So sad really the guy has talent if he ever puts his head on right. If we do land him I hope that all the latest Cleveland antics were just a way of him getting out of Cleveland.

He does not take it seriously. Considering he went to rehab for drinking and yet is still drinking I don't have much faith in him. The position requires true leadership and a franchise like Dallas the pressure is even greater. If Dallas is wise they stay as far away from Manziel as possible.

so you dont think he may be doing all that to get out of cleveland ??
I think maybe it is all just to get out of there.
But at same time I would rather get someone bigger as qb.

The mentality of trying to give him the benefit of the doubt when he's clearly got a serious addict problem is something else I can't understand. Why people keep coming up with excuses for him (not saying you are) is beyond me.

That's like saying he shows up to team meetings drunk, parties using alcohol when he's supposed to be rehabbing, misses doctor appointments and flies cross country to party on game day...all in order to get cut in a league that is so cut throat, what an immense risk!

Anyone who would be willing to take that chance is beyond stupid and is not of the mental make up needed to be a backup QB in today's NFL.

I don't trust him either however I am a type that likes to give 2nd and 3rd chances. Sometimes a change of scenery or the fact in his case that this would be his last NFL job if he screws up might just flip that switch in his head. If not he can go flip burgers the rest of his life. How many kids would give their life to have his skill set and a chance to make it to the NFL.

Had the highest QBR in 2014, most 4th qtr wins since 2006, I believe he's the 4th highest all-time in td/interception ratio. What has RG3 done? He can't even read a defense.

They both haven't done anything. All you can say about Romo is he puts up pretty stats. Yay.

Atleast RG3 is younger, a year off, and more athletic.

He can't do no worse than Romo. If we pick him up, by week 2 of training camp Romo will be carrying his bags.

Dallas has given enough people 2nd and 3rd chances, I'm really more interested in guys who want to come in work hard and win football games. We don't have the time in my view to keep playing these baby sitting games with spoiled idiots.

If I had a choice between RG3 and Manziel I would pick RG3. I still think he can play and he just didn't lose his ability overnight, Washington is just not the right place for him in the end.

Only because by week 2, RG3 would be broken in half again and Romo is a nice guy to help him get around. If you don't like Romo, fine but dude, RG3 or JFF are both worthless QB and in JFF case, worthless human being. I would be disgusted if either of them step foot in Dallas as a Cowboy.

I understand many here still believe Romo is that guy. I get it. I use to be one of those guys.

RG3 is our best play right now. Washington ruined him. Like dude above said. He didn't lose his ability over night.

Romo is 35, with the same injuries, and no super bowls.

He's not Brady

Washington didn't ruin him. He is a gimmick QB and was only good in a gimmicky offense. He can't read a Defense, he can't be a pocket passer and he can't run without getting injured.. he is a waste of space on a football team. Like i said, if you want to dislike Romo, fine, but at least replace him with a half way decent football player nto some bum like RG3. I would take Weeden back before i would even consider that lost cause.

Hyperbole central around here.

NOpe, that's 100 % true. For me. Of course, I think RG3 is a waste of a football player along with JFF, so anyone, including weeden to me would be better. And I HATE Weeden.

This QB class feels more like people are trying to talk themselves into taking these guys instead of just doing it.

I agree with you. Mike Shanahan is one of the better QB coaches in the league, and basically he was willing to get fired rather than have to play RG3. Gruden, a first time HC working for a hands-on owner like Danny also risked his very young career by benching him because he knew he had no shot of winning with the guy. And Gruden has done a great job getting the most out of Cousins this season to boot.

RG3 had his one season in that gimmick offense. That offense will never be here with Garrett around and Griffin can't do any of the things necessary to succeed in anything else - and in fact has shown resistance to learning those things.

I would almost rather have Manziel because at least that would be entertaining in a "I wonder how this is going to completely explode at the end" kind of way.

Columnist Rick Gosselin recently held a chat to talk all things D-FW sports. Here are some highlights:

Question: Speculation on Manziel is heating up. What's the most you'd give up for him - or would you not even want him on this team at any cost? And if he's not a fit here with Garret, could a different coach make it work (Parcells-ish?).

Gosselin: I'd be surprised if Jones doesn't pick up the phone and inquire about Manziel. I'd also be surprised if he doesn't investigate RG III in free agency. Jerry is all about the marquee and those are two pretty big names to put on the marquee. Both would be popular moves in these parts. Bringing in either one of them would reduce the pressure to draft a quarterback in the first round. If I'm the Browns, I ask Jerry for a 2. I wasted a 1 on him, so I'd want to recoup as much of my investment as possible. The asking price would initially be high to save face. I'd ask for a 2 because with the way Jerry has yearned for him over the years, he might give me a 2.

Question: Has Wade Wison done anything other than collect a paycheck since he's been in Dallas?

Gosselin: The whole QB think tank -- Garrett, Linehan and Wade Wilson -- deserves its of the blame for the disaster that was the backup QB situation this season. How can three guys with a history at the position be so wrong in the evaluation and development of players at that position?

Question: Goose, it seemed that the Cowboys had a lack of chemistry issue this past season. Your thoughts!!!

Gosselin: Lack of chemistry, lack of talent, lack of luck, lack of coaching...lack of lots of things. When a team loses, its flaws are magnified. When a team wins, its flaws are hidden. Lots of magnification this season.

Question: Goose - I cannot recall a time when the Cowboys' coaching staff had a chance to coach the Senior Bowl. How important and influential is this with respect to the 2016 draft getting to work up close with the future NFL players?

Gosselin: If I owned an NFL team, I'd volunteer my coaching staff for the Senior Bowl every time I didn't make the playoffs. You see work ethic and intelligence of a player and also his coachability. Every year the team that coaches the Senior Bowl winds up with 2-3 players off the team they coached in Mobile. I think it's a tremendous edge in the scouting process.

from what I heard Manziel showed up completely trashed at Cleveland meeting last week. If he was electric talent you put him thru Calvin program but I am not sure he is even starting QB.
