in the NFL in McFadden. He'd almost certainly be top 5 had Randle not gotten first shot as starter. RB needs is minimal at best. A younger guy to groom.

Would you trade a top 5 pick for ANY RB in this league? The only debatable option is Todd Gurley and the guy has ONE 100 yard rushing game the last 7 weeks. McFadden has had 4.

But would I trade a top 5 pick for OBJ? Yes. Mariotta? Yes. Jameis? Yes. DeAndre Hopkins/Antonio Brown/AJ Green/Julio Jones? Yes to all.
